Through this podcast I have the privilege to speak with people who have overcome incredible odds. Together we will learn from their success and failures while hearing some incredible stories along the way.
Todays conversation was an absolute pleasure. Ruth Rathblott was born with a limb difference which gives her limited use of her left hand. Due to the fear of how she would be excepted, she hid her hand from the world for twenty-five years.
Today Ruth is a motivational speaker, a writer, and an advocate for those who are different and unique. Find out how Ruth overcame her fears and has had the privilege of traveling, speaking, and educating people about limb uniqueness.
If you or someone you know could benefit from this episode, I highly recommend you listen until the end and share it with at least one person in your life.

A special thank you to Doug Laher for being willing to share this story with us and others to help create a conversation around hiker safety and the use of risk mitigation skills when enjoying the great outdoors.
This episode is very close to my heart as the Pacific Crest Trail was a major part of making me who I am today. This story is of a tragic accident that took place on the Pacific Crest Trail in 2020. For those who follow information from the trail on a regular basis, you may very well remember the young man who fell to his death that year in late March. With all the access to incredible wilderness areas through trail systems, it has never been a better time to be a lover of the great outdoors. But with that being said, the wilderness is still rugged and dangerous. Even the most skilled hikers, backpackers, and mountaineers of the world are taking a risk when entering the wild mountainous regions of the world. Today’s story is a tragic cautionary tale, but it’s also a story of a man who is using this tragedy as a way to bring awareness to the dangers of the wilderness, and hopefully, through his story, can help you or someone you love enjoy the incredible world that has been given to us, safely.

Today's episode is a tad late, but I had such a great time with Chris Kellie. Chris has had cerebral palsy his whole life. But despite the challenges he has faced, Chris has used this adversity to grow and become the incredible community-driven person he is today.
Ok, first of all, I just want to say that for those who don't know, I have a strong love for the country of India. I have been to India five times and collectively for about ten months. So when I heard about today's guest, I just knew I had to have her on the show. Srujana Moparthi is the definition of an empowered woman in India, and her heart is with the lepers of India. For those living in the western world, it is likely that when the word leprosy is brought to one's attention, at the most, one might think about stories from the Bible. Leprosy is one of the oldest diseases known to man. Despite advances in technology, leprosy continues to be a public health challenge in countries around the world, such as India. Two hundred thousand cases of leprosy are diagnosed every year around the world, with the USA only seeing about 250 of those cases.
I hope you are a fan of Srujana like I am. So do me a favor and check out their organization's website, and if you have a desire to reach out to Srujana personally, you can email her as well.

Today’s guest is a good friend that has always been in my corner. I have greatly appreciated Julie’s advice in my life and with her experience in the television and radio industry, she has been a great mentor in my business and passions. In this episode, we are discussing how to help the homeless without enabling them. This episode was very special for me and I hope you enjoy this conversation to the extent that I did. Susie is an accomplished and talented Singer, Songwriter, and also the author of a book entitled The Day I Went Swimming & Didn’t Come Up the Same. When Susie was 11 years old she suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury that changed her life forever. When she woke up from her coma she was paralyzed. Susie had to basically relearn everything all over again. Through her journey of recovery, she has had to endure things like memory loss and chronic pain but through it all, she has learned the true meaning of being an overcomer and though her life’s journey has tested her faith, she has found her way in making this world a better place.
In today's episode, I had the opportunity to speak with Philip Merca. Phil has had a dream of being a CSA (community supported agriculture) agent for the past 3 years. Not only is a new wave of farming predicted to appear with the future shift economically, but this also will grow a need for homegrown food! Corporates often outsource for livestock and produce, however- with the debt crisis, there will be room for more CSA’s. CSA’s are populated in more rural areas and the west coast is a hot spot! In this episode, you are going to learn about how Don was able to overcome his immune disorder through ice baths and a deep breathing technique. Sound pretty unbelievable? Hear it for yourself and find out how you can start implementing this technique in your day-to-day life.
This is the second part of last week's episode with Dan Binde. In this episode, we are talking about Dan’s adventures in Alaska and getting stuck in India in early 2020 when the pandemic hit the world. When I think of adventure the first person that comes to my mind is today's guest. Dan Binde is the very definition of a thru-hiker in my opinion. Dan has walked over 24,000 miles since 2015. Through hiking many trails such as the Pacific Crest Trail, The Continental Divide Trail, The Appalachian Trail, and many more. In 2017 Dan was able to accomplish his main goal of breaking the self-support speed record of The Appalachian Trail. This episode has been broken up into two parts. You have a younger self that has facts to prove that he doesn't feel good enough. So if you tell that young self, hey, you're good enough. You know, affirmations, you take affirmations for a month, a year, two years, five years. You see very little change because that little young self has facts that prove that he's not good enough. Belief is going to trigger an emotion. An emotion is going to trigger a behavior. If I have a habit that I want to change, I need to understand that the habit is a repetition of the behavior. And if I try to change the behavior but bring another behavior in, it ain't going to happen because this behavior or this habit that I've created comes from an emotion that comes from a belief. Your mind is a projector and your belief system is a script. You need to change your script so that the projector is going to project another type of life. Hey, everyone, I wanted to mention something briefly before we start this episode. If you go over and follow the Simply Overcoming Podcast Instagram page, we have done a book giveaway and we're going to be doing another book giveaway along with other giveaways in the future. One of the book giveaways that we're going to be doing in the future is a book that was written by today's guest. So if you like today's episode, consider going and following the Instagram page so that you don't miss out on any book giveaways. Thank you and enjoy the episode. Hey, what's going on, everybody? It's Aaron with the Simply Overcoming Podcast. Thank you for coming back. If you're somebody who is a regular listener, we want to say thank you. If you're new to the podcast, we hope that you can stick around and that we can add value to your life. So I have some questions for you. First of all, do you find yourself struggling or postponing things in specific areas of your life? Do you maybe feel stuck in life? Do you feel as if you have potential, but you can't seem to unleash it? Well, if any of these things resonate with you, then this episode is absolutely the one that you don't want to miss. Now today's guest Tommy Walker, the mind engineer. He's an international speaker, a mindset business and life coach. He's also an author. Tommy, first of all, I just want to say thank you so much for being on the podcast and welcome. Thank you, Aaron. Very happy being here and sharing with you guys. So thank you for the listeners, too. So I met Tommy through a Facebook group, and Tommy reached out to me and you're from Argentina, right? That's correct. And you're married. You have two boys. You live in the mountains. In fact, when we started this call, you turned your camera and showed me that it's pouring snow outside. Right now, it is as warm as it is right now where we are I would actually love to have some snow. I want to talk about your transformational journey specifically in your life. But the first thing that I want to ask you is you have this program unleashing your mindset for success. And you've worked with many people who have been going to therapy for many years. And after they started implementing some of the tools that you use, they started seeing a difference right away. And I realized tha
Today’s episode is a legacy piece with someone who has played a roll in making me the man who I am today. This episode is a little different than our normal episodes but it is one that is very close to my heart. This is an episode that I have been wanting to record since the podcast was started and I am so glad it has finally become a reality. I hope you enjoy listening to some of the interesting stories that Michael Paul has from his life and my hope is that you can glean from some of his wisdom and knowledge.

Nobody can take your integrity away from you. They cannot do that. But you can give it away by how you conduct your life. It's just how you conduct your life. Like I say, one of my chief goals is to make every kid that works with me successful. I want them to be successful, full and live on to be successful when we're working together. And I'll do whatever I need to do to bring them to that point. Maybe I mentioned this before, but I'm not going to miss tuning pianos one day, but I'm going to miss all the people that I've gotten to know over the years. I'm not going to miss logging one day, but I'm going to sure miss all the good times that we had doing whatever we were doing. I think about what people have left to me that went ahead of me and how important it was, what I saw in their life as it kind of determined who I became. And that is what I hope by the time their parents and grandparents, they look back and say, Now I know why that guy was in my life. Well, Hello, listeners of the Simply Overcoming podcast, how are you? Today's episode is going to be a bit different from our typical episodes. This episode is a legacy piece. Now it's a little longer than other episodes, but I trust you will find it interesting and enlightening. This episode is very, very close to my heart. So. All right, let's get to it. Hey, what's up, everybody? It's Erin, and it's another episode of the Simply Overcoming Podcast. Thank you for coming back. If you've listened to episodes in the past, we really appreciate you coming back to hear more. We hope that we are adding value to your life. Today's guest has been an influence in my life. He has been a mentor who has taught me things like problem solving, the importance of having a strong work, ethic and integrity. I have been anticipating this episode ever since I started this podcast, and I am beyond honoured to have him on the show today. This man has truly been a part of shaping me into the man I am today. Mike Paul, we have finally made this happen. And thank you for being on the podcast today. Yes. Thank you, Erin. So first of all, Mike, I just want to hear from your side briefly how you met me, too. I feel like we need to cover this right now. I still have a perfect memory of that. My memory for things a long time ago is pretty good. My memory for what happened yesterday disappeared into the ether, the short term memory. But, yes, I was on my Timberland working on a main road that crossed the mountain. And along came Aaron and his older brother, Jeff, on bikes, and they stopped. I might guess that they're probably about. I'd say Aaron might have been about ten years old. At that time, roughly speaking, they stopped and talked to me a bit. And at one point, Aaron said, hey, do you know there's a cabin down there? I said, no, you're kidding me. He said, no, we've seen it. And of course, it was my place where I lived. And at one point when they left, they said, hey, if you ever need any help, let us know. Well, I think it was probably about three years later. I know it was when I started tuning their piano, but I went to their home and I said, Would you boys like a job? Aaron and Jeff? And they said, yes, and that started what was a many year relationship. And we had a good work relationship.

This was such a special episode for me to do because it is with two people who have become very close to me as we have worked towards one common goal of inspiring people through Nick Maniscalco’s story. For those of you who have heard Nick’s previous episodes, this episode should be especially exciting because Nick is officially announcing his bike ride date this year, along with sharing some of the struggles he has had along the way to reach this point. I really hope you enjoy this episode as much as I enjoyed making it.
Today’s guest has experienced something that few can say they have ever experienced. In late June of 2018, Johann Harnisch was on a solo kayaking trip on the Kootenay River in British Columbia when he was attacked and mauled by a grizzly bear with her cubs. After sustaining injuries to his leg, head, and arm he was able to crawl back to his kayak, and after calling 911, he made his way 1.5 miles up the river before getting help. This is a story you don’t want to miss.

Today’s guest is a mother and a business Entrepreneur. She has raised five kids and has overcome many trials in her life. The obstacles and trials have made her who she is today. She has been a cornerstone in my life, and without her, I would not be here today.
Today's guest is Scott Baseman. This episode is a sobering conversation, and it's one that must be had. As I was researching for this episode, I was shocked to discover that cellphone use while driving leads to 1.6 million crashes each year. As you hear in the episode today, any type of distraction while driving could change the course of someone's life forever. Scott's story is one of trial, but it is also one of forgiveness and of overcoming. We live in a society today where we all have these devices of distraction in our hands at all times, and it's so easy to think nothing of it when we pick up those devices while we are behind the wheel of a vehicle. This is a must-listen episode; Scott's story may even save someone's life.
In this episode, I have the privilege of sitting down with a man who has faced far more adversity than most people will ever face in their lifetime. Yet, through all of these circumstances, Denny Chipollini has never given himself the option to quit. Denny has reached many accomplishments in his life including 2X Olympic Torchbearer, motivational speaker, starting a non-profit, cannabis advocate, writer, amputee Marathon, and Triathlon runner. He is also a lover of health, fitness, and life. The episode is one that I hope will motivate. It may even help you get off the couch.

This is a fantastic episode about forgiveness. Rupelin Pichot had a horrific experience when her family was attacked in Ethiopia in the 90s. Her husband and her maid were killed and she was left with 3 kids and a small medical clinic to care for. This is an episode that won’t disappoint.
I really enjoyed recording this episode. Angela Kim has a B.A. in Psychology from UCLA. She is a Master Transformational Life Coach, a Master Executive Coach, a Master Neurolinguistic Programming Practitioner and a Master Time Dynamics Practitioner. At the age of 7 Angela was in an accident through which she received a traumatic brain injury that changed the course of her life forever. In this episode, we talk about depression, mindset, and the ability to change your life through the power of your own mind. This is an episode you don't want to miss. We made it, its 2021. Paul Nelson is acting as a guest host today as we talk about depression, suicide, and how combat this in 2021. Every person is valuable, and every life is unique. How can we use this New Year as a jump start to change our destructive mental patterns so we can be victorious in our lives. All this and more in this exciting New Years episode.
In this episode, I had Nick Maniscalco’s parents on the podcast to tell us about the other side of the story. Traumatic brain injuries and the things that come along with it are often times vastly misunderstand by people who have not dealt with someone with a traumatic brain injury or had one themselves. My hope is that this episode helps to shed some light on brain injuries and the challenges they can pose.
This was an episode I really enjoyed recording. Jim Reynolds is the founder and President of Ultimate Mission, an organization that is training health workers in remote villages of India and other places around the world. Jim’s vision is to help save lives through education. All of this is just a small part of Jim’s story. I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I enjoyed recording it.

These two young boys came up to me about 1011 years old and both of them were saying, they told me, do you have any food? And I didn't have any food with me. I had a pocket full of rupees, but I have 300 people around me. I can't really start handing out rupees. And I said, I'm sorry. They said, We're really hungry. Do you have any food? And I said, no, I don't have any food. And I left those boys hungry. And I asked our doctors, and I said, what can we do? I mean, we can't feed all the children in India. And that's when the idea started coming because they were saying, if you could teach them to drink clean water and wash their hands, you'd make a huge difference, because a lot of the nutrition that they do get is going to fight off disease. Hey, everyone, it's the Simply Overcoming Podcast, and this is Aaron written hour. Thanks for joining us once again for another episode today, I have a very wonderful guest with me, a good friend of mine who is changing thousands of people's lives around the world. But before we start talking with him, I just wanted to mention something that happened recently. I was speaking to one of the listeners of the Simply Overcoming podcast, and he asked me a question. And that question was, Why did I stop recording the podcast a year and a half ago after the first episode? Because if you are somebody who started listening back then, I only recorded one episode and then stopped recording. And I really had to think about it. But I realized that the answer is very simple. I didn't feel like I was the right person to be talking to people about overcoming when I have things in my life that I have to overcome. I'm still struggling with things in my life, but I recently came to a realization, and that realization is this isn't about me. This is about the people out there who are listening to these stories, the people who can benefit from the stories from the people on this podcast. You should never feel like you're unworthy to help somebody by sharing your own experiences in your own story. Okay. Let's get into the episode I present to you, Jim Reynolds. I met you four years ago, right? Jim? I believe so. Yeah. In India. Yeah. I met you in India. It's kind of funny because I was thinking about this, and I realized that we were in Wallawala together a couple of months ago for some meetings. And I realized that other than one time meeting you in an airport in Seattle, that was the first time where I was hanging out with you on American soil in the last four years. That is funny. I don't know if you noticed that I did not even think of that because we have spent massive time going from village to village and in cars and trains and busses. I don't think we're all small buses, but mostly cars and trains and airplanes. So we spent massive time doing this cool stuff over in India, and I've yet to get you over to the Philippines, but I know that's coming. Yeah, I hope so. I'd love to come over to the Philippines with you. That would be great. Well, hey, Jim, thanks for being on the show today. I know you have a fantastic story, and I know it's taken me all these years, but I just listened to your audiobook that you have over on your podcast, the Christian Life Empowerment Podcast. It was great. I learned a lot of things about you that I didn't know whatsoever. Probably way too much. That's what I tell people more than you need in this
It was a last minute decision for me to record and release this special Thanksgiving episode. I am so grateful for all the people who are choosing to listen to The Simply Overcoming Podcast. I really enjoyed recording this short episode and it made me re-assess my own outlook of gratitude in my own life. A special thank you to Gerry Mahn for coming by and sharing some thoughts on gratitude and talking about the non-profit Religious organization that he has founded.
This is the story of a wanderer, of a lost soul tormented by his own mind. In today’s episode, we cover mental health and the struggle of not knowing your place in the world. We also talk about redemption through gratitude.
Dani Granier is passionate about using the challenges she has faced and overcome in life to help young people find their place in the world. From working as a trail builder and trail guide to a counselor and mentor for youth, she has searched for her own purpose in life. In this conversation, Dani talks about her own spiritual struggles and growth. Along with all of these things, Dani is a strong pillar in the growth of the Nick Recycled brand and mission. We hope you enjoy todays episode.
We are back! A lot has changed since the first pilot episode of The Simply Overcoming Podcast. I am back with Nick Maniscalco talking about one of his latest and greatest endeavors, to use his influence and story to help others become the best versions of themselves.
After a terrible accident and traumatic brain injury in 2008 Nick Maniscalco had a choice to either give up or become all that he could possibly be. This is an amazing story of courage and persistence that you won’t want to miss.
