So it's no surprise that man is still playing this control game, even in religion. However, God has not called us into a spiritual exercise that we can control, but into a relationship that we submit to. The gospel of John records Jesus introducing the concept of the Holy Spirit to His disciples shortly before His death and resurrection, and the word He used was the word Paraclete. This Greek word has many interpretations, from counselor to comforter, but in all its meanings, it sheds some very important light on who the Holy Spirit is and what He does.
