Tracy is a Canadian, Quadruple amputee. She won a bronze medal in alpine downhill para-skiing at the Ontario Parasport Games and was inducted into the Canadian Disability Hall of Fame. The Australian Sabot Championships are underway at Drummoyne Sailing Club in NSW. The Sabot is a popular junior class in Australia. Many of its past National champions are now some of the top sailing pros in the World. Whilst the Cup is on, running at the same time has been the E series, where competitors are racing each other in AC40's at home using the SIM modelling created for the Cup. The top 6 competitors plus 2 wildcards will be flown to Barcelona for the finals at the end of September. They will race for prize money and the top 2 will also sail the AC40's for real in a race. Rocky is one of 5 who have qualified so far. The Bermudan sailor is well known around the traps campaigning a Finn and a TP52 and well, he reckons he owes his career to Bicey!! Ella Hibbert is embarking on a record-setting, never been done before, solo and non-stop Arctic Circumnavigation - a feat that has long been considered impossible. This week we talk to India Syms who at 23 navigated Outlaw, the Baltic 55 in the Ocean Globe Race 2023. The OGR was a round the world race recreating the original Whitbred Round the World race. All the boats were pre 1988 and all the tech was the same as 73. So India navigated with a sextant, a weather fax and dead reckoning. We had a bit of fun with this idea whilst the race was on. There is a new Transatlantic race for the Class 40 fleet - The Niji 40. It departs today 7 April at 1pm France time.

Ocean Crusaders clean the ocean of rubbish and plastic. They also own J Bird III, a TP52 they bought for $30,000 and restored/rebuilt into a modern racer cruiser that is powered entirely by renewable energy. This week we sit down with Stu Bithell, Andy 'Taxi' Davis, and Simon Blake to discuss the Melin Rocket, a unique UK boat. The class was created by the merger of the Merlin and Rocket classes in the 1940's. The Merlin Rocket is designed to a box rule and as a result the boats have evolved and are thoroughly modern designs with plenty of strings to pull. We chat to Simon Koster. Racing the TJV on the IMOCA Hublot with Alan Roura. Simon is in his first season on the 60's having come through the Mini and Class 40 fleets. He started out in the Mini6.50 in 2012 and competed in three Mini Transats scoring two podiums – in the series 2013, and the proto 2017. He then moved to the Class40's with Valentin Gautier - three seasons resulted in a 2nd place in the Transat Jacques Vabre! Whilst he was stuck in dock we jumped to introduce what many consider to be one of the nicest blokes in the fleet.

He is competing in the Global Solo Challenge 2023-24 race. Sailing the Open 50 ‘Sparrow’. He has sailed more than 130,000 offshore miles. Almost equally split between racing, cruising and deliveries. Everything from racing 24’ solo to Hawaii, to doing crossings on 100-footers and a lot of racing and cruising on 40-60 footers. General boat whore. He has worked as a rigger, sailing instructor, charter boat captain, delivery captain, pro sailor, boat preparateuer, yacht racing journalist, videographer, drone pilot and regatta media director. He is a combat-wounded and retired Iraq war veteran. US Marines. Injured in 2004 in Fallujah, Iraq. He began sailing in 2008, at the age of 23 and says sailing is what saved my life and changed my life.

Andrew and his partner Carolyn have spent their life sailing the World living adventure after adventure. Mara was born into that life, her first sail was a transatlantic crossing. At 16 she decided to try sailing dinghies, took to the Laser. 5 years later she has been selected for the Olympics.

Will has completed more than 240,000 nm of ocean racing including five round the world races and 17 Sydney to Hobart races.
He skippered 'Compaq' in the BT Global Challenge 2000/01 and he was also the weather coordinator for the Swedish VICTORY Challenge America’s Cup Team. He provided navigation and weather support for Puma in the 2008/09 Volvo Ocean Race. For the 2011–12 Volvo Ocean Race he was navigator aboard Camper. Will was the navigator for Team Alvimedica in the 2014-15 Volvo Ocean Race.
In 2014 Will published an e-book with Amazon titled Modern Race Navigation: Expedition Software in Action. In 2017 Will published his second e-book "Expedition Navigation Software: A Gentle Introduction".

Technology did hurt us a bit on this one, so did a noise complaint, (we had to record at midnight) apologies to our hotel room neighbours and for the occasional sound dropouts and late publishing. The travel can make it tough some times.

This week is all about shorthanded sailing.
