Torrential rain and floods are causing major problems across large parts of Greater Manchester. A total of 26 flood warnings have been issued, in the Greater Manchester area alone. 50 years ago this week the Race Relations Act came into force. Lily Kwok left behind her family in China to come over to the UK after the Second World War. She was initially working as a maid but went on to open one of Manchester's first Chinese restaurants. Her granddaughter Helen Tse who now co-runs the Sweet Mandarin restaurant says Lily was an amazing woman.

The former Manchester City manager Howard Kendall has died aged 69. He managed the Blues from December 1989 until November 1990, either side of successful spells in charge of Everton. A man from South Manchester has discovered a long-lost recording of his late brother-in-law, which was filmed during the Second World War. Vincent Jeffers sent the "Calling Blighty" message back home to relatives, when he was serving in the Far East. A group of young carers from Manchester have created a series of stories and poems about their experiences looking after their older relatives. Meet Trish from Levenshulme. She was a teacher during her working life, but having retired years ago she now volunteers for the charity Intergen at a Greenend Primary School in Manchester. Intergen - a national organisation formed here in Greater Manchester - matches retired people with local schools to demonstrate the input older people can offer. Homeless protesters who've been camping out in Manchester's St Peter's Square go to the High Court later, to fight an eviction notice. The campaigners were originally in the nearby Albert Square - but were evicted from there two weeks ago. Hear from one of the protestors Joanne who has no-where to live - and normally sleeps on the street. She says the protest has been worth it. Manchester City Council say: "The conduct of some members of this camp has been entirely inappropriate - in a public area used by families. Members of the camp have daubed offensive graffiti on the Town Hall Extension. There's also been public urination, street drinking, litter and loud music being played". Ian got help from Gamblers Anonymous and with Josie's support, has rebuilt his life. He's been 7 years free of gambling and life couldn't be more different for them.
