Life is constantly bringing change, often distancing us from things that are familiar, such as moving, new jobs, and new or altered relationships. These transitions lead us to seek out what’s next in our lives. South Lake Church is about being an intimate and non-judgy community helping each other find and take those next steps. South Lake is focused on investing in our relationships with Jesus as well as the numerous other relationships in our lives.

The Bible can be an intimidating book, especially if you try to read it from cover to cover. Pastor Rob explains how the Bible is really God’s letters of love to us and why we need to study it. He also describes a method of reading the Bible that helps us study and understand what God’s trying to tell us in its various books.
The purpose of Lent is to refocus our hearts and minds on Jesus. But what does that really mean? Pastor Rob breaks it down by addressing these questions:
What are Lutherans? What is Lent? Why do some churches not eat meat on Fridays? Is fasting only giving up food? What are the details of the season of Lent?
Investing in relationships the way God wants us to means shifting from an inward focus to an unconditional outward focus. It’s not just about meeting people; it’s more about how you’re think about meeting people on the inside – is the relationship about you (inward) or them (outward)? Pastor Rob explains how Inward vs. Outward thinking affects everyone involved in our personal relationships.
It’s easy to serve others when you like them or feel bad for them. It’s much harder when you don’t like, or even hate them. How can we experience and then live out God’s desire for us to love and server everyone, even those we don’t like or can’t find common ground with? Pastor Rob explains all of this in today’s message.
“Sticks and stones might break my bones but words will never hurt me.” We’ve all heard this as kids. As adults, we know this is a lie. Words can sting and their judgmental impact can last a lifetime. Jesus shows us what it means to be non-judgy. It is our desire to emulate this characteristic in our daily lives and relationships as the people of South Lake church. Pastor Rob explains all of this in today’s message.
God has a purpose for His people and through the Holy Spirit, each us are given different gifts so the People of God can share His love, His relationship with others. As we look at the gifts of the church as well as the individual, its easy feel like certain gifts are better than others.
God provides gifts and talents for people to utilize to help share the Good News about his love for us and our salvation through His Son, Jesus. These gifts vary every person is gifted differently. While we are different, we are all part of one body of believers in Christ and together we use our gifts to share His message. Pastor Rob explains all of this in today’s message.
After Jesus rose from the dead, he ascended into heaven to be with the Father. But Jesus didn’t just leave his disciples on their own. He sent the Holy Spirit to them as a guide and advocate. That same Spirit is with us as well. Pastor Rob explains what this fact means for us. In the weeks ahead, we will learn more about the Holy Spirit and spiritual gifts.
Pastor Rob sheds light on these questions - Who are the Wisemen, why did they travel to Bethlehem, why is Epiphany still relevant to us today, and why should we share the story with others?
Chozen to be in Our Story Christmas is about Jesus but, who is Christmas for. We are reminded that God came down to us, for us. Christmas is so special because God became present in our story. An in our story, we are called to Engage, Grow, and Share Jesus in our relationships.
