We continue the story of Paula de Eguiluz, a freedwoman of African descent, who faced interrogations and punishment by Spanish Inquisitors in 1600s Colombia. In this episode, I discuss Paula's description of her familiar, and the spells that she used to make men "love well," or remain devoted to the women who desired them. This podcast gives detailed information on love magic in early modern Cartagena, Colombia, based on research done in the archives of the Spanish Inquisition.
