When used right, this one word can turn the readers of your blog, the listeners of your podcast, or the viewers of your videos, from casual consumers into loyal fans.

In fact, this one word, if used consistently, could eliminate the majority of divorce across the country!

Listen in to another meeting with co-founders of Digital Legend Media, Dave Lawson and Tim Murphy, as they talk about the key to life success and digital media success.

Enjoy!

During another one of our meetings, Tim Murphy and I get on the subject of WHY we start following people on social media.

During that discussion, my brain (almost literally) exploded with the realization of what that subscribe button signifies, and how this can help you build a loyal audience.

Bottom line - the subscribe button means I'm "trusting you" to entertain or educate me (or both).

It's like (during my dating days) that point you move beyond dating into something more series.

The subscribe button signals commitment, and that's a trust you don't want to break with your followers.

Treat that button, and that commitment, like gold!

Listen....

There's a lot of buzz around the Netflix series the picks the brain of Bill Gates.

Tim and I chatted about this during one of our meetings.

Here's Tim's takeaway...

If you own a business with employees (or even if it's just you!), here's a great way to build business when things are slow.

This method takes patience, but it's another way to use that digital media content bank you've been building.

Enjoy!

I invite you into another one of our executive meetings with Tim Murphy where we pontificate on subjects that concern anyone using digital media to create awareness about them or their business.

What's the key to a longterm relationship, either personal or business?

Trust

So WHY do people trust you?

Tim had some great points... listen.

We've all been there!

We have released a video on Facebook or YouTube that goes bonkers with views! What turned into 200 or 300 views, exploded into 3,000, 5,000, and then 30,000 views!

It just took off for no known reason!

And then --- the next video you release gets 43 views. A week later, still 43 views.

What?

Why?

Why does everyone hate you all of a sudden?

Relax. Nobody hates you.

Digital Media in any form is worthy of your efforts, but trying to explain why some things explode while others don't can be frustrating.

Trust me, I've turned to many "video experts" to explain the exact scenerio mentioned above and everyone has their theories, but no solid explanation.

Here's the conclusion Tim and I have discovered through experience -- the number of views you get is not what's important. More important is WHO is watching your video (or listening to your podcast or reading your blog, etc).

Tim explains it perfectly in this episode.

Think about the people you respect and follow.

I'm not talking about your friends. I'm talking about people you consider authorities or experts in the things you are passionate about.

Maybe you're a runner and listen to a running podcast, or follow a marathon trainer on social media.

Maybe you love cooking and get a free recipe every day in your email from a mom who knows how to balance great meals on a budget.

Or maybe you love marketing and watch daily videos sent out from a marketer you trust.

At what point in your relationship do you actually pay for something they are selling?

In this conversation, Tim Murphy and I talk about the point I discovered a marketing expert, followed him, and eventually bought his stuff.

This is a good lesson for anyone trying to establish a community and eventually market to that community.

It boils down to:

  • Discovery
  • Trust
  • Commitment

At what point did you end up purchasing something from an expert you respect? Let me know!

You can make up a million excuses as to why you're not shooting video, recording podcasts, or writing a blog. But, for 90% of us, it's not a lack of time or resources, it's the fear of being judged.

Yup.

Admit it! You know you have something to share, an expertise that will help people solve a problem.

But once you turn that camera on yourself, you feel like you're naked.

You feel like someone is going to make fun of your hair, your beard, your makeup, your clothes, your southern accent, your northern accent... almost anything... so you put it off for another day.

The fear of being judged is not unique to you -- we all feel it.

So how do some get over it and step out while others stay hidden and unknown?

Tim Murphy and I chatted about this very topic during a recent meeting and provide the secret to overpowering your urge to run away.

Enjoy this advice and let us know if you have conquered a way past your fear!
