Delta Air Lines opened its only international Sky Club lounge in Tokyo on Friday, July 29, welcoming guests with sake, a made-to-order noodle bar, and more.
The lounge, which was initially expected to open in the summer of 2020 before building was stymied by the pandemic, is located in Terminal 3 of Tokyo's Haneda Airport, the airline shared with Travel + Leisure. The new lounge is the only one at the airport operated by an American airline and marks Delta's lounge expansion beyond the United States.
"We've been looking forward to this day for years," Claude Roussel, the managing director of Delta Sky Clubs, said in a statement. "Bringing the signature Delta Sky Club experience to Haneda as we continue to grow our network of premium, one-of-a-kind lounges is a huge moment for our Asia-Pacific partners, and all future Haneda Club customers."
In addition to the noodles and sake, the more than 9,000-square-foot club will feature a premium bar, a buffet bar with both international and Asian-inspired meals, power outlets at nearly every seat, high-speed Wi-Fi, and booths for quiet work. Travelers who need to freshen up before a long flight will have access to five shower rooms.
Delta said the lounge also features impressive views of the airfield and the Tokyo city skyline and — on clear days — Mount Fuji itself.

THE YEAR WAS 1707 In Los Altos de Jalisco, Mexico, Blue Weber agave was cultivated by jimadors to produce an agave spirit, known today as Tequila.

THE LEGEND CONTINUES For almost five centuries, lore of the Osorio Tequila was passed down. Diego Osorio, a descendent of the same name, set out to recreate the recipe, journeying back to Mexico, through Altos de Jalisco and Oaxaca.
Many jimadors, crafters, and contributors from around the world helped refine the liquid and culminate the brand that is Lobos 1707 – continuing a legacy of extraordinary Tequilas and Mezcal.
THE LEGACY LIVES ON Within the design of every Lobos 1707 bottle are elements that retell the legend - The Osorio coat of arms composed of wolves, the escutcheon animal, and the Agave Wind Rose Compass representing an adventurous spirit and honoring the brand's Spanish and Mexican heritage.
A different hue on each bottle evokes the liquid’s origin: Joven’s blue for the Blue Weber agave, Reposado’s rich red Jalisco clay, bronze for Extra Añejo’s blazing sun, a conduit of its ageing, and Mezcal’s black Oaxacan volcanic soil.

Kaveh Zamanian’s true calling was set into motion when he met and fell in love with his wife Heather, a native of Louisville. It was then that Kaveh’s passion for America’s native spirit took hold, leading him to ultimately step away from a successful career as a clinical psychologist and psychoanalyst to start his own spirits company. Kaveh and his family moved to Kentucky, where Rabbit Hole came to life. Born 1967, in Long Island New York to Joseph and Judith Tirado, Diane began her love affair with the bloody mary at a very young age. It was on those subtropical hot summer weekends she would gather with her family and friends. Aunties, uncles, grandparents, cousin’s and neighbors all gathered to Charlie Campagne, “Pop-Pop’s” home located in Suffolk County. In preparations for the days’ feast, Pop-pop would head out at the wee hours of the morning to Lake Ronkonkoma’s shallow shoreline digging up those meaty, rich, salty-sweet “cherrystone” clams that some east coasters consider a food group. Cherrystones clams, sweet corn on the cob, boiled russet potatoes, jumbo shrimp and for the kids, Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs and a Chocolate Yoohoo’s …Say WHAAAT?!!
Three decades later, “Diane’s Bloody Mary” was born.
In 1990, Diane falls in love and marries a young man by the name of Michael Mina. Together they share a great passion and desire to go beyond the standards in the hospitality industry focusing on food & beverage. Partners in marriage and in business.
In 2004, Michael and Diane Mina founded the restaurant company, Mina Group LLC in San Francisco California which own and operate 45 restaurants across the globe.
In 2010, they found a small ranchette spanning a little over 2.5 acres in West Marin’s intimate town of Nicasio. This is where Diane immediately became a large-garden grower. With the help of a local landscape designer, Diane planted over 200 varietals of tomatoes, herbaceous herbs and chili peppers. This idyllic setting is where Diane strengthen her knowledge and palate creating the foundation for the garden grown cocktail mixers you can enjoy today.

The distillery
In 1862, one year into the American Civil War, the first ships to be armored in iron engaged in the waters off the Port of Newport News, Virginia. A few hours later, the Navy would be changed forever.
That mighty battle inspired our name. And it’s why we stick to our guns. We make authentic bourbon. That’s it. Nothing else. It’s our Ironclad rule.
Working with some of Virginia’s best grains, our aim is to produce bourbon whiskey that is accessible in flavor and price, while being of the highest quality of production.
Located along the James River, within view of the old Battle of the Ironclads site, Ironclad operates in the prodigious S.W. Holt & Co. warehouse built in 1913.

It all started back in 2011, in the backyard over some whiskey and a loaded smoker when our founder and chief trailblazer – musician Tommy Brunett, came up with the concept of combining two great American past times: great bourbon/whiskey making with an added subtle hint of Applewood BBQ’s smoked goodness.
Our internationally acclaimed NYS farm distillery in Fairport, NY is where the magic happens. The farm folk within a crow flying distance to our grain silos dump in their freshest and finest where our master distiller and crew ever so lightly smoke some of the grains on our handmade smokin’ machine. The apple wood smell is savored for miles by the locals.
We’ve got giant brass tub stills shipped all the way from the underbelly of Kentucky from our good friends at Vendome. Our swill swirls, spins and churns until only the finest of the finest is aged properly, bottled and delivered to your own local watering holes. Whiskey up and enjoy!

Liberty has become synonymous with Freedom and the American ideals of equality and democracy. It also became a symbol of the suffragettes, these women excluded from the political system as not having the right to vote, until 1920. Saint Liberty symbolizes the hope for a better world and celebrates our early women pioneers in the spirits industry.
Saint Liberty was the hope and the light for a better future for so many immigrants, especially for the large portion of immigrants that found their way to the Montana Territory and the State of Montana. It was Saint Liberty who looked over the souls from abroad and it was also Saint Liberty who guided our Celebrated Heroines of Prohibition like Bertie Brown, Josephine Doody, Mary Curley, Mary Ann Moriarity and Nora Gallagher. With the abundance of wheat, barley and rye and the purest of water, there was no shortage of good whiskey and shine.
Saint Liberty gave these bootleggers the economic freedom to pursue their happiness and provide for their families. Saint Liberty is the light that guides us all.

The 1920s was a decade characterized by freedoms granted, and freedoms taken away. While women secured the right to vote after nearly a century of protest, the 18th Amendment introduced Prohibition and a ban on all alcohol sales.
Under this cloud of repression, some industrious women took up the fight against Prohibition. Inspired by recent political gains, they used their passion for resistance to join the whiskey bootlegging trade. Operating kitchen stills and “home speaks,” these heroic women ensured that “hooch” never stopped flowing.

Vantage was first launched in 2016 by Bill and Andrew Hargitay, a father-and-son team hailing from Melbourne. Bill was a frequent business traveler at the time, and though he enjoyed Russian vodka, British gin and Caribbean rum, it always amazed him that Australia didn't have its own unique spirit lining the shelves of duty free. He realized that in a country known for its world-class wine and beer, there was an opportunity to develop a premium, truly Australian spirit. So, with son Andrew as his business partner, Bill set out to capture and bottle the essence of our sunburnt country.
Vantage wouldn't be possible without the dizzying number of unique botanicals native to Australia. After a lot of tasting and experimentation, we decided on Tasmanian mountain pepper berry, lemon myrtle and Australian-bred mandarin oil for our original recipe. These botanicals bring just the right amount of complexity to an otherwise filtered neutral white spirit; think bright notes of lemon, smoky bush flavors and a hint of orange zest.
At first, we struggled to convince bottle shops and consumers to look beyond traditional white spirits like vodka and gin. Vantage is neither, despite being made using a similar method. It's in a genre of its own and to overcome these preconceptions, we had to take to the streets - quite literally - to introduce the Australian public to Vantage. We conducted tastings, exhibited at Good Food and Wine shows nationally, and even became the official spirit of the TV Week Logie Awards. Now, Vantage can be found in over 400 bottle shops nationally or sitting pride of place in Australian and New Zealand duty free.
Vantage may have been born in Australia, but like so many of our icons, it's earned plenty of praise around the world. We were fortunate enough to bring home a Silver at the San Francisco Spirits Awards and the Stuttgart International Spirits Competition and, more recently, a Gold at Chicago's World Cocktail Championships for 'World's Best Gin Martini', Gold despite not even being a gin. Even more recently, 2021, a perfect 100-point score plus a Gold medal at the USA Proof Awards. Talk about the Bradbury effect (if you know, you know). And though these awards are always greatly appreciated, the real buzz - for us at least - comes from knowing that the Spirit of a Nation is being shared in homes and bars across the world, whether it's taken home by a traveler or carried overseas by a spirited Australian.

Since 2010, Matt and Martha have been perfecting the art of creating barrel-aged craft cocktails. Not settling for traditional recipes and off-the-shelf bottles, they experimented, sourced, and developed their own ingredients and methods to create the very best barrel-aged craft cocktails.
Working for a technology company in the casino business, Matt spent a lot of time in Las Vegas and around the world experiencing the very best cocktails and bar culture. At one of his favorite spots, he spent many hours talking to the bar staff about their innovative cocktails, especially their in-house, barrel-aging program. With encouragement from the staff, Matt and Martha started experimenting with barrel-aging cocktails at their home in Connecticut.
A trial and error process with off-the-shelf ingredients and different aging techniques finally resulted in a cocktail that they were proud of and that visitors judged to be the best they had ever tasted.
The business was born when Matt’s mother ordered a Negroni at a high-end Italian restaurant. After sending her drink back three times, she finally had to settle for a different cocktail. They could not come close to matching the intricate and refined drink resulting from selected craft ingredients aged in a charred, oak barrel that she had tasted at Matt and Martha’s home. Many friends and family had similar experiences and started asking to take home Matt and Martha’s barrel-aged cocktails.
But to create a cocktail for sale to the public, they knew they had to elevate to product to a higher level. They hired a flavor scientist with decades of experience in the spirits industry to source the best ingredients, create new spirits, and refine their home recipes and techniques. The new ingredients and recipes created cocktails that are elevated by barrel aging AND result in a balanced cocktail.
Martha Outlaw is certified by WSET as a Level 2 Wine and Spirit Educator. She spent 5-years as an authentication and research consultant for a high-profile wine collector. Her research led to civil and criminal wine counterfeit cases that resulted in multi-million dollar damage awards and a federal conviction. She also conducts cellar appraisals and management.
Recently she served as Director of Fine Wines at ReserveBar, the preeminent online destination for the gifting of top-shelf spirits, fine wine, and premium champagne.
And yes, the liqueur used in the Manhattan and Boulevardier is named after her!

Two sisters with eight children between them, develop an estate vineyard and become award-winning wine producers.
It sounds like the start of a modern fairy-tale, but this is the true story of Eight at the Gate Wines.
And this story is like many others involving farming families, a cycle of hard work, heartbreak, resolve, and rewards.
Sisters Jane Richards and Claire Davies grew up in the country, very close to their vineyards, with their parents and three other siblings and have always had a strong connection to the land. Even when they didn’t own rural land directly, they would regularly help out on the family farm. It was hard work, and the family rallied with all hands-on deck to get through the tough times.
Through hard work, persistence and a dedicated determination, the sisters seized the opportunity to put down roots for a family legacy. Claire, a Roseworthy viticulture graduate, had the vineyard skills whilst Jane had the business skills. In a joint venture they purchased Lanacoona Estate, an established vineyard with a highly esteemed reputation among Australia’s leading wine producers.

E.G. Fishburne is a marketing executive with nearly two decades of
experience building brands and driving brand loyalty across many food
and beverage categories. He joined Zing Zang® at the start of 2021 as
the Vice President of Marketing. He began his marketing career at Kraft
Foods and then spent more than a decade at PepsiCo before his most
recent role, where he led marketing for the North America division of
Whole Earth Brands. During his career, he has held various marketing
leadership roles in brand management, innovation, and sports
marketing, working on well-known and iconic brands including
Gatorade, Quaker, Rice-A-Roni, Velveeta, and Equal. Before becoming a
marketer, E.G. served in the U.S. Army as a Blackhawk helicopter pilot
and achieved the rank of Captain.
He earned his MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at
Northwestern University and his BS in Environmental Engineering from
the United States Military Academy at West Point.

Over the course of around 12 years, you purchased an abandoned distillery (Bruichladdich), brought it back to life, did all sorts of experimentation with cask finishing and barley strains, and then sold it (against your better judgment) to Remy Cointreau for a hefty sum of money. What would be YOUR next move?
Most people would retire, but not Mark Reynier. Rather than fun in the sun on the Costa Del Sol or the French Riviera, Mark decided to buy a Guinness Brewery from Diageo in Waterford, Ireland, add a distillery to the facility, and start making Single Malt Irish Whisky.
Here’s a bit more about Waterford Distillery, in Mark’s own words, that was taken directly from their website…
We’re embarking on a long journey, a voyage as ambitious as it’s pioneering. The destination is to create not just the most compelling Irish whisky, but the world’s most profound single malt.
We chose Waterford, for here on the banks of the river Suir, on Ireland’s sunny south-eastern coast, we have an exceptional state-of-the-art facility originally built by Diageo in 2004 and converted to distilling in 2015. And we have the finest quality raw materials: the purest of spring water from renowned ancient wells; a team of passionate distillers that share the vision; and the very best barley in the world.
The provenance of our barley, where and how it is cultivated, is therefore key. Taking proven principles from Islay a giant step further, we have sourced an unprecedented 86 Irish farms, including organic and biodynamically run, growing barley on 19 distinct soil types. With a pioneering digital logistical system keeping track, each farmer’s crop is harvested, stored, malted and distilled separately. Thus we can capture in spirit each farm’s terroir, that subtle character shaped by micro-climate and soil. Individuality and integrity from field to barrel.
The goal of this precision, provenance with total traceability, is to provide us with an unparalleled library of maturing, nascent single malt whisky as each farm’s barley is distilled, one per week throughout the year.
The first whisky ran in January 2016. After maturing for several years in the best of French and American oak, we believe these component “single”, single malts, each one exhibiting its own nuances, will come together making the most profound single malt whisky ever created.

Bacanora is grown and produced exclusively in the state of Sonora Mexico.
It is handcrafted and produced only in small batches.
Bacanora is made from a special Agave plant called called Pacifica or Angustifolia Haw
Sonora's unique soil and climate conditions are what differentiates the rich smokey flavor of Bacanora from its popular mexican cousins, tequila and mezcal. Bacanora is roasted from 2-4 days buried in an eathern pit fired with mesquite which gives bacanora its smokey taste.
300 years ago Bacanora, was wintroduced in a little town in eastern Sonora, Mexico.
In 1915, Bacanora became extremely popular but the governor of Sonora at the time decided that the beverage was becoming too hedonistic and immoral and its production and consumption was banned for 77 years.
Anyone caught drinking or distilling Bacanora were severely punished either with imprisonment or by hanging.
in 1992 the state of sonora lifted the ban and made it legal once again.
In the year 2005, the mexican goverment issued bacanora its own NOM which means Bacanora can only be made with 100% pacifica Agave, gown and produced all within the state of Sonora, Mexico.
This light brown oro is aged four months to create an exotic, intriguing sensation on the plate.
The earthy smokiness of roasted agave mingles beautifully with notes of oak wood and sugar.

On today's show we welcome: Anna Scott has always been a food lover. From growing up with chickens in her own backyard to providing her own family with healthy and nutritious meals, she has always lived by the idea of minimally processing food and keeping them as close to their natural state as possible. Developing her own line of shrubs was just an extension of her already healthy and clean lifestyle.
Anna was first introduced to shrubs at one of her favorite restaurants during a Father’s Day brunch in 2017. Just a simple sip of champagne mixed with apple cider vinegar and blueberries was all it took to get Anna’s enterprenurial mind racing.
From that moment, Anna began tinkering and experimenting with different flavor combinations and recipes in her own kitchen. With the help of her friends, family and neighbors, Anna was able to uncover 5 delicious flavors of shrubs.
With a strong background in business and finance, Anna decided to take her kitchen creations to the public market. She enrolled in the Incubator Program at Hope & Main in Warren, Rhode Island and began mass-producing her shrubs.
Today, Anna’s Kitchen Shrubs can be found in a variety of local retail and liquor stores, restuarants, or bars. Or you can order them online and have them shipped to you nationwide.
After tasting and experimenting with flavors in her own home kitchen, Anna joined an incubator program with Hope & Main in Warren, Rhode Island. It was there that Anna’s Kitchen was born. Armed with five delicious flavors, Anna’s Kitchen produced their first batch of shrubs in 2018. Today, Anna’s Kitchen Shrub has taken home 17 awards and has been featured in numerous magazines including Food & Beverage Magazine and Bar Business Magazine. Anna’s Kitchen offers a healthy and clean drink mix that can be used in cocktails, craft sodas, or you can have fun with then in the kitchen and feel really good about what you’re eating.

Andrew Friedman from Industry Spirits
Our Story so far...
The story started in 2006. At the time, it seemed like a great idea to open a bar - and, that bar was Liberty, located at the top of Capitol Hill in Seattle. Thanks to some great co-workers over the years (many of whom went on to work at many of America's best bars; Pegu Club, Canon, D&C, Multnomah Whiskey Library, Anvil, etc.), we were able to do some amazing things.
One of what was amazing and which we excelled in was education. Our small bar had arguably more education events than anyone else in Seattle, and we took great pride in that. We probably broke more brands in our market (if not nationally) than most bars in America, and that urge to both learn and to also help out good people both in our community and nationally/internationally drove us year to year.

After 12 years owning Liberty, it was time for the staff to have their turn, and they took it over and have been going great since.
The best thing about our industry - is our industry. My favorite thing about our industry is that no matter where we go in the world, we have family. We share our greatest victories, and are there for each-other for the times when we're in need. And, it's this connection that helped create Industry Spirits. Watching our co-workers and friends grow in the industry, from bar-backs to national ambassadors, bar owners, educators and leaders means that we are watching our friends grow -a nd it's the industry that allows that. It's our connection to each other, our selfless urge to share, to give a leg-up to those that deserve our help.
And that's where Industry Spirits comes in.
The whole idea of Industry Spirits is that if we can work together, we can not just help ourselves grow, but we can bring up many alongside us.
How to do that? Well...
We will endeavor to hire only bartenders - and those bartenders will help us grow - from being local ambassadors, to regional ambassadors, to educational leaders to regional managers and hopefully, if they wish...maybe create a brand of their own.
Every community that we work in, we will set to the side a portion of every case sold to use IN That community: Real education events - not brand indoctrination, community events and even direct-help when it's needed.
Lead from example. The big brands and our big industry organizations tend to just use their positions to create a big brand funnel. OUR PROMISE: We will never do that. We appreciate each and every person that we work with and we will work hard to improve our industry for our coworkers across the country.

Lucija Lvancic of Croatian Fine & Rare Wine
Bodren Winery from north-eastern Croatia only makes Ice Wine and Select Dry Berry Harvest, packs in 0,25 l bottles; has an especially small production (about 100 bottles annually). Bridget is an advocate for upbeat education that makes an impact. She has designed beverage programs and produced trainings for top national Accounts that include the Hilton Worldwide Resorts Delta Airlines, American Airlines and Crystal Cruise Line.
Bridget is the co-author of “Market Fresh Mixology”. She has been a contributor to 10 cocktail and beverage industry books written by various celebrated authors including Tony Abou-Ganim, Kim Haasarud, NY Times writer Robert Simonson and many more. Bridget has worked with top media talent including but limited to Oprah Winfrey, Guy Fieri and Kathy Lee Gifford. She has won numerous awards and honorable mentions for her work in the beverage world. This includes 1st place at the Tale of the Cocktail Bar Chef Competition, Chicago Tribune Good Eats Award and the coveted No Kid Hungry’ s Share Our Strength Sustaining a Community award. She has repeatedly been nominated for the Tales of the Cocktail Spirit Awards top 4 beverage mentor in the world as recently as 2020. She has had the pleasure of hosting charity beverage events for a variety of companies, including the Bellagio, Locks of Love, Sky Blue, Cocktail for a Cure, Make a Wish Foundation, Hadassah, Taste of the Nation, and New Leaders for New Schools. Bridget is the Founder of the National Charity Foundation of the United States Bartenders' Guild, the world's largest contributor to the cocktail culture. Currently she holds the position as Sr. National Director of Education Beam Suntory. Bridget is the Founder of the Academy of Spirits and Fine Service IL, KY & MN a program for bartenders that covers the history of all spirits and pre-prohibition cocktails, and the Advanced Mixology Culinary Academy. Lisa Marlow is geologist turned alcohol beverage developer. She had her first Moscow Mule while out with friends in 2014. It became her go-to cocktail, but she became frustrated in the inconsistency of preparation. So, she worked on perfecting the recipe, then realized it would be amazing to have this as a ready to drink cocktail in the convenience of a can. In 2015 she developed Mule 2.0, an authentic Moscow Mule in a can. She had first distribution of Mule 2.0 in October 2015 and is now in 32 states and top Nielson ranking in the ready to drink cocktail space. She is very excited about new skus she has coming out in December, a London Mule, Mexican Mule, Old Fashioned Mule, and Caribe' Mule. She is from Minnesota and moved to Houston to work in the oil industry. She has worked at Shell and Halcon Resources as an exploration geologist. Prior to getting into the oil industry she was president of Marlow Geoservices, LLC. This company focused on exploring for and mapping sand and gravel resources in Minnesota. Lisa has her MSc from the University of Minnesota where she specialized in glacial geology, geomorphology, and post-glacial aeolian deposits.

Paul Feig is a multi-talented creator, working successfully as a filmmaker, writer, producer, and author whose films have grossed over one billion dollars worldwide. Most recently, Feig directed and produced the Emma Thompson-scribed holiday romance film Last Christmas for Universal. The film stars Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding and was released in November, 2019. His next directing projects include The School for Good and Evil for Netflix, and Dark Army for Universal, which he will also write and produce.

Benedicte Hardy–The Fifth Generation of the Hardy family- an ambassador to the Hardy Family, woman entrepreneurs and the world of Cognac as a whole.
