This is the podcast for sharing about the foods, health and lifestyle. So we can live a better life with enthusiasm.
Opportunities to find deeper powers within ourselves come when life seems most challenging.—joseph campbellTHE MORE WE live in our comfort zone and avoid challenges, the less likely we are to thrive. When we decide to take risks, however, we often find this leads to greater happiness, increased productivity and creativity, more success, and a greater sense of vitality. When we do things that challenge us, something amazing happens: we feel more invigorated, excited, and alive than when we live with the status quo. When we push ourselves to do something that feels a tad uncomfortable or stretches us, we are forced to go past our limits and reach new and greater heights. As a result, we become capable of doing things we never thought we could. We become a better version of ourselves. When we challenge ourselves, just as when we learn new things, we also develop new neural connections and encourage brain plasticity. And when there are positive outcomes, we gain a new perspective that challenges our traditional way of thinking. This helps keep us more youthful in both mind and spirit. We become more flexible and adaptable, making us better prepared for change and whatever unexpected challenges may come our way.
If you hear a voice within you saying, “You are not a painter,” then by all means paint, boy, and that voice will be silenced.—vincent van goghALTHOUGH A LITTLE constructive self-criticism can be beneficial—it motivates us to grow and become a better version of ourselves—too much of it, or the wrong kind, can be highly detrimental. We tend to be our own worst critics, and often we go too far. We forget our keys and think, “I’m such an idiot.” Or we have an off day at work and think, “I’m incompetent.” These negative thoughts become all too pervasive and can be highly destructive. They eat away at our ability to be happy, and they are at the very core of low self-esteem and self-confidence.Self-talk is the constant stream of unspoken thoughts we think each day. Those thoughts can be either positive or negative, but negative self-talk is rarely constructive. Instead of providing helpful ideas for improvement, it focuses on what’s wrong and is destructive. And when we allow ourselves too much negative self-talk for too long, it leads to stress and anxiety as well as depression. Positive self-talk, however, has the power to reduce stress and can lead to improved mood.Negative self-talk tends to take on one of four forms: catastrophizing—you assume the worst is going to happen; filtering—you accentuate the negative and downplay the positive; personalizing—you assume you are to blame when things go awry; and polarizing—seeing everything as black or white, with no gray in between. You may put yourself down or call yourself names. Maybe you tell yourself you aren’t good enough. Maybe you obsessively analyze personal interactions for evidence that people don’t like you.Often, patterns of negative self-talk start when we are children. Maybe a parent criticized you or led you to believe you were never good enough. Or maybe a parent suffered from lack of self-esteem, and you’ve come to model their behavior. Maybe you were made fun of in school. Or maybe you went through several damaging experiences that caused you to become sarcastic or negative. Regardless of the cause, these thought patterns will become more and more integrated into your way of thinking as you get older

We all talk about toxic relationships between two
lovers. But we hardly talk about toxic friendships. We think that it's cool. What can be toxic between two friends? Everything is so casual and happy, right? But that's so, so wrong. Friendships have deep emotions attached to them. And when the emotions are so deep, things can turn really ugly. You can't always laugh everything off in friendship. Somethings really hurt your soul. And at times, the scars can beat and last a lifetime. You know, it's not necessary that your friend should hate you or be a bad person to make it toxic for you. Sometimes, the friend is a good person and wants only good for you, but somehow things keep getting more ugly, more suffocating. You don't discuss it much because these fights and arguments are for couples, right? In friendship, everything is cool. And that's how we dig our own grave. There are signs, you know. When someone is draining off your energies, when someone always has an issue with you, and when someone is always complaining about something, it's a sign that this beautiful bond of
friendship is turning ugly. Take a step back and think about it. If you will think hard, you will realize how this friendship has become so, so toxic. And you never even noticed it. So when this realization slaps you into reality, please don't take it casually. Please take action. Please try to communicate clearly and honestly what changes you want to see. Give it one last chance. And if things still don't change, then please quit trying to save it. Just leave. Just walk away to peace and personal growth. I know that hanging on and trying to make it work sound so brave and loyal. But you can't keep burning your soul just to make the night look brighter. You have to accept that sometimes, it's not about the person, it's more about how you two are vibing. And when the vibes turn negative, no matter what you try, it will keep eating away your peace. So don't feel guilty. Don't fight much. Don't say bad things. Just accept it and close the gate forever. Pray for that old friend, but start a new life.
