- It is only through glorious grace that we grow to fear God in our life. It is a blessing from Abba Father to learn to fear Him more. We need to reverence, honor and trust Jesus through our purposeful obedience and intentional worship. A true fear of God provides the believer with sobriety and seriousness of mind. Fear of God enables submission to the Holy Spirit, and an acknowledgement of His right to reign over our body and soul. Fear of God facilitates repentance from and contrition over our sin, and gives us spiritual victory over carnal lusts. --- It has been said the foolish are spiritually insane when they do not fear God.
A Centurion in humble faith petitions Jesus to heal his sick servant. Jesus marvels at his great faith, and warns the people of Israel that simply being a Jew will not grant a soul permission to enter into heaven. Even the Jew, like the Gentile Centurion, needs faith in Jesus as their Saviour, to enter in the Kingdom of Heaven.
