Talking about a really exciting new production in West Yorkshire this autumn. It's a world first, George Orwell's iconic story 1984 adapted for the dance stage by Leeds based Northern Ballet. It opens at the West Yorkshire Playhouse in Leeds on Saturday the fifth of September. As the publicity material puts it: "Winston Smith lives in a world of absolute conformity, his every action is scrutinised by Big Brother. However, when Winston meets Julia he dares to rebel by falling in love".

Last week I went to Northern Ballet's HQ at Quarry Hill in Leeds city centre - what was then week three of rehearsals. There was a fantastic buzz about the place. On last week's Theatre Thursday we heard from the choreographer, director and adapter of 1984, the former Royal Ballet dancer, Jonathan Watkins. Well this week I promised you a chat with the two leading dancers, lovely people and fantastic performers who we've met on a few occasions here on the show. I talked in the rehearsal studio to Martha Leebolt and first Tobias, Toby Batley about 1984, the ballet...

Rewind more than a hundred years, Victorian society was definitely a bit more divided with men enjoying a lot more freedoms than women.

Well one writer, Hadyn Brown, didn't like this and wrote a book called Advice To Single Women in 1899 on how to live your life without a man - and the British Library's just re-printed it.

Here's our reporter Charles Heslett and his interpretation of how it might have been received back then.

Meet George Hollings - he has just turned ninety and he lives in Moortown in Leeds - and 70 years ago today - he helped capture the Nazi supremo, Henrich Himmler.

Himmler was the architect of the SS and the "Final Solution" - in which the Nazis would attempt to exterminate the 11 million Jews of Europe and the Soviet Union. He initially escaped captivity when Germany were defeated in the war by dressing as a private and going on the run.

British soldiers picked him up not knowing his real identity and George Hollings…from Moortown was the soldier who held a gun to Himmler's head when he was interrogated by British Intelligence.

Two days later - when Himmler's real identity was revealed - he committed suicide on May 23rd 1945.

I went to meet George Hollings at his home in Leeds - to hear his astounding story - the man who helped capture Henrich Himmler...

I need to warn you that George uses strong language to describe Himmler which you may find offensive.

Problems with the system for selling tickets to Bradford City's FA Cup quarter final against Reading have left some fans empty-handed and absolutely furious.
