Ozark Mission Project
Ozark Mission Project (OMP) is a strives to transform lives through worship, fellowship, and hands-on mission.
OMP sends youth groups to camp sites and churches around Arkansas where they, in turn, engage in the surrounding communities by serving individuals and families, our neighbors, who are in need of minor construction and yard work. In addition to the physical service projects, we strive to meet social and emotional needs by spending part of our time visiting, sharing lunch and, if the neighbor so chooses, a devotional.
Clint Johnson is a name most folks know well in the OMP world. Listen as he shares why OMP is so important to him that he uses half his vacation each year to participate!
Last summer, Bailey and Karen had the opportunity to sit down with the senior pastor and youth director from Heritage UMC of Clearwater Florida. The youth director, Peggy, has been on MANY mission trips with youth groups. Bailey was quick to want to know how she thought OMP compared to all the others! Peggy and Matt talk about how easy it was to plug in to OMP and about how mission experiences lock kids in to their youth group for years to come. Building relationships with our neighbors is one of the most important things we do at OMP. Miss Peggy sure loved the community builders that came to her home and they certainly loved her back!
In this month's OMPodcast we hear from Kristin Wells, youth minister at FUMC Bentonville. Kristin took her youth group to OMP for the very first time in 2022. We had a great conversation about empowering our youth for ministry and about how nice it is to attend OMP and not worry about being in charge the whole time!
