Through extensive programs, services, and activities, the CAC raises funds, brings awareness, and has created a safe and child-friendly space for children and families to receive comprehensive services.

Human Trafficking is considered an “invisible crime” as it can take place at any point, and anyone can be a victim or trafficker. According to Hope for Justice, over 1 million people in the United States are living in conditions of modern slavery. These conditions include sex trafficking, forced prostitution, domestic servitude, criminal exploitation, etc.
The North Carolina Justice Academy is dedicated to helping lower these statistics and to ensure the safety of the citizens of North Carolina and beyond. Listen in on this encore presentation as host Kirk Puckett is joined by Jeff Bolettieri, Bill Loucks, and Richard Schoeber. They discuss what makes human trafficking an invisible crime and how law enforcement can help the victims of these crimes.

January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month. NCJA 10-14 is dedicated to helping the cause by sharing vital information about prevention and survivor assistance. North Carolina consistently ranks within the top 10 states with the most reported number of human trafficking cases. Every year, millions of people become victims of human trafficking, whether through sexual exploitation or forced labor. In 2018, Cumberland County had the highest number of human trafficking charges than any other county in North Carolina.
Join host Kirk Puckett and guests Faith Boehmer, Bengie Hair, Johnny Leonard, and Bobbi Mattocks, as they discuss their work with human trafficking survivors and their involvement in WORTH Court. WORTH stands for “We Overcome Recidivism Through Healing” and is the first Human Trafficking court of its kind in North Carolina.

October is recognized as Domestic Violence Month. Join host Kirk Puckett with guests Nisha Williams, legal director with the NC Coalition Against Domestic Violence, and Cathy Roberson, Executive Director of the Cleveland County Abuse Prevention Council, as they discuss domestic violence, service providers, confidentiality restrictions, and working with law enforcement officers.
Domestic violence service providers cannot confirm or deny if a person is receiving or has received services when law enforcement is attempting to serve an arrest warrant or locate a missing person. When law enforcement is empowered with the knowledge and understanding of these confidentiality boundaries, then they can provide better partnerships and relationships with their local domestic violence agencies.

In this episode, we will discuss officer survival. Each day you put your life on the line and you have the stresses of the job that go home with you each day. Today we talk with Instructor/Developer Paul Phelan from the Edneyville campus about dealing with the crisis while on the job, the importance of taking care of oneself as well as the importance of having an accountability partner. Mental health is an important factor of the job, and stress and officer-related suicides can be outcomes if your health isn't put on your priority list.

He will explain probable cause, the difference between hemp and marijuana, field testing, and give us some scenarios of how this could play out in the field.

Bill is the North Carolina state school director for the prescription drug diversion investigator and supervisors commissioned courses. Bill is also the qualified assistant (Q.A.) state school director over the specialized explosives & hazardous materials commissioned course. Bill is a sworn deputy (reserve) with the Henderson County Sheriff's Office in NC. He is also an associate board member for the International Narcotics Interdiction Association (INIA) and a member of the International Association of Undercover Officers.
Bill will discuss Hemp, what it is and why it is important for every officer to familiarize themselves with this very topic.

Today we will discuss the federal case of US v. Brandon Jennings. This case shines light on the characteristics of the trafficker as well as the victim.
