Just because we aren’t allowed to gather in church buildings today doesn’t mean that the breath of God’s Spirit is not in the body of Christ! We shout to the wind, “NO!” Jesus can break through closed doors, barriers, discontentment, guilt, and shame. He can take out the garbage of all our past pains and sins if we let Him. He is a restorer and giver of life today and forever if we put our faith and trust in Him. Let's breathe the breath of God into our community as we live out our Commissioning, with our Cure, to fulfill our Challenge today.

Faith is being sure that what we hope for will be accomplish in God's all-wise and best time. I think Satan has used this powerful tool of God to distract people from trusting in God. And sometimes people have just chosen not to walk in faith because they just didn't want to believe in Him anyway. There is no perfect prayer that needs to be repeated over every situation, but our expression of faith and trust in God is what is required for every situation. Jesus is beginning to bring the Jewish mindset into alignment with God’s thinking. For so long they have been distracted by so many rules and laws that they had taken their eyes off of why the commandment was given in the first place. Every original commandment was designed to help people connect with God’s heart. When people put their own twist on what God said, it will change the value and meaning of the truth He was conveying. Jesus was “righting the ship” so to speak, or realigning people’s misunderstood perspectives on God’s truth. Have you heard people say things that you knew were not exactly said the way God said it? How will you emerge with the belt of truth tightly wrapped around you to keep your pants from falling to the floor when you stand before God?

Using the context of Jesus’ specific teachings to all of us in life, I feel stirred to take quality time for us to digest the value that Jesus contributes to our lives. Therefore I will offer, following each reading, a time of reflection for us to think through the dynamics of reality in our world today. I will ask…“What are the teachings offered by Jesus in this passage?” “What are the things that catch my personal attention when I consider this passage?” and “What has Jesus taught me, to do or be in my life, for God’s best future and glory?” So, each reading will be provided in shorter, manageable segments for us than I have done in previous longer readings as in Job. In today’s reading, Matthew tells us about the early stages of Jesus’ ministry. Since temptation is a major part of all our lives as humans, Jesus needed to show us the victorious pathway through those troubled waters. He responded to Satan's temptations with appropriate quotes from the Old Testament scriptures, even when the things that were laid out before Him were tantalizing. Click on the link and listen as I read from Matthew 3-4. Follow along in your Bible if you have one there with you today. Afterwards, consider and share if you can how we respond when tempted by what we know is evil or not a part of God’s best for you?

There was a personal mission Jesus had to fulfill with His life. He provided salvation to all who believe by dying on the cross and then rising from the dead. But then He gave His disciples a mission to complete as He ascended into Heaven. And He didn't even say "Goodbye!" This sermon was preached live at Sacramento First church of the Nazarene.

But it is a powerful tool God uses with people who have missed the mark of righteousness and want to be right with Him. There is no prayer that is known as widely and taught so much as the Lord's prayer (Matt. 6:9-14). Today we will walk through it with this guide as Jesus taught us "How" to pray.
1.) Tell God how much you know, love and worship Him…“Our Father in Heaven, hallowed be Your Name.”
2.) Remind Him that you want to be on His winning team…“Your Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.”
3.) Recognize that you depend on His provisions for you…“Give us this day our daily bread.”
4.) Humbly surrender to His gracious work of salvation…“Forgive us our sin, as we forgive those who sin against us.”
5.) Involve your trust in Him to guard and protect you…“lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.”
6.) Thank and praise Him for His eternal victories…“Yours is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever.”

Joel a prophet of God speaks. Most people do not like prophets because they often bring negative pictures of destruction and devastation. People only want to hear the good stories. But when God's judgement comes and we are not prepared to seek Him, then even more destruction will follow. The Book of Daniel has some amazing stories and demonstrates the power of God with those who will put their faith and trust in God alone. The vision Daniel is experiencing is a foretelling of things to come. We do not yet know how all the things that were spoken will be fulfilled. Nor are we truly able to determine all of the details regarding who they may be referring (though some have tried). Consider between the events why people are falling or inflamed. Determine to not be as they are but be more like Jesus who loved all and came to bring peace.

In Colossians 1:9-14 Paul enumerates many things we can incorporate in our general prayers for others. But our prayers can go deeper, than the general, to detail specifics of things you believe are necessary and valuable to bringing God's power into the situation. Consider these prayer points:
1.) Paul knew WHO he was praying to.
2.) Paul knew who he was praying FOR.
3.) Paul focused on their SPECIFIC needs.
4.) Paul LISTENED to the Spirit’s prompts for his part.
5.) Paul THANKED God.
I hope this helps you as you engage with and for other people before God's throne of love and grace.

His pure blood shed that day 2000 years ago brought righteousness into our lives as a reality, not a possibility. Nehemiah had no idea how God was going to hear and answer his prayer, but he trusted His God to accomplish more than what he was asking. AND GOD DID! Prayers are a vital, spontaneous and regular part of my life. Sometimes they are prompted by scriptures and other times they are stimulated by the things taking place around us in our world. Worship is always found on my lips in prayer and no 2 prayers are alike. Jesus taught us "HOW" to pray and you will hear prayer blogs that reflect similar formats. I hope that this prayer will not be for me alone before God but that you too will join in worship, adoration and be stirred in your own soul as you approach God today!
