Depression is not the problem, the problem is how we see it. Depression only thinks it’s problematic because we say it is but the guests that come with it like anger, sadness, guilt, etc. they’re actually quite lovely. They can be intense let’s face it, but wow did they come bearing gifts that will be in my heart forever - not material gifts but gifts I ca. carry in my DNA for the rest of my lifetime!! Happy New Year. This year, I'm focusing more of my attention to LOVE especially in a world where we are connected more to lovelessness or committing to seeing where love doesn't exist.

In this episode I talked about:

  • Connecting more to fear than love
  • The symptoms of fear and how to know you're afraid
  • What you can do if you've been feeling fear, and how to work through it.

When you try to protect your partner from their shitty feelings, you're communicating that you don't trust them -- you don't trust their judgement, their ability get through the shit they're going through.

DO YOU TRUST THEM? If not, looks like you have some work to do there, and the rest of the work (all that shittiness) is not your responsibility. You've got to let them go through it. They'll find out from this experience that they are super resilient and you just stay by their side through it all.

Small discomfort for long term game. I want my children to know they are worthy. They know more than I do how worthy they are and when children ask me WHY CAN'T WE DO or HAVE x, y, z. I will stop and think forreal why can't we? Sometimes the answer is I don't know. Sometimes the answer is, "actually, we can." I love to give myself the permission now to say we deserve this too and model that for my children.

This episode is about how a simple hair cut helped me feel worthy, and the simple things we do for ourselves can add up.

Listen to The Progressive Couple podcast: a podcast with Jimmy and me as your host!

Relationships are the connections we have with people so how's your energy connection? When we think about relationships as energy, we can see just how we're behaving and participating in certain dynamics in relationship. In short, we take responsibility for the dynamic of energy we're brining to the relationship that we might not be happy about. The good news about this is that we have the power and the ability to change and shift those behaviors. We weren't given lessons on how to be with people growing up so this doesn't feel natural to us, but again with practice we strengthen our relationship muscles and skills and can actually transform our relationship pain to love.

As an anxious attached person in relationship with an avoidant, I had a hard time learning to ask for help or asking for needs because I didn't want to be labeled "needy," but the more I showed up genuinely advocating for myself, the more I developed what I needed vs what I wanted and began to create language when it came to asking for help. What follows is that now, being able to ask for help, so many things open up for me - I'm able to use my resources and thus I'm able to step into more of the things that light me up in this world and make a bigger impact.

Do you wish that your partner would do everything with you -- be there for your needs, your wants, your dreams, desires... Wouldn't it just be so nice and convenient if you could have your cheerleader with you, cheering you on and supporting you through all the things in life. You'd travel together, eat together, watch movies and read together, laugh together, cry together, breathe together? Ugh, yesssss someone who gets me!!! Someone who can validate that this shit isn't weird that I like doing! You're probably sensing a little bit of sarcasm, and that's cause -- IT ME, and I'm now realizing THIS IS A TOTAL FANTASY!

I fantasize about having a partner who will do ALL the things I LOVE TO DO so that I DON'T HAVE TO DO IT ALONE. You know why? Because I GET ANXIOUS when I do things alone -- that's the truth. So now that I have your attention, come take a listen about what you can do to help your nervous system through this, and how to move your relationship beyond needing to do everything together because I'll tell you a secret that shit is HOLDING YOU BACK from your greatness!

Of course knowing what we want sometimes is fuckin hard. What if you NEVER ever had the opportunity or were ever asked, "What do you want?" OR maybe you've been asked and you get so overwhelmed by the question because it's one you've never had to think about.

In this episode, I talk about slowing down enough to figure out what we want so that we can ASK for what we need in relation to those wants. If you have a hard time asking for what you need, listen to this episode to learn how to build your needs by discovering what you want.

Mom rage is real. Most moms have experienced it in their lives... the out of body experience of intense, explosive anger that isn't quite anger but something MORE than that. The primal noises, the shouting, the outbursts at the slightest provocations.

Feeling shame and guilt after is often quite common. Like "whoa, who was that just now... I can't believe I [insert a horrible thing you did here]." And of course if you're doing your best to be a conscious, gentle, respectful, loving, caring parent, you may spiral into a deep pit of shame. You may begin to feel super guilty and kick yourself with thoughts like, "I KNOW BETTER... what am I doing? Who have I become? Why are things this way?!"

Be gentle with yourself. Mom rage often signals that we have some needs that are going unmet. There's no breathing room. Mom rage maybe needed to happen to help you see that, and when you see you CAN shift. So let's shift into seeing from the perspective of what can be done after a rage episode?

The impact of rage on a child can be negative, but you can focus your attention on something that is helpful and can impact your child in a way that has the power to override that rage, and that is REPAIR. All is not lost, mama.

You ever feel like you're doing all the things so your mind just gets jumbled with all these thoughts racing faster than the speed of light? I talk about how our thoughts move quickly and move faster than our bodies, how anxiety is the result of a fast paced mind, and what we can do to counteract the speed of our thoughts.

There's no agenda here. I wanted to get raw and real and reveal somethings I've been thinking about -- connecting and resonating through thoughts and some of the things I've been reflecting about in my own healing (financially and really in all the aspects of motherhood, parenthood, and building my business as a coach).

As a perfectionist, recovering codependent, anxious attached individual in a committed relationship -- a love junkie, a fearful martyr, I share my experiences, some of what's shaped me and how I'm handling those things and some reflections.

Have you ever described yourself as a love junkie or someone who’s addicted to the love from their partner? Hi, I am Justine, and I am a love addict. Who’s with me here?

Seriously though. I know what it's like to deeply want the love, care, constant reassurance and validation and I looked everywhere for it OUTSIDE myself. In this episode, I uncover why you might be addicted to love from your partner, what it really means for you, and what you can do to free yourself from the dependency to create a healthy relationship.

Do you make room to allow yourself to just be? When we take on a healing journey, the number one tip I have for anyone taking that journey: INTEGRATE.

Integration is the piece that ensures the sustainability of all the work and progress made towards any kind of achievement. And the reason why that’s important is because our whole life doesn’t simply come down to the things we did — after all we’re human beings not human doings.

Give yourself the grace to integrate the new you and the old you in having them come together and connect to yourself wholly.

The greatest lie we've been told is that there isn't enough love to go around. We begin looking for love wherever we can get it which typically is outside of ourselves. You may long for more because you think what you have isn't enough, but what if you've been misled? There must be more to this than what I’ve accepted. There must be more to life and love. Have you heard these phrases? Yes, there is more to it than what you’ve been told. You are what you’ve been longing for, and when you focus inward, you will manifest the love you desire.

Boundaries has become a bit of a buzz word in the self development world, but they are necessary to uplevel your relationships to yourself and others because essentially, you won't have all your energy leaking from you! Think of boundaries as patching up the holes in a cup so that when you fill your cup, it stays filled. You're able to poor from a full cup, and you feel good doing it rather than wondering where all the water or juice or milk went! Totally, boundaries can feel a little icky, IT MAKES SENSE. Almost no one was given a lesson on HOW TO ESTABLISH A HEALTHY BOUNDARY WITH (fill in the blank). So here's one way you can start to reframe boundaries. Answer the question: What are you available for? There you have it. When you begin to evaluate, question, reflect and get clear about what you're available for -- you're able to communicate that to others. When we share our boundaries (what we're available for), others know and it's clear. You've made your choice, you've communicated it clearly, and then it becomes their choice to go along for the ride or not, and you may be surprised. The more and more we have our boundaries respected, the more we discover WOW boundaries are not bad at all! Think about how many times you said in your head: Boundaries, Bad! Make sure to follow me on IG for more content like this: www.instagram.com/justshapeshift www.instagram.com/shift.together_podWant to book a complimentary breakthrough session with me to discover and get clear about where you're headed? I talk about the fears I'm currently facing in my life to move beyond the limits I've placed on myself. How many of the fears I'm facing are ones you have faced before? Check out this episode if you're currently taking the leap into territory unknown, and especially if that involves MONEY!!! How to face your money problems yourself and possibly WITH your partner. This is a huge topic when it comes to being in relationship. If you're currently in the conflict loop in your relationships. The core beliefs I received growing up was that I was not good enough. I was not smart, I was not innovative, I was not creative, and while I wasn't necessarily TOLD these things, it didn't stop me from receiving these messages through body language and actions of my caregivers or teachers. I share some of the things in my life that are pointing me in the direction of noticing that I may have ADHD, and while I'm not clinging hard for a diagnosis how a diagnosis would really empower me and heal a lot of the parts of myself that were beaten (sometimes literally) because I was not understanding and getting things people were trying to teach me. I really hope that by sharing my story, this helps so many others out there suspecting they may have ADHD to go out and do something about it. Learn what your needs are. Advocate for those needs. Understand yourself.

For anyone who is needing support in their relationships because of these reasons, book a breakthrough session. It's my personal invitation into a powerful, coaching conversation with me. Some honest story telling about what's been happening in this season of life. Single mom life while daddy's away for work, the house going to shit, the kids running a muck. Distractions are not a bad thing, and you're not a horrible human being when you distract yourself. What are you distracted from?! To lose traction means you have to have gained traction -- so what are you losing traction on, and maybe that's not such a bad thing. Losing traction on your commitment to fighting? NOT A BAD THING. Losing traction on violent communication. NOT A BAD THING!

So when might it be a good idea to distract yourself?

The path of least resistance might sought like a great path to take most likely because we don't have to feel the awkward feelings and deal with them, but what does that do to you over time? • Power struggles occur when we are battling for power in our relationships.
  • Power struggles can stem from unresolved childhood memories or events about being powerless.
  • Getting empowered in your relationship helps to restore balance of power.
  • When you claim your power, you no longer need to demonstrate your power in relationship.
  • Claiming our power helps us to see our impact in our relationships.

Stories can be healing in community

Stories help us relate with one another creating deeper connections

Stories can also be detrimental when we are healing

Stories told over and over reinforce and program/condition us to believe

Beliefs can be a set of stories that are true or untrue

You can believe in a story that is not true and act in accordance with it

Questioning and noticing create an atmosphere that allows us to be open and caring and kind

Ask yourself what kind of story you've been telling about your life?

What is the deepest, darkest, story that you have about yourself?

What story would you like to be remembered by?

An exercise you can do is write your obituary (if that doesn't trigger you too much).

As women, we may have learned that having needs made us needy, dependent and out right unsexy. Maybe we've been told that we're too much, and so we learn to disown our needs and self abandon over time. A lot of people tend to do this to stay in connection with others.

In this episode, I talk about how scary conflict can be, and also explore how conflict isn't actually that scary. I talk about video games and how we can take a more video-game like approach to conflict. My mission has been to heal the world by raising consciousness in our love and relationships so that we can create a mega ripple of conscious love. If you want to communicate better -- most people say they want to have loving communication -- one of the best ways is to work out the CORE. Just like training our core to be stronger to prevent injury and to transfer energy more effectively, we can remember the CORE of our SELF and being. The CORE Method is something that I created to help guide people to have more loving conversations to help people be understood.

How often do you feel like you've got to keep it all together? We are not machines, we are human a* fck (a term Peta Kelly uses quite often). Many of us are using fear, shame, or guilt as the driver of our lives. Can you imagine a life where we are driven by compassion, confidence, trust, love? Just imagine that. Maybe you don't believe that things can change being so "soft," but I assure you take a moment to slow down with me! Let's honor ourselves as humans first so we might see that it's possible to honor others as humans too xoxo

How talking you my boss about following my authentic self and asking choices that align with my soul meant that I wouldn’t be at my 9-5 forever and that meant getting consent from him to follow my dreams and my passion. Life doesn’t have to be all or nothing. My relationships don’t have to be all or nothing. I can have many things, but i discovered this by staying in connection with those I have relationships with and cultivating openness even thru the face of anxiety.
