When you're with your peeps, you invite them to Circle Up. And when like-minded and like-hearted others come together, they hold space for each other to Get REAL: Radical, Energized, Authentic, & Learning-focused.
It's time to Circle Up & Get REAL.
Today's guest is certified executive coach, TEDx speaker, award-winning author, and the co-founder of the RAYMA Team, Mandy Anderson.
Today Mandy and I talk about things you're not supposed to talk about in public, namely religion and politics, as well as the feminine perspective she brings to all her coaching clients, both male and female.
Find out more about Mandy and her Unstoppable Retreat, scheduled for December 5, at RaymaTeam.com.
Wow ... we've had a week in America! Lots to unpack and then to decide what to put back in the suitcase and what to donate or get rid of altogether.
Today I share a story from Dr. Seuss about the Star-Bellied Sneetches. I wonder what that has to do with anything? Listen and find out!
Also I hint at my next book coming soon. It's called "Just Give a Sh*t." I also mention another project on the horizon. See more at www.purpledialogue.com.
Today's episode is a stream-of-consciousness conversation with myself about a few topics:
1) The political landscape of America one week before the election
2) Restlessness and discontent that has us look for alternatives
3) Standing on the SHOULDers of Giants and what that gets us
Excuse the tickle in my throat that has me cough, or recognize it for what it is: a roadblock in the way to speaking my truth. That tickle represents my ability to choose to go forward in spite of circumstances that might want me to stay quiet.
What do you typically do when roadblocks show up? Do you look for permission to proceed? Do you "go along to get along"? Or do you move forward in spite of the challenges?
Want more opportunities to connect with others? Join us in the Enlightened Leadership Lab Mondays at 4 p.m. central (www.enlightenedleadershiplab.com).
I mention three books today: The 15 Commitments of Conscious Leadership, The Courage to Be Disliked, and The Courage to Be Happy.
Today I unveil the ideas leading to my next book "Just Give A Sh*t" and explore what it means to BE what you desire before you actually BECOME that.
I mention the Enlightened Leadership Lab (www.enlightenedleadershiplab.com) where we meet for an hour on Mondays to explore emergent conversations with the intention that each of us will leave with more ideas and action items because we were part of holding the space for our collective wisdom to emerge and guide us.
Today's episode started with the Albert Einstein quote about whether or not God plays dice with the universe. Is the world a friendly place, neutral, or unfriendly? That perspective will influence the way each of us lives our lives.
I share information about Loretta Ross and her TED talk as well as her book, "Calling In the Calling Out Culture."
If we only ever fight against the situations and the conditions we don't desire, we can't be surprised that that's what keeps showing up. Or, if we are, it will behoove us to begin to take responsibility for our part in that.
(Please forgive the random dings. I got a new smart watch and haven't figured out how to silence that notification!)
Each of us humans is on a journey, whether we know it or acknowledge it or not.
And today's guest, Jodie Harvala, shares steps along her journey, both physically and spiritually.
In our conversation, Jodie very candidly shares her story of learning of her intuitive gifts, and how she has learned to own that gift, and turn it into a career, guiding others to trust their own intuition and living the life they were born to live.
She shares how she and her family learned to embrace her gifts even when it didn't make sense financially to do so, and how they have overcome some of those money issues and she's stepped into her power.
Jodie also shares her recent excursion in Spain where she walked the Camino and what that meant for her own spiritual journey.
If you'd like more information about Jodie and/or her work, go to her website, JodieHarvala.com.
Today's guest is Teri Bach, a former psychotherapist and current coach who guides women through intentional travel to move from feeling lost to clear and confident.
Unlike typical travel focused on sightseeing, intentional travel is designed to improve your well-being, relationships, and professional life.
In this episode, Teri and I talk about the trips she's got planned for Italy in 2025, and how we could all benefit from getting intentional not only about travel, but about our whole lives.
If you'd like to learn more, schedule a complimentary Transform with Travel Clarity Session with Teri by emailing her at Teri@UntappedPotentialCoaching.com.
You can also go there to receive a complimentary guide called Rediscover Yourself through Intentional Travel.
Today I'm reading from the children's book "What Do You Do With An Idea?" by Kobi Yamada.
What would happen to the world if everyone who had an idea kept it to themselves?
From the book's back cover: "What do ideas become? Big things, brave things, smart things, silly things, good things. Things like stories, artwork, journeys, inventions, communities, products, and cures. Everything you see around you was once an idea.
"So what will become of your idea? Now that's up to you."
Take this to heart.
And love on your ideas.
"What Do You Do With An Idea?" by Kobi Yamada. Illustrated by Mae Besom.
In today's episode I'm pondering not only dreaming big, but actually taking those dreams from theory to action.
I'm thinking of my friend Jeff, who died a few years ago, but who always saw the best in me even if I couldn't see it for myself. With him, I created a platform called W.H.Y. Dream Big, where the WHY stood for We Help You. It was a fun dream, but it never really got going.
Why do some of us live our dreams and others just stay in the dream state?
I share an excerpt from the book "BE 2.0" by Jim Collins and Bill Lazier which is inspiring me to move from only dreaming to actually living.
Today's guest is Jessie Torres, a Peak Performance Coach and Life Strategist, who has coached thousands of high performance people from all walks of life and various parts of the world.
Jessie is fueled by a passionate love for humanity and burning desire to end suffering.
In this episode we talk about how Jessie got to where she is today, and the fierce grace which helped to transform her own life, and now is the name of her company. She helps people transform their lives from pain or trauma into purpose and passion.
Find out more about Jessie at her website, www.IamFierceGrace.com.
Today's guest is Scott Allan, author and entrepreneur dedicated to transforming human potential.
Scott is a former corporate business trainer in Japan for more than 20 years, and has invested more than 10,000 hours of practice and research in confidence development, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and mindset optimization.
He is passionate about teaching, building life skills, and inspiring others to take charge of their lives.
In this episode, we talk about how what can seem like coincidence or luck, is actually preparation waiting for an opportunity to be applied. Scott shares his experiences with his ability to manifest those opportunities by creating the future he truly desired to live into.
Scott is the author of more than 30 self improvement books across five book series, each contributing to the advancement of human potential.
Find out more at www.scottallanpublishing.com.
Today my guest is Crystal Chambers, who I met at NLP Trainer Training in 2022. We talk about, among other things, our experience with NLP (Neuro Lingustic Programming) and how this modality helped her with her own neurodivergent challenges in visualizion techniques.
Crystal's company, Sheepdog Therapeutics, revolutionizes emotional wellness and balance with transformative, scalable virtual reality techniques. Their proprietary software called DISCOVReality, is an immersive guided Virtual Reality experience to help propel emotional well-being on a large scale, cost-effectively, without the need for constant, human-supervised touch.
The power of this immersive guided VR experience is in its ability to get to the root feeings, which often are not accessible to our conscious minds, allowing for significant changes with conditions like PTSD and unconscious limiting beliefs so we can learn to resolve conflicts internally.
If you'd like more information about Crystal's work, go to SheepdogTherapeutics.com
You can also follow Crystal on LinkedIn.
In this episode I talk about how focused most people seem to be on what they don't want instead of knowing clearly what they do want.
I share ideas from the book "Working With the Law" by Raymond Holliwell, where he addresses 11 Truth Principles for Successful Living including the Law of Thinking, the Law of Supply, the Law of Attraction, the Law of Receiving, the Law of Increase, the Law of Compensation, the Law of Non-Resistance, the Law of Forgiveness, the Law of Sacrifice, the Law of Obedience, and the Law of Success.
I also mention the books "Think and Grow Rich" as well as "Outwitting the Devil," both by Napoleon Hill.
Check out my course called "REAL Me: Intensive" at https://getrealcircle.com, and find out more about our Monday Enlightened Leadership Lab at https://enlightenedleadershiplab.com.
Every now and then I come across someone I hear about or notice online or through other contacts and I think "I need to know this person."
That's how I felt about this week's guest Adrienne Ross. We share so many interests: leadership, speaking, we're both authors, we're both podcasters, we're both former journalists, we're both English majors, and, probably most importantly, we're both huge fans of the WNBA ("the W") and the Indiana Fever, thanks to Caitlin Clark.
Now a resident of Southeast Missouri, Adrienne is the author of an inspirational book entitled Push Your Way to Purpose: How to Get from Where You Are to Where You’re Meant to Be. Filled with stories from her own life, it provides tools to help people fulfill their purpose. Adrienne is also the author of two illustrated books of humorous quotations and stories, #AuntAlma Unleashed: Old, Bold, and Out of Control and #AuntAlma: Raisin’ a Little Hell Heaven on Earth. Both are filled with common sense, comedy—and a little bit of chaos—straight from her real-life aunt, Alma Ross.
Through Adrienne Ross Communications, Adrienne speaks at schools, churches, and national and international service organization conferences. She facilitates empowerment workshops and conducts seminars based on Push Your Way to Purpose.
She also teaches courses via her online school, ARC Academy. As a John Maxwell-certified speaker, trainer, and coach, Adrienne offers presentations, keynote addresses, and coaching, providing leadership training, inspiration, guidance, and accountability to groups and individuals.
During this conversation, we share our perspectives and our opinions about everything from leadership to basketball to politics, as well as some of the mechanics of podcasting.
The Adrienne Ross Show is her podcast on podcast platforms and YouTube. You can find more about her at AdrienneRossCom.com.
Today's episode is a result of pondering some of the conversations that I've been observing both in person and online.
It seems there are so many opportunities people are choosing to be upset, and consequently choosing to cancel things and people these days. What kind of community is built when people choose to stay in their own silos and echo chambers?
Compare that to opportunities to build true community (using Peter Block's definition from his book Community: The Structure of Belonging) when we not only feel we belong, but also feel a sense of ownership in what we're building.
I refer, yet again, to The 15 Commitments of Conscious Leadership and the simplicity of working to stay conscious: Open, Curious, and Committed to Learning as we observe what's happening around us.
Wonder, Ponder, and Share your observations.
Check out the Enlightened Leadership Lab if you're looking for a place to belong.
It's so easy to make a statement about how things are and then begin to believe that that's how things are. All the time. In every case. And many times that initial statement isn't even one I made from my own thought process. It might be something I heard on TikTok or from my parent or teacher or someone who certainly knows better than I could. What does it mean to keep it REAL? And how do any of us do that? Here is the AI list I mention in this episode about how to keep it real: "Keep it real" is a slang phrase that means to behave honestly and not pretend to be someone you're not. Here are some tips for keeping it real: * Be vulnerable: Share your struggles and wins equally. * Be open: Stay open without oversharing and listen and learn about others. * Be humble: Start from a place of confident humility. * Be a lifelong learner: Don't try to have all the answers and challenge yourself to learn something new each week. * Focus on what energizes you: Do activities that energize you.
Call me crazy. Call me soft. Call me touchy-feely. Call me toxically positive. It's OK. I've been called all of those before.
For me, leadership is (almost) all about character. The policies and the mission and the purpose for the organization is very separate (TO ME) from the character of the leadership. It's the distinction between what your organization DOES and who its leaders are BEING when they are doing the doing. To me, that's what it means to be CONSCIOUS (open, curious, committed to learning) as opposed to UNCONSCIOUS (closed, defensive, committed to being right). It's always been about character. To me.
Let's talk about culture and the character of the leaders.
Today I share a response I got from ChatGPT when I asked it to compare the culture of a corporation led by a conscious leader to the culture of a certain country led by a certain person. Fascinating.
Here, in a nutshell, is the distinction:
National Culture Under (Insert name here)
For me, leadership has much more to do with the CHARACTER of the person than with the policies or procedures of the organization. If I trust someone, I'm much more likely to follow, especially if that leader encourages me to think critically about things rather than just follow blindly. It was a fascinating prompt and response, regardless of what you think about AI.

Wayne Dyer had a great quote I'll never forget: When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.
Today I'm pondering that thought while also applying some of what I'm learning from two clients who are investing in their people by having me facilitate dialogues without a guaranteed result. What?? Really??
I share information about my REAL Me: Intensive course which we're halfway through in this current cohort.
If you're looking for ways to connect on a deeper level with yourself first, and others who are also interested in that, you can find more information at www.jodeebock.com or at www.enlightenedleadershiplab.com/invite.
Today's episode was a blast! I had a conversation with LA Attorney, and former co-owner of the LA Sparks of the WNBA Carla Christofferson.
Carla was born and raised in North Dakota, graduating from high school with 13 classmates in Tolna. She went on to UND Williston where she played basketball, and went on to UND. In the meantime, she was also crowned Miss North Dakota, and went on to Yale Law School, eventually joining the law firm O'Melveny & Myers in Los Angeles.
In this conversation we talk about all the things: growing up in North Dakota, family values, the prestige of meeting celebrities in LA (including Eddie Van Halen, who she dated) and how she came to be co-owner of a WNBA team.
Recently I've had some "random" thoughts that have led to some pretty incredible "chance" meetings and encounters.
Are these just lucky meetings? Coincidences? Or is there something else going on?
In today's episode I wonder about what happens when we actually pay attention. What are we just not noticing because we're stuck in the way we think things "should" be?
I mention the books "Working With the Law" by Raymond Holliwell and "Spiral Dynamics in Action" by Beck, et.al.
If you'd like more information about the Enlightened Leadership Lab which I co-host with Chris Angell, go to www.enlightenedleadershiplab.com/invite.
In today's stream-of-consciousness episode I refer to several books:
The Soft Edge by Rich Karlgaard
Excellence Now: Extreme Humanism by Tom Peters
The Mystic Jesus by Marianne Williamson
The 15 Commitments of Conscious Leadership by Dethmer, Chapman & Klemp
Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill
In Peters' book he says that "Hard (numbers/plans/org charts) is soft: Plans are often fantasties; organizational charts have little to do with the way the organizatoin actually works; and numbers are readily manipulated....Soft (people/relationships/culture) is hard: The best 'people practices' (caring, training, acknowledging) create teh most wholesome, community-minded organizations - and win in the marketplace as well") pp. 25-26.
Here is the fifth point of the Self-Confidence formula from Think and Grow Rich to which I refer:
"I fully realize that no wealth or position can long endure unless built upon truth and justice; therefore, I will engage in no transaction that does not benefit all whom it affects. I will succeed by attracting to myself the forces I wish to use and the cooperation of other people. I will induce others to serve me because of my willingness to serve others. I will eliminate hatred, envy, jealousy, selfishness, and cynicism by developing love for all humanity - because I know that a negative attitude toward others can never bring me success. I will cause others to believe in me because I will believe in them, and in myself."
Chloe Valdary, founder of the Theory of Enchantment, has accomplished a lot in her relatively short life. She created her platform as a response to her research into international conflicts, when she noticed there was no framework using love to address those types of situations.
She wanted to learn how to teach people to love the human behind the persona, and studied pop culture to learn a way to do that.
Through stories about overcoming challenges, those brands show two important things about the human condition: we are flawed, and we are sacred. Her work centers around bringing inclusion, trust and well-being into organizations where conventional DEI work might not be producing the desired results.

Every Wednesday morning for the past five years I've gotten together - virtually - with this group of humans. We've shared laughs and tears; we've been through deaths and family challenges and lots of victories together.
This group proves that trouble shared is trouble halved, and joy shared is joy multiplied.
Listen in as Dody Kettler from Minneapolis, Theresa Halvorson from Fargo, Ed LeQuire from Rochester, MN and David Boswell from Austin, TX join me for this peek behind the curtain into how our tribe has supported each of us over the past five years.
Today's episode continues my exploration of the book "The 15 Commitments of Conscious Leadership." I explore the concept of commitment, and also share the Change Formula from this book:
(V x D) + FS > R = C
(Vision x Dissatisfaction) + First Steps > Resistance = Change
If we aren't compelled enough to actually overcome our resistance to change, there's no reason to beat ourselves up about it. We might simply be interested (we'll do what it takes when it's easy), but not committed (we'll do what it takes even when the emotion we said it in wears off).
It's going to take committed citizens to actually create sustainable change. If we're operating consciously, we remain Open, Curious, and Committed to Learning, and then we become compelled to actually DO SOMETHING to have that change happen.
I also mention the Enlightened Leadership Lab, our Monday community where we connect in a safe space to take our ideas to action. Find out more at www.enlightenedleadershiplab.com.
If you look at your life from an objective perspective, can you see how you learned things? Were the lessons that seemed most important to you ones you learned in a formal class? Or did they just kind of show up for you in a "random" way? Today I share some ahas I've had recently after a couple of enlightening conversations with friends. I touch on the topic of money, playing an infinite game, agreements we've made about "rules." What causes you to wake up to new awarenesses?
Today I talk about Leadership - is it more about the LEADER or the SHIP?
I have help from several friends who engaged in the dialogue through Facebook chat.
We covered topics like consciousness, ego, intention, love & fear, and dialogue, and proved that energy really is non-geographic: we can FEEL things even virtually.
I also mentioned the Enlightened Leadership Lab, which is a group I co-facilitate with Chris Angell on Mondays. We also have a weekly podcast, where we debrief the week's conversation.
You can find more at www.enlightenedleadershiplab.com. My course, REAL Me: Intensive, starts June 3 for 6 weeks on Mondays.

Since January of this year I've been working with a client and our focus is building the Culture, Communication, and Leadership within their organization as they work to become an employer of choice. They are focusing on not only recruiting employees but attracting them, which is a subtle but important shift. Our Q2 focus is on Communication to Appreciate and Recognize. We started by contemplating the distinction between the Golden Rule and the Platinum Rule as it relates to communication. I've started wondering and pondering that rule in my own life in the past few weeks as it relates to politics. And I've had some revelations. Today I talk about my online community called the Enlightened Leadership Lab (www.enlightenedleadershiplab.com) and my six-week online course called REAL Me: Intensive (www.getrealcircle.com). I also mention the book "The 15 Commitment of Conscious Leadership" by Dethmer, Chapman, and Klemp and The Platinum Rule of Communication by Dr. Tony Alessandra.
In today's episode I talk a bit about my own self-awareness journey. Self-awareness is such an interesting journey. Once you begin to awaken, it's difficult - if not impossible - to go back to the way you used to see things. You can become aware of things in a new light, and you can observe out of judgment or out of compassion ... or maybe just out of curiosity. What are you beginning to notice that you didn't notice before? Was it there all the time and you just didn't have eyes to see it or is it truly a new observation?
In today's episode I dig into fear, which, really, is just the opposite of love. It's what takes us over when our egos get involved.
I cite few resources today, mostly Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill, but also the Landmark Forum (www.landmarkworldwide.com) and A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle.
Fear is either authentic: it awakens you to something that threatens your physical survival, or it's inauthentic: everything else.
I talk about the Fear of Poverty from Think and Grow Rich, and how much of a hold that unconscious fear might have on so many of us.
I also mention a couple of membership groups I co-facilitate. The Enlightened Leadership Lab (www.enlightenedleadershiplab.com) meets on Mondays from 3-4:30 central, and the Bentley Club group meets on Wednesdays from 11-12 central. There we are studying the principles of Think and Grow Rich, and will be jumping into Hill's 1938 book Outwitting the Devil next.
Connect with me at my website, www.jodeebock.com if you'd like more info.
Back in 2016 I fulfilled one of my bucket list items: To speak on a TEDx stage. And, I also fulfilled a not-so-great "goal": to see if I could recover from a very public mess-up.
I bombed my only attempt at a TEDx talk (I literally forgot what I was going to say).
I've learned a lot since then, but have never watched the video. I've never ever revisited the message I wanted to convey, until I shared this story with my REAL EA group yesterday. They challenged me to share the story, and share the message I wanted to share that night in 2016.
So here it is ... without the drama and shame and upset that went with it in the moment.
(And it's actually Episode 208 ...)

Wellness is so much more than just physical.
Today's guest, Dr. Stefanie Meyer, is an expert in health: body, mind, spirit. She is committed to assisting people in being well. That's very different than treating the symptoms of illness.
She wants to be able to support people on the "well" end of the spectrum, rather than the "ill" end.
Throughout her journey, Stefanie has been uncovering what her passion "isn't," as she's gotten clearer on what her passion actually "is."
In this conversation we talk about perspective, perception, what works and what doesn't to help all of us live a full and WELL life.
Stefanie's consulting business is called Sustainably Well, and you can get in touch with her through her LinkedIn profile at: linkedin.com/in/stefanie-meyer-phd
Self-awareness might be the single greatest advantage leaders will have and can develop in order to experience the world the way they truly desire to experience it. What are you doing to grow your own awareness? In this episode I talk about the concept of listening to your calling, which I define as "a strong inner pull or sense of purpose that drives a person to pursue activities, work, or causes that align with their values, passions, and talents, and that bring them a deep sense of meaning and fulfillment." I also mentioned an idea by Einstein that has us ask ourselves if the universe is a friendly or an unfriendly place. The way we answer that will affect the way we interact with anyone or anything in our space. Ponder along with me some of these deep thoughts and think for yourself. What would you do? How would you be? If you would like to have more of these types of conversations on a regular basis, consider joining the Enlightened Leadership Lab. You can find out more at www.enlightenedleadershiplab.com.
Today's conversation is with Jerry Nabb, a brand new friend I've been following on Facebook for the past year or so. Jerry is a personal and business coach who has been on a long and purposeful journey.
In this conversation, he shares parts of that journey and also the wisdom he's been accessing his entire life.
Jerry reminded me that if I can just open my eyes, ears and heart to possibilities, new friends, connections and conversations are there just waiting to be invited and accepted.
If you'd like to learn more about Jerry, follow him on Facebook or reach out through his website: https://innovstrategies.com.
Back in my Keller Williams days now a decade ago, I learned an acronym from a very wise teacher named Dick Dillingham. The acronym was what we as presenters and trainers and coaches would benefit from becoming. The acronym was KOOL: Keen Observer Of Life. I've never forgotten that, and I've been practicing ever since. In today's episode I share some of my ponderings as I do my best to remain KOOL. If you'd like more info about some of the events I've got coming up, check out my website: JodeeBock.com.
This episode was recorded on Valentines Day, a day typically experienced by those in relationships.
But what if you spend some time, whether you are in a relationship or unaccompanied, caring for and loving YOU today (and every day)?
I share some insights and some distinctions that might help you take care of YOU.
Here is a link for our Chill Out experience this year: https://chillout2024.eventbrite.com.
In today's episode, I share some distinctions I'm becoming acutely aware of in my everyday life, along with an aha I had as I'm doing some pondering this past week.
The distinctions are between Interest and Commitment, and also between doing things Solo or doing them Together.
My aha had to do with my core desire for connection.
Thanks to those who watched live as I was recording!

Today's conversation is with author and speaker Michael Ivanov whose newest book "This Is Why I'm Here" is his first non-fiction work explaining what's he's learned - and continues to learn - about living his life on purpose.
As a child, Michael immigrated with his parents and seven siblings to the United States just before the collapse of the Soviet Union and the end of the Cold War. Michael is the grandson of a ‘Siege of Leningrad’ and Dachau camp survivor.
His talent for story-telling and the way he weaves success principles into his books and speeches, motivate and empower audiences to smash fears, limitations, and passive, excuse-oriented mindsets.
In addition to his current book, Michael is the author of four novels, each of which introduces principles for living life with purpose.
He reveals how the personal choices we make, the attitudes we carry, and the principles we choose to live by, determine the success & quality of our lives.
Connect with Michael at his website, https://www.speaklife365.com or find him on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/themichaelivanov/.
Inviting someone to something and having them accept the invitation are two different things. Let's talk about attachment and commitment, shall we?
Today I mention Dick Richards and his book "Is Your Genius At Work?" where I discovered the name for my genius: Inviting Dialogue.
If you want more information about Chill Out, the event I talk about in this conversation, go to https://chillout2024.eventbrite.com.
What fun it was to connect with a gradeschool classmate in this episode! Nan Gesche moved away when she was in 6th grade, but we kept up with each others' lives and careers and it was so fun to connect with her on purpose!
Both Nan and I were raised by mothers who were educators, so it's no surprise this conversation had a lot to do with lifelong learning.
Nan is an energetic speaker, educator, and coach who uses experience, insight, and some sturdy research, all sprinkled with a little humor, to get people to see themselves and the world differently. Her passion is "Helping people play well together!" Nan provides clients a chance to ponder and practice different ways of thinking and acting around change, conflict, decision making, communication, and leadership all in hopes of providing more positive outcomes.
She received her M.A. in Organizational Communications and a professional certificate in Training & Development from the University of Minnesota (U of M). She received her B.A. in Economics from the University of North Dakota. She currently on faculty in the U of M’s Communication Studies department and the College of Continuing and Professional Studies, St. Thomas’ Center of Excellence, and the Graduate School of Banking in Madison.
During our conversation, we touched on lots of subjects, from DEI to ROE (Rules of Engagement), from the importance of mentors who believe in you to moving information from theory to application.
If you'd like to learn more about Nan, visit her website at www.nangesche.com, find her on Linked In, or feel free to text her at 952-693-5312.
Today's episode was a Facebook Live conversation I had with five others who added their comments and suggestions around the topic of Intention as explained by Wayne Dyer in his book The Power of Intention: Learning to Co-create Your World Your Way.
Dr. Dyer's definition is this: "Intention is a force in the universe that allows the act of creation to take place."
How different would the world be if we stopped forcing things to happen and got into the practice of allowing them to happen?
I also talk about our Chill Out Retreat in Fargo in February. Here is the link for that event: https://chillout2024.eventbrite.com.
You can find more opportunities to connect and to learn more about yourself at https://jodeebock.com.
Today I am my own guest and I'm talking about Conscious Leadership.
I mention a lot of resources today ... here's a list of those:
Enlightened Leadership Lab (https://enlightenedleadershiplab.com)
Becoming a Conscious Leader by Gina Hayden, The 15 Commitments of Conscious Leadership by Dethmer, Chapman & Klemp, and I might have alluded to Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.
Today's guest is Tommy Spaulding, the founder and president of Tommy Spaulding Companies, a leadership development, speaking, training, and teambuilding organization based in Denver. He is also a New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today best-selling author of three books: It's Not Just Who You Know, The Heart-Led Leader, and The Gift of Influence.
Every day we humans get to choose whether we will be Leaders, Followers, or Critics. And, if we choose to be Leaders, there are two types: Servant Leaders-, or what Tommy calls Heart-Led Leaders, or self-serving leaders.
According to Tommy's research, 90% of leaders are self-serving. This is just one reason his work is so crucial.
During this conversation, Tommy and I talk about the importance of helping leaders first love themselves, which seems to have been the missing element in leadership development programs for so many years.
We also talk about our mutual friend Steve Farber, author of four books, and Tommy's mentor. It was at Steve's Extreme Leadership event that Tommy and I first met several years ago.
I also mention work by Everett Rogers on the Law of Diffusion of Innovations. Find out more here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diffusion_of_innovations
If you'd like more information about Tommy, send him an email at Tommy@TommySpaulding.com or visit his website at www.tommyspaulding.com Find out more about Steve Farber at www.stevefarber.com.
Dick Richards is a man of many talents. I first met him nearly 20 years ago through the (then) new world of blogging, and I eventually met him in person at an event he facilitated in Minneapolis and I was intrigued with his process called Naming Your Genius.
I eventually brought Dick to Fargo to facilitate Genius workshops as part of an event called the Bigger Small Talk Summit, which I hosted for 3 subsequent years somewhere around 2008.
His 30-year career in deep energy work as it relates to executive leadership and communication is so important, and in this episode we talk about some of his experiences as a consultant which took him to 14 different countries.
We also share a passion for art, so you'll learn more about that aspect of Dick's talent here as well.
Dick is the author of four books: "The Art of Winning Commitment," "Setting Your Genius Free," "Artful Work," and "Is Your Genius At Work?"
If you'd like to subscribe to Dick's newsletter, send him an email at RARichards@substack.com. You can also see (and purchase!) his artwork at dickrichardsart.com.
Tough times tend to be painful ... but they open us up to take a new look at our lives.
Today's guest is Nova Wightman, author of the book "Awake and Aligned." Nova is also the owner and operator of Go Within Life Coaching, a certified Co-Active Life Coach (CPCC), a CwG Coach (Conversations with God) on Neale Donald Walsch’s team, an NLP Practitioner, speaker, author and workshop facilitator, a Reiki practitioner, and is trained in and attuned to the Akashic Records.
In this conversation, we talk about the big questions like: "Who am I? Who do I want to be? Where am I going? Does my current life support that?"
Nova points out a lot of very useful and insightful ways to take awareness into real life and impact the world we are living in right now.
If you want to connect with Nova, take a look at her website, www.novawightman.com. In addition, Nova will be one of the presenters at Chill Out 2024, so if you want to meet her in person, get your ticket at chillout2024.eventbrite.com.
There was every reason to believe that today's interview wasn't going to happen. Technology issues for both of us might have prevented us from recording. But where there is a will, there is a way, and higher conversations just need to be born into the world.
Today I chat with Transformation Coach April Mata, who helps women transition from their corporate careers into their dream businesses by overcoming financial blocks and fear of making the big leap.
There is so much irony in today's conversation based on what both April and I KNOW about in our intellect and what we are each witnessing in our KNOWINGNESS. Coincidences? Maybe. But in this short but powerful conversation, we discover some of those in very non-accidental ways.
What can happen when what you KNOW about things actually manifests itself into your very BEING? Listen in and witness.
To learn more about April's work, visit her on LinkedIn at https://www.linkedin.com/in/aprilolsonmata/ or email her at aprilolsonmata@gmail.com.

W. Coby Milne is the co-founder of Roman 3, a company named for the play on the Roman numeral 3. Their approach, like their name, draws on the process of INSPIRING change, fostering INNOVATION, and managing IMPLEMENTATION.
I "met" Coby through a random LinkedIn invitation, and we immediately hit it off. So much so that we are partnering to help a client measure results from intangibles like culture and leadership.
Listen in as Coby explains how he is using his project management skills to create an organization that is committed to measuring - and delivering value with - results that are difficult to measure.

Today's podcast interview was so much fun! Joey Torkildson and I have been friends for several years, even though we've never met in person. Our relationship is a perfect example of how energy is non-geographic and how allowing conversations to emerge uncovers synchronicities and possibilities we might not otherwise recognize.
Joey is the owner and co-founder of Voila, a real estate company in the Twin Cities.
Joey and his team are disrupting the real estate industry by building their company on these core values:
Delight the World A way to live this life – giving unexpected joy!
Contribution without Condition There is nothing better then giving of your time, self, or resources, with zero strings attached.
Move the Couch Sometimes requests of us are not convenient or easy, and our first thought maybe “how can I get out of this”.. then we remember…Move the Couch!
Slow Down to the Speed of Love What would love do? Show others patience- kindness- understanding..
Wear Sweatpants Taking life to seriously can be exhausting, and egos get in the way of what feels right.
Bounce Not Break Life is hard, and inevitably we will face challenging times. Instead of shattering like glass, bounce like a ball!
Have Faith and Be Patient Trust everything will work out in the end…it always does!
Flavor First In a world full of Bagels, be a sprinkled doughnut!

Despite what many people might believe, it is possible to create a career doing something you love.
Today's guest, Jonah Lantto, is living that belief as he's making a career of podcasting.
Jonah is the co-founder, host, and producer of the Midwest Murder Podcast, and has come to this career through discovering what he loved about the jobs he had before becoming an entrepreneur and making a living from podcasting.
Listen in and hear how confidence (not arrogance), humility, and possibility created an opportunity only Jonah could have lived into, owning his place in the world and his reactions with reality.
Jonah is living a life that can inspire others to do what they love, too.

Katie Gross considers herself a "chaser of mystical and spiritual experiences" and she does that in her profession as a spiritual health nurse and cannabis nurse navigator. As a patient and a nurse, she has witnessed the gaps in the current “healthcare” model, so she decided to do something about it.
Her organization is called Your Higher Path Healing, and during this conversation we talked about many things including letting go of trauma by reconnecting the spirit to the body.
The many, many choices available for healing make it nearly impossible to sort through them all, so Katie sees herself as a facilitator who helps navigate those choices for people who are ready to take charge of their lives.

Dean McMurray is known as the Military Medium because of his accidental ability to connect with people who have crossed over. Dean is an internationally acclaimed psychic, medium, healer, dowser and ordained minister who lives in my hometown of Fargo, North Dakota.
Dean always considered himself the "king of the logicians," as his military training would have him believe that if you can't shoot it, eat it, drive it, or do a form on it, it couldn't possibly be real.
Imagine his shock when his deceased grandmother visited him in the middle of the night.
During this interview, Dean tells the story of how he discovered this gift and what it means for him and his clients and others he can help connect with their deceased loved ones.
Find out more about Dean at his website, https://deanmcmurray.com.
Many people see Post Traumatic Stress as a disorder mostly experienced by combat veterans. But today's guest, Scott Geiselhart, sheds new light on this subject from his perspective as a volunteer firefighter.
Scott spent more than 20 years as a small-town fire fighter, and didn't realize the toll his experiences rescuing and saving - and sometimes losing - people he actually knew would take on him.
In this interview, Scott shares his story that took him down a very dark path until he discovered what was happening to him, and found relief in the form of what some might consider an alternative healing modality.
If you'd like to connect with Scott, visit his website at https://www.seeingincoloragain.com/ or reach out to him by text/phone at 218-849-4948 or by email at scott.geiselhart@gmail.com. He is committed to helping anyone who feels like he felt when the world was gray, to see in color again.
Jon Walters used a new term (to me) during this conversation: The Reality of Fatality.
We talked about a lot of things, not the least of which included Jon's recent belief that, at 34 years old, he truly believed he had peaked, and his best days were behind him.
Through a series of twists and turns, both personally and professionally, Jon shares his story, including the emotions and feelings that, as a man, he was trained and conditioned not only not to express, but also not to feel.
While Jon's story is still being lived (as are all of our stories), Jon shares some of the very fresh and raw revelations and awarenesses he's going through, including the formation of a Men's Circle where he's learning to hold space not as a leader, but as a witness to the stories and emotions and feelings which make all of us human.
Find Jon on all the socials. He's JonFromFargo on Instagram, Jon Walters on Facebook, and JonOfTheNorth on TikTok. He'll also answer a good old-fashioned email at JonFromFargo@gmail.com.

Dan Tinquist is the founder of ConfiDAD, a coaching and training platform that supports parents in seeing, hearing, and really knowing their children.
In this interview, Dan and I talk about his journey with a career he loved, which took him away from his wife and four sons. When he realized that there just might be a way to combine those loves, he created ConfiDAD to help parents build deeper and more joyous bonds with their kids.
ConfiDAD offers a monthly masterclass, a course called More Than Loved, as well as one-on-one coaching.

Whoever said that law was stuffy and scary never met Tom Kading. Tom is the founder of Fargo Patent & Business Law, and he is working to change the perspective of his field, professionally and culturally.
Tom's pre-law studies were in engineering, and he enjoys putting the pieces of an idea or a concept together, which serves him very well as a business and patent attorney.
In this interview, you will learn how Tom's mission and vision are attracting employees, partners, and clients who share his family-oriented and community-enhancing vision.

When you are willing to do what it takes to achieve or experience your true desires, even when the emotion you said it in wears off, you're committed to that future.
In this conversation, Melissa Simanek and I talk about how her life has shifted since she made that decision. She shows that once you make a decision, the universe conspires on your behalf. A life of your own design proves that first you make the decision, and then the decision makes you. It's not what happens to you, it's who you become in the process.
The course to which Melissa is referring is the REAL Me: Intensive course. You can find more information about it at https://www.enlightenedleadershiplab.com/REAL-ME.
You will find Melissa on Facebook as GettingReal Melissa and on Instagram as the_mrs_simanek.
The Beach Boys were on to something all those years ago with their beachy summertime music. But there's more to it than a great beat. What are we doing to keep our vibe high? Do we even know what that means? Today I talk about a lot of resources including Spiral Dynamics (I listened to the audio version of Spiral Dynamics Integral, but you can find lots of info about this concept in various locations), Esther and Jerry Hicks's book "Ask and It Is Given," David Hawkins book "Power vs. Force," and also A Course in Miracles. If you are interested in having these kinds of conversations on a regular basis, check out https://www.enlightenedleadershiplab.com/ (Mondays from 3-4:30 central) or ask about the REAL EA membership group (Wednesdays from 4-5 central). You can learn more about the REAL Me: Intensive course I mentioned at https://www.enlightenedleadershiplab.com/REAL-ME. We are taking applications now for our fall session. Also, check out my other podcast, Enlightened Leadership wherever you get your podcasts, or you can see it at the above link. There Chris Angell and I are talking about the conversations we have in the Enlightened Leadership Lab on Mondays.
Today I'm going LIVE without an agenda ... kinda like tightrope walking without a net.
I took some prompts from Rick Rubin's book "The Creative Act," but didn't need too much help when friends showed up and added their comments.
Thank you to Kelly, Andrea, Dawn, & Melissa for the conversation!
If you'd like more information about the REAL Me course, head over to https://getrealcircle.com and take a look.
What you are seeking is also seeking you!
Today's conversation was a true example of what can happen when two people who don't even know each other very well get together and allow the Master Mind to be present.
Matthew Cooksey is a therapist, coach, truth seeker, and speaker who is on a mission to help people embrace their human-mess - so we can all lead our best lives.
He reached out to me after hearing my podcast interview with Ian Williams, and we created the space for this very spontaneous and unscripted conversation where we talked about generational beliefs that have many of us living just a portion of the lives we were sent here to live.
Matthew shares his story of never feeling good enough, and how he literally fell off a treadmill which was the beginning of his awakening to who he really is.
Download Matthew's Nine Signs You Have a Masterpiece Trapped Inside You at his website, www.matthewcooksey.com.
Today's episode is kind of an accidental recording. Anthony reached out and wanted to connect, but I wasn't sure it was going to be a podcast episode, so I was recording in my car. But I'm glad I did!
Anthony Hamilton is the author of Mind, Time & Power, and was a guest on this pocast a few episodes ago. In this conversation he shares his recent experience on a trip to England where he experienced yet again, the power of synchronicities.
You'll hear how Anthony actually created, in his vision, a talk he later gave to a group in England and the enlightnenment that created in his awareness.
If you'd like to learn more about Anthony, or to get a copy of his book Mind, Time and Power, go to www.mindtimeandpower.com. You can also join his community and get a free workbook to help you start noticing and recording these "coincidences."
Josh Hoper is truly a renaissance man.
He started his career in finance and technology, and his own personal evolution has led him into an entrepreneurial venture called Torchlight AE where he works with clients as a coach, consultant, and facilitator to help them first identify their own light and then use it to light the way for their own customers and associates.
When humans can begin to tap into their own authenticity, their businesses will follow suit.
In this conversation Josh and I discover why we love getting together in real life: it's to demonstrate the theme of this podcast: to have conversations that matter with people who matter.
If you'd like to learn more about Josh, visit his website at www.torchlight.ae or find him on all the socials. He'd love to connect!
Andrea Hensrud is a licensed occupational therapist & certified health and life coach who is on fire to change the way the world experiences infertility. While that process really impacted Andrea's identity in what might be called a negative way, during this conversation, we unpack what it means to shift from an old belief system to one that, while different, doesn't have to be negative.
Andrea hosts a podcast called Diagnosis: Infertility, where she hosts conversations about infertility, sure, but also about all kinds of other issues and challenges - and victories - people can experience on that journey.

We all know what social media is, right? It's for showing your cat photos and your vacation videos and letting people know what you had for lunch.
Yes ... AND ... there is a lot more to learn and to implement if we want to get social media to work for us as we build our businesses.
Today in studio I chatted with social media expert Kaitlin Morales and her client, real estate professional Jenn Bergen. We unpacked a lot of reasons social media is crucial to building a relationship, not just a transaction.
If it's true that people do business with people they know, like, and trust, listen in as Jenn shares her experience having Kaitlin take the reins and show the world who Jenn is .... beyond the business.
You can find out more about Kaitlin and her social media wizardry at K&J Creative Company or contact her by email at KJCreativeCoLLC@gmail.com.

Transformation is part of the nature of creativity and aliveness. Just look out your window and see how nature does it.
It's not an easy process ... but it can be simple. So says today's guest Ian C. Williams, author of the Amazon bestseller Soil & Spirit: Seeds of Purpose, Nature's Insight & the Deep Work of Transformational Change.
In this conversation, Ian shares his personal journey, which informs his corporate work. If we are to experience a world at work or outside of work that revives civilization, the simple solution is for leaders to self-actualize.
In addition to being an author, Ian is an educator, speaker, and business advisor, and the founder of StillPoint Insight, where he and his team exist to help scale the impact of mission-driven organizations.

Bria Dimke is a remarkable woman. She is living the life many people only dream of because she is not afraid to take risks.
In this conversation, I learn from Bria how she has found herself, in her early 30s, living a life by her own design.
Bria follows her intuition and takes action others may wish they, too, could take, but don't because of practicalities that are probably not even true.
By following her joy, Bria has attracted connections that have led her to a sabbatical in Malaysia which led her to a stint as an NBA dancer to a master's degree in Germany where she is working for a European company where she is almost required to take time off and travel, another of her passions.
This is one inspiring interview!
You can find Bria on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/bria.dimke) where she shares photos of her adventures.
I got hacked on Friday night.
Someone broke into my Facebook account and got access to my phone number, shut down my account, and sent a text wanting a $200 ransom to get my account back. That isn't the way I wanted to spend a Friday night, but I refuse to give in to cynicism.

Some people have really good ideas, but never do anything with them.
That's not today's guest, Kyle Olson. Kyle has really good ideas and takes action.
Three years ago Kyle started the Longest Open House, a fundraising event to honor his father who died from Alzheimer's Disease. His idea was that he could combine his work as a Real Estate Agent with The Longest Day, a national event put on by the Alzheimer's Association. His idea was the Longest Open House.
So for the past three years, Kyle's event has broken the world's record for the Longest Open House, and he's well on his way to raising $100,000 for his cause.
In this episode, Kyle talks about this year's event, scheduled for June 23-25, 2023, when he is setting out to break his own record with a 64-hour marathon.
If you'd like to donate to Kyle's cause or come out and support his effort, you can find more information at https://movingfargomoorhead.com/longest-open-house-2/
Randy Jones is a name-dropper. And that's perfectly acceptable because, as the host of his podcast called Jones.Show: Jonesing For Good, he's had some pretty impressive guests, many of whom have become friends because of his uncanny ability to make authentic connections.
Among the guests we talk about on this episode are Pat Benetar, Erin Brockovich, Melissa Rivers, and the woman who provided the original voice for Siri, Susan C. Bennett.
In addition to his talent for putting people at ease as a podcast host, Randy is also an author, speaker, and entertainer with a wickedly fun sense of humor.
Listen in as we get REAL about mentorship, parenting, relationships, pets, and all things connection.
Find out more about Randy, including his books and his podcast, at his website: www.randallkennethjones.com.
Want to witness a REAL conversation without a clear-cut end in mind? Then you will love this conversation with Nick Reinke, CEO of HabiTerre, an advanced science and technology company that delivers actionable insights to improve Ag productivity, efficiency, and environmental outcomes.
During this conversation, Nick and I talk about growing up in the same rural North Dakota town one generation apart, and what that experience gave to each of us in similar and distinct ways.
You'll learn about Nick's personal journey which includes earning his MBA from Johns Hopkins University, and how, in looking back on his life so far, it seems all the dots are connecting to bring him exactly where he is at this point in time. We touch on topics as robust as climate change, mission, identity, conscious capitalism, and even serendipity.
There is a definite philosophical and even spiritual dimension to our conversation that anyone who is interested in being REAL will enjoy.
Connect with Nick via email at nick.reinke@habiterre.com and check out the website to learn why Nick is so passionate about his organization.
Today's episode is an accidental continuation (as in, I didn't plan it this way) of last week's inquiry into Dan Sullivan and Ben Hardy's "The Gap and the Gain."
If learning remains only theory, it's never as effective as it might be. Today I talk about some of my own insights and invite others in the Facebook Live chat to join me as we decipher and put into practice the ideas from Gain Thinking.
Today's episode is a result of Jodee's ponderings regarding Dan Sullivan and Dr. Benjamin Hardy's book "The Gap and the Gain," along with other thinking prompts from the week.
Included in those is the question "What is your utopia?"
Today's conversation is with Dr. Lance Secretan, author 24 books including the newest one, Reawakening The Human Spirit. In this episode we talk about living a life of purpose and fulfillment and how crucial that is to the reawakening of the entire world.
This new book pulls together his greatest work, and shows readers how to gain a new and deeper insight into life and the inspiring roles each of us were born to play as leaders, parents, siblings, off-spring, and human beings.
When workplaces are guided by leaders who lead the way by regaining the inspiration that has eluded many people over the past 3 years in particular, the world will change for the better.
Listen in as Lance tells us about the CASTLE Principles, the PIES learning style, and even throws in an Easter egg for you to find on the IMDB.com website if you search for his name.
To find out more about Lance and to order this book, go to Secretan.com. There you will also find many resources to help you live inspired. Download the Spirit @ Work cards app on your phone and you will have a shot of that inspiration right in your hand.
Dr. James Leiman has seen a lot and accomplished a lot and experienced a lot in his relatively short life, but when it comes to the opportunity to attract $40 billion dollars in global investment or creating opportunities with and for his family, he'll choose the latter.
He's currently doing that as he is taking a bit of a hiatus from in-person work to move his family to Puerto Rico where he wants them to have a full immersion in a different culture.
This conversation was rich in so many areas, including those you're not supposed to address in public: politics and religion. That's the beauty of getting REAL: there are no rules!
If you'd like to connect with James, he freely shares his email address: james.leiman@hotmail.com.
(Please forgive the background noise in the intro ... I have ocean sounds on in the background on this snowy March day!)
When you really think about it, the only thing that's REAL is where we are right now, in the present. Memories are either thoughts about something that's already happened that we are enjoying remembering, or regrets about things that didn't happen; and goals are simply possibilities that might happen that we choose to desire or worries that are possibilities that might happen that we don't desire. What can we take from the memories we want to keep and dream about the goals without the worries? How would that shift our activities in the present? Listen in as Jodee shares some random thoughts and ideas.
Today's guest is the author of the book "Mind, Time, and Power" and in this episode I promise you will learn a lot about a lot of topics from history to science to spirituality, all with some Canadian flair!
This book is 15 years in the creating, and here you will hear about the journey that got Anthony from a 10-year-old with a dream to a 75-year-old with a rich history.
If you'd like more information about Anthony and his work, visit mindtimeandpower.com.
There you will find workshops and links to Anthony's YouTube channel.
Teddy Roosevelt said that comparison is the thief of joy.
So why do we do it so often? In this episode I explore some of these ponderings.
I also add Barbara McAfee's song "Compared to What" which sums this concept up perfectly.
To find this song and lots of others by Barbara, go to https://www.barbaramcafee.com/
What happens when you get together with wholehearted others? Conversation turns to dialogue and the theme of this podcast happens: you circle up and get REAL.
Listen in as Community Builder, Coach, Thought Leader, and my friend Chris Angell and I riff about listening and what it takes to build an authentic community based on that listening.
This is an example of the rich dialogue that can happen when each party creates open listening space for the other to speak into without pretense or posturing or needing to be right.
If you want more info about Chris, you can find him at https://Facebook.com/chris.angell or at www.mygroundswell.com.
Ken Noble has an interesting story. He used to be a pastor, but life has led him in the direction of a new calling.
During this raw and authentic conversation, Ken and I talk about real subjects like depression, eating disorders, and how becoming an entrepreneur is not for the faint of heart or of faith.
Ken is a leadership speaker, coach, and trainer.
You can find more about Ken at The Ken Noble on all social platforms or at his website, NobleLeadershipSolutions.com.
Amanda Lurz might be called a PolyMind. (This is a new term which I just learned about this past week which applies to people with a lot of varied interests.)
Amanda is a nurse, a real estate professional, she and her husband have an excavating business, and she is a spiritual coach or, to use the title I unofficially gave her in this podcast, a "Cheerleader for Spiritual Growth."
If you are looking for information about wellness and would like to know why you've had trouble losing weight, you will get a golden nugget in this episode. If you'd like to learn a bit more about how "everything is spiritual," you'll get that, too.
Look Amanda up on Facebook if you'd like to learn more about coaching with her (https://www.facebook.com/amanda.wiedmanlurz). There you will see this lineup of titles: Anxiety-Buster, Confidence-Grower, Purpose-Pursuer, Integration-Obsessed #Personal Transformation Coach.
Enjoy!
Small talk is great - it's where we start out in connecting with others. But talk is really cheap if it only stays small. Of course, there are big talkers, who ONLY talk ... and that's not it either.
In this episode I recap our first Chill Out retreat in Fargo, ND.
What might you be missing by not taking a break and just chilling out once in a while? What conversations are you overlooking? What opportunities are eluding you?
Maybe you just need to Chill Out. (In Fargo ... in January!)
If what we focus on expands, then why are we focusing on what doesn't work or what we don't have or what we don't want? How is that working to create the effects we truly desire? Just because you can't see or touch something doesn't mean it isn't important. And the intangibles - those aspects of awareness and knowledge and leadership, for example - often lead directly to tangibles. Today I talk about some of the books I've been interested in recently that help me recognize that I don't always need to prove or convince when it comes to intangible.s I refer to The Infinite Game by Simon Sinek, Blind Spot by Jon Clifton, and The Economics of Higher Purpose by Robert Quinn & Anjan Thakor.
When some action you take produces a result, that's science. When some action you take produces a result you don't want, it's a simple adjustment. Why isn't it easy if it's so simple? Conditioning. Time has a way of making whatever we do over and over and over again "easier" than changing our minds and our actions about the results we are or aren't getting. Simple, sure. Just knock it off. But not easy, because, well, conditioning. That's not OK anymore, though. Knowing something and not doing something new with that knowledge is more frustrating than not knowing. So get with a group of others who will support you in the vibrational energy you DO desire, not that which you have fallen into by default. No one ever promised EASY, but here we are with SIMPLE staring us in the face. Your only job is to keep your vibrational energy HIGH so that you attract others in that space. Do it long enough and it becomes easy. I promise. Today I talk about the books "Outwitting the Devil" and "Leadership and Self Deception."
What if it's true that you don't attract what you WANT but you attract who you ARE? How might that change your way of BEING (or not)?
Today I explore what might happen if leaders - those who choose to go first - lead with courage and truly do go first.

Whatever you call it - not feeling good enough or worthy enough or that you will be "found out" if someone knows the real you, Impostor Syndrome hits so many people all over the world. (The jury's still out about the proper way to spell it, too ...)
Today I share a bit of my own journey in the world of not feeling good enough. Just imagine how the world would be different if all of us were REAL and told our own Truth without worrying so much about trying to be liked or appreciated or noticed.
I love this quote by Brene Brown: "The universe is not short on wake-up calls; we're just quick to hit the snooze button." Why is that? What is it about sleepwalking through our lives that is so magnetic? Is it perceived comfort? Is it momentum? Is it familiarity? The only way to truly live the life of your dreams is to WAKE UP and experience it. Today I talk about this concept of waking up and realizing the only way to actually LIVE the life you dream about is to wake up and take action. I mention a poem by Rumi (below) and also my course REAL Me: Intensive. Here is the link for more info: https://realmecircle.com/REAL-ME Rumi poem: The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell you. Don't go back to sleep. You must ask for what you really want. Don't go back to sleep. People are going back and forth across the doorsill where the two worlds touch. The door is round and open. Don't go back to sleep.
No one ever said life was going to be easy. It's not. There are hard choices and hard situations and hard obstacles. But you have a choice. It's going to be hard to do the right thing when so many others are making other choices. Choose it anyway. In today's episode I share some of the seemingly random thoughts I've been kicking around recently. Among the topics are discernment, character, reputation, and choice.
What does it mean to discern before you decide? And how often do we really actually decide on anything?
Today's stream-of-consciousness chat is inspired by my Saturday Mastermind group that has been meeting together in person and virtually for nearly 14 years. I took 1 1/2 pages of notes at that virtual gathering, and here I'll share insights about ego, Truth, Higher Self, anger, contrast, comparison, and much more.
Steve Jobs said you can only connect the dots of your life looking backward.
When you do that, what do you observe? Things you wish had been different? Or the ways the choices you made brought you right here, right now?
The way your mind is set is everything. Today I talk about some of the ahas I've been having by studying Napoleon Hill's "new" book Outwitting the Devil: The Original Unedited Complete Text. When you look back on your life, do you have regrets or do you see how everything is lining up perfectly to take you on the next adventure? I also talk about our upcoming event: Chill Out. Register here: https://chilloutfgo.eventbrite.com.
When will NOW be the right time for you to actually live the life you only dream about?
Today I share some thoughts about shifting our focus from the someday mentality to being what you desire to be someday right now today.
In order to live the life of your dreams, you will have to wake up. And today is as good as day as any to do just that!
I talk about an event coming up in January of 2023 called Chill Out. Here is the link to register: https://chilloutfgo.eventbrite.com.
Today I riff about this concept of FOMO: The Fear of Missing Out and what it might cost each of us in our reasonable minds.
Instead of worrying about what other people are telling us, what would happen if we got REAL with ourselves and determined what we REALLY desire instead?
Here is more information about our event in Fargo in January: https://chilloutfgo.eventbrite.com.
I say it's $100 early bird pricing - I meant to say it's $100 OFF the price. Sorry for the confusion!

When I learn something, I get excited to share it. I think everyone will want to learn what I think is interesting and exciting and when others don't have the same feeling about that, I used to get really down. I wanted outcomes and possibilities more for people than it seemed they wanted them for themselves. But then I had an aha. Today I share some of my new insights about abundance, imposed learning, and money. I reference A Course in Miracles and I read from A Course of Love. If you're interested in learning more about my upcoming events, here's REAL Me: Intensive: www.getrealcircle.com. Over the years many of us have understood - even in passing - the importance of professional development for the success of our careers. But fewer people seem to accept that Personal Development is even more crucial, especially if you accept that HUMANS are doing the work inside the careers. That idea of "it's not personal, it's business" may have worked for a while, but I'm wondering if that idea has passed its prime. In this episode I ponder the choices and decisions I've made and invite you to consider your own Reality Checklist. What do you truly desire? What are you doing to get that and how is it working? Go to JodeeBock.com to get more information about the REAL EA (Early Adopters) membership group starting in October.

Today Jodee shares reflections she's had with her friend Mark J. Lindquist, who is following his own calling all the way from Fargo to Ukraine to offer humanitarian aid.
What could each of us do in our lives if we knew our big why?

I firmly believed throughout my childhood and well into my adult life that other people/situations/rules/laws "made" me do or believe something that I either just accepted or didn't question. But this embedded belief has stifled my own learning and exploring and creativity and I didn't even realize it. If I allow someone else to "make" me mad, sad, or even glad, I've been had. Whoa. Listen in as I dissect some of these lessons I didn't even know ... until I did.
What if all the time you've felt like a square peg in a round hole, trying to fit in, and shaving off the square corners that make you unique, you've been avoiding the things that would attract to you everything you need to be the best you? In this episode I talk about that concept, and announce my new consulting business Square Corners Consulting!
Back in 2000, Jim Collins wrote the business classic Good To Great where he learned that one of the elements of business that moves in that direction is leadership. He categorized 5 levels of leadership, of which Level 5 is the pinnacle. Those leaders make a point to look out the window when things go well, but also take a good, hard look in the mirror when they don't. Might there be a correlation between leadership and The Great Resignation?
I think I suffer from a little bit of PTSD around the whole concept of selling. If any of our experience is based on something from our past, it's more often than not colored by a less-than-positive encounter. Might there be a different way to think about selling than trying to convince someone to buy your product or service?
Join me as I explore some of the thoughts circling my brain about how imposed and enforced learning might be coloring our experience with selling.
Arianna Huffington says that The Great Resignation is really a great Re-Evaluation. People are longing for a new definition of success and are longing for a different way of working and living.
Today I talk with Mental Performance Coach and former pastor Rick Holmberg about this concept, and what he's seeing with his leadership clients about their cultures.
Find more about Rick on LinkedIn.
Listen to this short snippet of my interview with Teresa. The entire episode is at https://circleupgetreal.libsyn.com/getting-real-with-teresa-coffey
Use whatever fuel it takes to move you to become REAL with yourself. In this interview with Teresa Coffey, we will learn how she took her life back after hearing that from a former boss and then eventually realizing she was married to a narcissist and how she's learning to integrate all parts of her life in being the best TERESA possible. You'll want to have a pencil ready - there are lots of great wisdom nuggets in this episode!
After spending nearly a year as an employee, I once again find myself at a spot where I'm determining whether I want to join another organization as an employee or to be completely on my own.
I had some thoughts about this today after an inspiring coffee conversation ... and this episode is what came from that.
I mention upcoming Think and Grow Rich mastermind studies, but there will be ongoing opportunities throughout 2022, so this is not limited to only this one.
True empowerment ... higher energy ... whatever is truly needed for you to perform or work at your best, is available to you. You only need to tap into it. Want to learn things like actually LIVING in prayer instead of doing prayer as an action? Or maybe how to increase productivity at a workplace by creating new habits that empower yourself by sharing your gifts with others? Listen in to this inspiring conversation with author, speaker, and CEO of Venture Management Consultants - and my friend - John Murphy as he reminds all of us that there's more to work than, well, work.
There is a lot more to enjoying your work than just doing something you like. There is a BEING behind the doing. Today listen in as John Murphy talks about the zone of BEING in vibrational harmony where you receive more of what you give. John Murphy is an author who works with business leaders to help them become more conscious and aware, which ultimately leads to more productivity.
How can this awareness lead to better employee retention? Listen in and find out!
Learn more about John at https://www.johnjmurphy.org/.
Today I combine the acronyms REAL and POWER and give an overview of each of these programs. When you tap into your own power, there is no need to continue down the path of forcing and making and hustling all the time.
Information comes from Bruce Schneider's Energy Leadership Index, and my book POWER Tools @ Work.
I also reference my course, REAL Me Intensive.
As humans we have been conditioned to have learning thrust upon us, not to be active participants. And this has caused us some angst, especially in the areas of love and money.
Today I talk about the concepts of worth, value, cost, price, payoffs and a lot of other ideas around abundance.
I refer to passages from A Course in Miracles and also A Course of Love.
If we're honest, we are all receiving messages from God/Universe every day. But are we awake to noticing?
Today I talk about getting the messages before they turn into lessons, problems, or crises. I mention Esther and Jerry Hicks' book Ask and It Is Given and the emotional guidance scale.
Once you notice that things are actually happening FOR you, you won't go back to believing they happen only TO you.
The drama and theater industry is huge ... because we humans need to escape the reality of our lives every now and then.
But if we think we can actually make a change to ourselves, it won't be by escaping - it will be by confronting our own challenges.
Drama in the workplace and in the family is not the same as drama at the theater.
Work to change out the projection so you can experience the best of yourself wherever you show up.
In the 1937 business classic Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill devotes an entire section of the Epilogue to the 57 Alibis by Old Man IF.
Which of these have you found yourself using? Do you really NEED alibis?
Listen in as I talk about what can shift if you unprogram yourself from those untrue beliefs.
What might your world and your life be like if you were brave enough to share your gifts and talents?
Today I talk about this concept and I share a song by Jana Stanfield that has completely changed the way I understand my place in the world.
The version I've linked here is the video version from YouTube sponsored by Awesome Women Hub which features photos of people who have done amazing things because they were brave.
Go ahead - share your gifts!
https://youtu.be/UF5V2PEujqs
Have you ever thought about the specific message you are here to deliver to the world? Not necessarily the channel through which you deliver it, which would be about what you DO, but more about who you are when you are doing it?
Today I share some information from Seth Godin's two newest books, "This is Marketing" and "The Practice." I also mention Brene Brown and her admonition to create a "shitty first draft" and get it into the world.
Perfection is not the goal. Connection is.
Today's conversation included information from the book "Soul at Work" by Margaret Benefiel as well as comments from live listeners that touched on oligarchy and bureaucracy and their impact on pursuing profit. Just easy conversation like that!
What will it take to bring soul and spirit into the place you work? It might just be up to you!
What does it mean to you to Mind your Mind? When you mind something, you tend to it. You pay attention to it. And if you don't do that, you might be forced to take your opinion of yourself from others.
In this episode I talk about what happens in your experience of living if the saboteurs in your mind are running the show instead of you understanding yourself the way you are at your best.
How do you identify yourself at your best? At your neutral point?
I refer to Vibe Masterminds (www.mygroundswell.com/vibe) and the book and course Positive Intelligence (www.positiveintelligence.com).
Today I talk about Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs and how important it is that we as humans have the opportunity to get to self-actualization.
I talk about the concept of capacity rather than potential as it relates to who we are as humans and how things might be different if each of us decided to start right now, today, living in capacity instead of waiting for someday to reach that elusive potential.
Today I am talking about Human Resources and their true effect on the culture of an organization. What does it really mean to be truly HUMAN in a corporate setting?
I reference Gary Hamel and Michele Zanini's book Humanocracy and also Marcus Buckingham and Ashley Goodall's book Nine Lies About Work in today's episode.
How might our corporations shift if we celebrate the heart and soul and spirit inside the corpus?
There is a definite theme to the past couple of episodes ... it's becoming clearer at this time and place that people are searching for their place in a more confusing and chaotic universe.
Finding your purpose or calling or destiny so you can be confident of the legacy you can leave is something more and more people are talking about.
In today's episode I talk about Richard Leider's Calling Cards (see more at www.richardleider.com/calling-cards/) and also Dick Richards' book Is Your Genius At Work.
The only thing that's completely certain about this life each of us is living is that none of us - ZERO - will get out alive. So ... what will you do while you're here?
Today I share some of my insights as I recognize the fragility of our time on earth.
If you've lost someone significant to you, you realize how precious legacy is.
What will yours be?
Declarations are statements of what you believe to be true, or what you desire to speak into existence. Whether you desire something to be a certain way or complain about it not being the way you want, your words are powerful. How are you using yours?
Today I talk about how Words Create Worlds. What kind of world are you living in by the way you use your language?
Reality unfolds perfectly. My interpretation of reality is from my own perspective, and that's where I might get it mixed up. Today I talk about whether things happen TO me or FOR me.
The references I used were the course I just completed: www.positiveintelligence.com, Byron Katie's book "A Mind At Home With Itself," and ho'oponopono, and where I first learned about it - Dr. Hew Len and Joe Vitale's book "Zero Limits."
According to Webster, a manifesto is a written statement declaring publicly the intentions, motives, or views of its issuer. This can be done by an organization or an individual.
The development of an individual manifesto is infinitely more powerful and, if I may say so, more fun, when the creator has a listening space to speak into.
Today I talk about the importance of having a trusted listening space and the power that can be created for the benefit of the world with that opportunity.
I share my own personal manifesto and will invite you to create your own.
Choosing to be open to possibilities doesn't mean you have no ability or willingness to discern, it just means you are open to allowing new information, new inspiration, and maybe even new points of view to be added to your awareness.
In this episode I share information from the book Becoming a Conscious Leader, specifically the concept of Theory U and how it can allow deep listening to impact leadership in a very positive and lasting way.
Find out more at https://becomingaconsciousleader.com/
What do you do when you know you've done something you wish you could take back? Or that you would do differently if you had it to do over? You clean it up.
Today I talk about that process. There's a fine line between owning your mistakes and beating yourself up in the process. Or owning your mistakes and discounting their effect on others.
The best you can do is the best you can do.
Finding purpose in an activity or your life is a process ... and who knows what is the "correct" process? You will know ... once you take the leap.
Today I talk about finding the purpose and also comparison. We humans seem to think there is someone out there somewhere who knows the "right" answers for us, and we spend way too much time looking in all the "wrong" places for that answer.
Comparison is the thief of joy. So let's stop comparing!
(Listen in for the extra special addition which makes this episode REALLY REAL!)
Unless you know your destination or your desired outcome, it's pretty difficult to chart your course or note your progress.
When you ask yourself "What's the problem?" you might find that you are looking at what's wrong much more than you are noticing either what's right or what's possible.
Instead, reframe what you are looking at and you will see solutions and possibilities instead.
Check out www.positiveintelligence.com for more information about identifying your judge voice and learning what you can do about that.
There is a voice in all our heads that is trying to keep us limited. This Judge voice can be drowned out by the wise Sage voice, but you need to notice it first.
Today I'm talking about a course I'm taking on Positive Intelligence (www.positiveintelligence.com) where I'm learning to hear the Truth instead of what I've been programmed to hear.
I mention Byron Katie's "The Work" (www.thework.com) and also Richard Rohr's book "The Naked Now."
Are you a heavy thinker? Many people don't think for themselves; they wait for someone else to set the groundwork first.
Others just forge ahead and do things without thinking.
Both prevent us from being present in the moment.
When you are able to identify the stories in your head and know they come either from the past or the future, you will see how reluctant you are to just BE in the present.
Today I talk about perspective and listening and being aware of the stories all of us have made up about what is so.
I also talk about Byron Katie's "The Work" (www.thework.com)
Today there are a lot of topics to discuss ... dialogue about ... and even debate. And we're going to talk about all of those, based on information from three sources: Adam Grant's book Think Again, Dr. Bruce Perry & Oprah's book What Happened to You, and Michael Singer's lecture series called Living From a Place of Surrender.
In this recording I welcome comments from the Facebook Live recording, and we have a rich exchange of information and inspiration for everything from returning to work after COVID to discovering why you just don't like some people.
There are many AHAs for everyone, me included, today. Enjoy!
What good is learning something without the willingness to put it into practice?
Today I talk about the "What - So What - Now What" model of learning and what it takes to get our knowledge from our heads to the world.
Michael Singer's work about Living From a Place of Surrender reminds us that being in the present means we get out of a mindset of either fear or desire.
He says that if we suppress or if we express our emotions, we miss the opportunity to actually experience them and, eventually transmute them.
How would that change our ability to be present?
When things feel easy, it's probably because you are in your gift zone. When you downplay your gifts because you think everyone can do what comes easily to you, you discount those characteristics that make you you.
And, when you don't own those gifts, it's pretty difficult for others to benefit from them. When you step into your greatness and embody your strengths, you invite others to do the same.
Today I talk about strengths and gifts and what will happen for all of us when we embrace the statement "It Is What It Is."
If you think about your life as a project, you would have a destination or an objective in mind. Yet so few people know what they truly desire at a sent end point.
Today I talk about setting your baseline, so that you can take stock of your life and determine where you truly desire to go.
Begin with the end in mind, starting at 5 years out and break it down to 1 year, 6 months, and 4 weeks, and you will see that it's really not as difficult as you might think ... you just need to start from where you are.
Your beliefs can seem oh so very real to you. But if you consider a belief is simply a thought you think over and over, there is a possibility that somewhere along the line you believed something that just isn't true anymore.
That Belief System (B.S.) often doesn't reflect who you are today.
What do you do when you realize that?
Today I talk about that pesky ego and what we might do when we realize our beliefs no longer serve us.
Are you your own worst enemy because you are trying to be perfect? Instead, consider being your own best cheerleader.
When you allow yourself grace, you see progress over perfection.
Be as supportive of yourself as you would be for others, reward your discipline, and watch your results take care of themselves.
If you considered yourself as a brand, what would your brand say? Who are you, really?
Today I talk about Tom Peters' book "The Brand You 50" and explore what your personal brand says about you at work and in all parts of your life.
Whether you are an employee or self-employed, how might you think about creating a brand that shouts distinction, commitment, and passion?
Michael Singer is a former CEO, a computer guy, and a yogi, and I am a devoted fan to his work which includes the books The Untethered Soul and The Surrender Experiment as well as several lectures I've been listening to on Audible.
Today I'm sharing some of the thoughts I've been learning about how to mind my mind, thanks to Michael Singer's teaching.
Find more about Michael at https://untetheredsoul.com/.
Manifestation is lining things up on purpose and then trusting and allowing in something greater to bring what you desire to you. If you're not aware of what's around you, you might miss what the universe has in store for you.
Today I talk about Situational Awareness along with Frequency Awareness and how those mindsets will allow a different, if not necessarily better, experience of living.
When you stay the course in an investment, whether that's financial or personal, you will probably have a better result overall than if you continually multitask (which is a lie anyway).
The Squirrel Effect keeps us from focusing on whatever is most important and, even though results seem to come more slowly, they are usually more lasting.
Today I mention the books The One Thing by Gary Keller & Jay Papasan, Fierce Conversations by Susan Scott, Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell, and The Bellwether Effect by Lance Secretan.
You've heard the story of the Hatfields and McCoys, two families who have been fighting for so many generations they've forgotten what the initial fight was about, right? Is there any element of that story that rings true at all for you?
When we fight, we are usually in a lower vibrational energy, and are more concerned about what we DON'T want than in standing for what we DO want.
Today I share some ancient wisdom about perspective which may shift your perspective about fighting.
What do you notice showing up in your physical space? If you're joyful and thinking about what's RIGHT, isn't that what you notice? When you feel stuck, do you notice that problems seem to compound?
When you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do if you really want to get out is to stop digging. If you keep doing what you've always done, you'll keep getting what you've always gotten.
Today I talk about some ideas for getting unstuck, which is a place we've all been, and will probably be again someday.
I am using SARK's Juicy Living card deck you can find at www.campsark.com.
What if there was a different way to look at the world than the one you have been conditioned to see? Not necessarily better ... just different?
Today I talk about the distinction between seeing through the eyes of fear and through the eyes of love.
I refer to A Course in Miracles, and also the Landmark Forum.
Anything worth doing is going to have some turbulence included. It's when things get tough that we develop the muscle needed to take us to the next level.
Today I share some ideas about getting through the tough times.
As Les Brown famously said, "When you're going through hell, don't stop!"
There are many stories in the classic book Think and Grow Rich that apply in this and many other contexts. If you haven't read it, now might be the time.
Kim Nagle is a business coach and trainer and author of the book The DAMN Plan: How to Find Freedom, Love, and Money In Your Business. In this conversation she tells us that the secret to business and life success is the truth. When you are willing to tell yourself the truth, that's when you will find freedom, love, and money.
You can find more about Kim at www.kimnagle.com or on social media. Search for The Damn Plan to find resources and inspiration for your business and your life.
Listening might be the most underrated and important skill a leader in any position can master because it directly affects relationships, which directly affects productivity.
This is true whether we're talking about a for-profit corporation, a not-for-profit venture or a family dynamic.
Listen in as I talk about the power a true listener creates to make the speakers much more powerful.
Today I mention my training with Landmark Education. See more at www.landmarkworldwide.com
There is a huge distinction between hearing something and really GETTING it, especially as it relates to each of us, not to others around us. It's one thing to know something in your head, but it's another thing to put it into the world.
Today I talk about Project Lead The Way (pltw.org) and also about the documentary The Creative Brain on Netflix.
Click here for more information about Vibe Masterminds.
What do you do when you believe you are doing your best and then you realize that you're off by only inches? Like you are SOOO close but if you keep going in the wrong direction, you will never get where you think you are headed?
That's what occurred to me as I revisited my Clifton Strengths. I'm a Maximizer, and that gave me so much insight.
Today I talk about my new venture with my business partner Chris Angell: Vibe Masterminds. Find more at www.mygroundswell.com/vibe.
And go to www.gallup.com to find out more about your own strengths!
If you don't learn the art of rethinking, you will be destined to remain in the mindset that got you stuck in the first place.
Today I talk about some of my ahas as I'm reading Adam Grant's new book "Think Again."
Adam tells us that it's important to argue like you're right, but listen like you're wrong. He introduces what happens when we slip into the mindsets of the preacher, the politician, and the prosecutor, and how we will be much more effective if we think like scientists.
The distinctions in our language may appear to be subtle on the surface, but when you dig in, you see how even a slight shift can make a huge difference.
Today I talk about how our outlooks and experience of living can be completely different if we shift from BEWARE energy to BE AWARE energy.
What happens when you get into a space of higher awareness with like-minded and like-hearted others? The best of each of you is invited into the conversation. In this episode I'm talking with Chris Angell and John Murphy about how higher awareness has the opportunity to support everything from work to health to relationships and everything in between.
Chris talks about our latest project the Vibe Mastermind (www.mygroundswell.com/vibe) and John talks about his process improvement work as well as his upcoming books. You can find out more at www.johnjmurphy.org.
Napoleon Hill discovered something really unique as he was studying successful people in the early 1900s: he discovered the Power of the Mastermind, which he defined as the entity that enters a conversation when people come together in a spirit of harmony for a definite purpose.
Today I talk about the spirit of harmony and whether or not we western business people can ever really know what that feels like as we pursue success.
What if we looked at success less as a pursuit and more of an allowing?
Chris Natzke is a 7th Degree Black Belt, keynote speaker, personal success coach, and author who helps people break through the limiting beliefs in their lives in a really concrete way. His new book Breaking Through was just released and hit the best seller lists on its first day. Today Chris helps us understand that finding the common thread when you are most fulfilled in your life is a clue to your own personal WHY. Listen in as he shares his personal journey including some of the challenges and victories he's experienced along the way which make his coaching and speaking REAL.
You can order Chris' book or learn more about his speaking and coaching at his website www.chrisnatzke.com.
What if we weren't so attached to our ways of thinking and could actually be open to the possibility that we've been wrong?
Today I talk about Adam Grant's new book Think Again and the concept he highlights that has us argue like we're right but listen like we're wrong.
How might our worlds shift if we connect rather than convince?
Impact has a couple of definitions: 1) one object coming forcibly into contact with another; and 2) have a strong effect on someone or something.
Today I talk about the second definition and pay tribute to my mom who died over the weekend.
Sometimes we don't see our impact in a positive way until we look behind us. What impact are you making? What wake are you leaving behind you?
Be on purpose.
There are two ways of doing anything: out of resistance or out of responsiveness. You might do all the "right" things but if your heart isn't in it, the results will show.
Today I talk about the book "The Anatomy of Peace" by the Arbinger Group and what we're learning in our Saturday mastermind study of this book.
Will the world change for the better if we treat people as people or as objects? Will it change for the better if we wait for permission or recognition for doing the right thing?
Lots to ponder today.
What happens if we truly believe in the Golden Rule (do unto others as you would have done unto you)? What if we don't think we deserve to be treated well? What if we believe more in the adage "An Eye For An Eye"?
Today I talk about some of these concepts, and I even read "The Star-Bellied Sneetches" by Dr. Seuss.
What does that have to do with the Golden Rule? Tune in and find out!
When you truly connect with someone else, time, space, distance, none of that matters. True heart connections are not dependent on any of those things. And sometimes it's the difficulties that show us the contrast that's right in front of our faces.
This conversation with online business mentor Tone Elisabeth Kaldestad is an example of the rich dialogue that can be created in a mastermind setting when the best of each is present in a spirit of harmony.
Find more about Tone at www.toneelisabeth.com.
At their core, most humans are in community when they find a place they belong. According to Peter Block, in the book Community: The Structure of Belonging, the word belong can mean a sense of being a part of something or a sense of ownership.
Today I talk about coming together and also the danger of existing only in our own echo chambers without making an attempt to relate to others.
How might we be able to get beyond fear and victim thinking to truly relate to one another?
It's so easy to get stuck in victim mode which tells us someone else has control over how we feel and what we can do with our lives.
It's not true. You always have choices in your life.
Today listen in as I talk about beliefs and challenging those that no longer work to give us the lives we truly desire to live.
Our nation experienced a domestic terrorist attack this past week on the Capitol in Washington DC. What is it that allows us to get to the point when things that like seem to happen "to" us?
Accountability seems to be lacking in our world. Join me for this conversation about naming the elephant in the room when we need to have fierce leadership dialogues.
There is a distinction between motivation and inspiration, and it might create better relationships if we really own that distinction.
Today I mention the book "The Thin Book of Naming Elephants" and also "QBQ."
Dave Goodall came to coaching via his career as an electrical engineer. Not the way most people do it, but Dave's not like most people. He understands that we attract what we most think about, so it's no surprise to him that he attracted horrible leaders throughout his career prior to coaching.
Listen in as he shares his experiences, including his influences and mentors like like Joe Dispenza, Gregg Braden, Bruce Lipton, and Dr. Matt James.
Hear about his personal growth journey and why he feels he's been gifted with dyslexia because it allows him to see things others can't see.

What you resist is there to teach you a lesson or to bring you some meaning for your life, but you have to be open to accept it. This is the difficulty, and the opportunity as we say good-bye to 2020.
When you know yourself well enough to understand your purpose, you find it easier to accept what you previously resisted, and the lessons come much more easily.
Today I talk about some of the awarenesses I've realized in 2020.
I also talk about Dick Richards and his book "Is Your Genius At Work?"
Facebook always asks that question when you go to post ... and it's a good one. Do you feel you have to have answers before you can even ask the question? Do you have a place to work through your questions so you can look for solutions instead of answers?
And what happens when you have new awarenesses without a place or a circle or a tribe to work those new awarenesses out?
If you are feeling restless and discontented, you might be looking for the Get REAL Circle.
Listen in as I ponder - with the help of our Facebook Live commenters - some of these questions.
This is one of the most fun interviews I did on my previous podcast Bock Talks with a fascinating young man, Carl Wallin. (It was from May, not March as I say in the intro ... but 2020 was pretty mushed together, so who knows the difference?). While he is only 27 years old, Carl shares his journey from being a small kid with Napoleon complex to a determined skateboarder and video game champion to his struggle with depression and anxiety which led to his amazing determination to become an award-winning bodybuilder and a champion of positivity.
Just one of the many nuggets from Carl:
"Don't set your standards too low. Open others' eyes and show them the immense value of raising your standards."
"They" always say that hindsight is 20/20, and at the beginning of this year I thought it would be great to treat 2020 with a bit of foresight instead.
"What do you want to create?" I asked myself as I looked ahead to this year. My word for 2020 was FOCUS because I figured it would be great to be in charge of the outcome.
Ha. We all know how that worked. So in this episode I truly look back on 2020 with hindsight, and get reflective about what each of us can choose to leave behind, and what we will choose to take forward into this brand new year.
Join Jodee as she explores what it means to Play to the Edges in your life, what it means to be, do or have "enough," and also touches on the distinction between security and freedom.
Jodee mentions the book "Why Enough is Never Enough" by Gregory S. Jeffrey.
All other things being equal, people will do business with, and refer business to, people they know, like, and trust. This is just some of the wisdom from author and networking master Bob Burg. In this conversation, I chat with Bob about his career in radio and TV, sales, and eventually to his becoming a speaker and author specializing in authentic relationship building.
Bob is the co-author of The Go-Giver, Go-Giver Leader, Go-Givers Sell More, and Go-Giver Influencer, as well as the author of Endless Referrals and Adversaries into Allies. Together his books have sold more than a million copies, and have appeared on multiple best seller lists.
Bob is a sought-after speaker, who is shifting his business to the virtual world.

Today I share my insights about Learning, the L of the REAL acronym. What kinds of lessons has your life been trying to share with you? Are you noticing? Sometimes I'm not ... and then I get a chance to be awakened.
I share information about Lisa Ling's documentary called This is Life on CNN. Here is a more information about the episode I reference:
https://www.cnn.com/2020/11/29/us/this-is-life-with-lisa-ling-prison-prep-school-audio/index.html
Today's episode has Jodee asking some questions to help us all get more Authentic ... which is the A of the REAL acronym. When you peel back the layers of the onion which your true self, it can be painful.
However the pain of becoming authentic, is worth it when you can connect with others, and even more so when you are challenged to become your best self when those others trust you enough to tell the truth.
If words create worlds, what kind of world are your words creating?
There are so many challenges in the world right now for adults ... now think about how little kids handle those challenges. We have so many opportunities to notice both what we do desire and also what we don't. If we're not aware of the opportunities, we will only be upset about what we don't want.
Today I talk about the need for contrast in order to build our appreciation muscles. With the shadows, you would never notice things like moguls on mountains, and you wouldn't have an opportunity to master a hobby like skiing.
Don't get stuck in the shadows. Look at them and bring light to the parts of your life you don't prefer. Then you'll be living to the edges in all aspects of your life.
It's not always easy, but it's necessary to get beyond our own biases to be as objective as we can, especially if intentions are to connect and not divide.
In this episode I talk about my own process to get from judgment to observation: of others and even of myself.
Debra Poneman has been teaching the Law of Attraction and success principles in her Yes to Success Seminars since 1980, and is celebrating her 50th year of learning about Transcendental Meditation. A true student of her craft, Debra shares stories of her students who have gone on to become mega-successful leaders, authors, even household names. But through our conversation you will hear Debra share a new awareness around the concept of virtue signaling as it was occurring to her.
Debra is committed to helping others create lives of not only success and abundance, but deep and profound happiness, self-love, and inner fulfillment.
You can find more about Debra at www.yestosuccess.com.
Focusing on what we don't want gives us more of that, which should be no surprise. So what are we looking for as we make it through our days in the world of COVID and politics and protesting, etc.?
Do we see America as the land of dreams or have we forgotten what we have right in front of us?
Here are some of my thoughts and ideas from an interview I listened to on Valuetainment (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBVMHtVLNcI).
Journalists are getting a bad rap these days, but they are doing the best they can to keep their own spirits up, even when many people are trying to cut them down. In this interview, Tracy Briggs and I talk about reframing our attitudes and how we really can find the silver lining even if it looks cloudy outside. Hear about Tracy's dream to bring the Honor Flight to life.
You can find more about Tracy at tracy.briggs@forumcomm.com or on social media.
I am my own worst critic. So why do I keep listening to that voice in my head that tells me I can't?
Why is it that others seem far more apt to tell us what's wrong than what's right?
We have the ability to shift it ... are we willing?
We all know voting is a right we have as American citizens. But sometimes it's easy to overlook it. To believe your voice doesn't really matter. That it's more of a chore or a duty than an opportunity.
Mike McCuaig and his wife Sylvia Vogt had a very different experience in the Homewood neighborhood of Aleghany County Pennsylvania.
What would happen if our everyday events like voting elicited the joy Mike & Sylvia experienced?
This is an excerpt from a longer conversation with Mike and Sylvia that will air later this week.
Sarah Olson is a Momma on a Mission. When Sarah's son Levi was born with spina bifida, she learned quickly that the challenges he faced were ones many people just had to endure. But with her sheer determination, faith, and a focus on the goodness of humanity, Sarah not only invented a medical device to help her son, but also single-handedly raised several million dollars to launch her company, Levity Products, and got a provisional patent for the LECS device in order to help others.
In this interview you will learn about Levi's journey, but also about Sarah's commitment to bringing people together to solve wounded hearts and soul problems. Sarah believes that anything is possible with love at the forefront.
You can learn more about Sarah's medical device at her website www.levityproducts.com and you can find her on social media at Sarah Lynn Olson.
That’s not a question I asked myself for most of my career. In fact I prided myself on just putting my head down and doing my job. I just didn’t understand why others were so upset by things or even sometimes why they were happy about other things.
In hindsight now I can see how being in touch with how I wanted to FEEL about things could have allowed me to make much better decisions much earlier.
Today I talk about Danielle LaPorte’s book “The Desire Map” which I learned about in 2013.
How might 2021 occur for you if you set yourself up for the last quarter of 2020 to figure out how you want to FEEL?
COVID burnout is a real thing. It makes us crazy. But it doesn't have to make us mean. In this conversation with Robin Nelson, CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Red River Valley and also the governance chair for the legislative committee for the Fargo School Board, she's gotten to see politics and leadership from a whole new perspective. What happens when people get frustrated and take those frustrations out on others? And how is it that we've found ourselves so divided on so many issues? What role does the media play?
Listen in as we take on these topics and more.
You can connect with Robin via email at Robin@bgcrrv.org.
When you look back, whether that's on your whole life or just on the past few months of COVID, what does that perspective tell you? Why did the things that compelled you do that?
If you try to figure out the reason, you will get into your head; if you accept that there is a purpose, it's bigger than anything you can logically figure out.

What happens when you get into a real conversation with a like-minded and like-hearted other? You both leave better because of it. In this conversation with author and Conscious Leadership Consultant Gina Hayden, you will have a chance to witness that phenomenon. Here we talk about connection, conversation, success, significance, and holding space for the creativity that true connection invites.
Gina is the author of "Becoming a Conscious Leader" and the co-founder of The Global Centre for Conscious Leadership. She lives in London.

Why is it that many people are afraid to be real? When they realize that being fake only attracts more fake, why would they continue to worry about what others think?
These are the thoughts I share in today's Monday Facebook Live conversation.
If we've learned nothing else from the past 6 months in lockdown and shutdown and slowdown and isolation, might we have begun to understand who we really are with all the other "stuff" out of the way?
Check out my new course www.getrealcircle.com where you can learn even more about what it means to get REAL.

It seems these days people are willing to do anything to find a place where they belong, including destructive things like lying and stealing and looting.
I think it’s because we’ve become so disconnected from what we truly desire and what we know deep down is “right” and “true.”
As long as we keep looking outside ourselves for answers, we will be continuing to ask he wrong questions.
Peter Block wrote an amazing book called Community: The Structure of Belonging and in it he defines the word “belong” in a couple of different ways. He says the first definition is to be related to and part of something. The opposite of that definition, then, is to feel isolated and like an outsider.
The second definition he uses has to do with ownership. Something “belongs” to me. And what I consider mine I will build and nurture.
Listen in as I talk about the concept of belonging as it applies to me, and also to the world we find ourselves today.
Have you ever considered operationalizing love for the place you work? If not, you will LOVE this conversation I have with author and speaker and leadership expert Steve Farber. These times we are living in right now call for extreme leadership, which Steve says is the act of leading even without a title or position.
Steve's Extreme Leadership Institute works to bring the Radical LEAP into the world: Love, Energy, Audacity, and Proof.
Listen as Steve gives us great ideas for changing the world for the better, no matter who we are.

How effective is our conversation in the world these days? Do you know your own personal mission statement … your mission … your destiny?
Mine is connecting people and creating conscious communities.
This is why I’m dedicated to helping people connect. Not to say people have to think exactly the same, but they come together to support each other in having conversations that matter with people who matter.
Listen in today as talk about what can happen if we only communicate with people who already believe what we believe.
That’s what it means to be in an echo chamber: to only hear things that support your current point of view.

You can reach Lorianne at her website www.lvsconsultingservices.com or emailing her at lorianne@lvsconsultingservices.com.
Today I share some of my experiences working with SolutionPeople in Chicago where I met great friends and learned some amazing information, including the distinction between creativity (having good ideas) and innovation (doing something with them).
I also refer to my passion about creating DIALOGUE, which I define as “suspending previous assumptions in order to learn from each other.” To me, that’s the epitome of creation because if we truly come from that space, each encounter is unique – it’s never happened in that way before.
That’s one of the biggest distinctions for me between dialogue and debate, where the presentation is prepared in advance and delivered. While information is exchanged at best, often it’s one-way and doesn’t involve too much creativity because that’s not its goal.
Listen in as I talk with commenters about this concept and its importance now as we prepare for the 2020 presidential election.

What can an ex-neurotic former chiropractor teach us about being present and overcoming inner turmoil? Turns out a lot.
Dr. Steve Taubman lives in Burlington, VT and in this episode he shares his journey which led him to become a chiropractor, and then a hypnotherapist, magician, and eventually an author and speaker specializing in the root of all suffering: the subconscious.
He has made appearances with Alec Baldwin, Alan Alda, Steve Martin, Jack Canfield and even the Dalai Lama.

This is a weird and wacky time in history to be sure, but with the wackiness has come some clarity and new awarenesses for many.
Clarity and awareness doesn't necessarily mean everything is rosy all the time. Getting REAL means showing authenticity even when it's not all polished and pretty.
The masks we are forced to wear in public don't have to be a metaphor for what we are learning about ourselves.
Today I talk about my new FREE course you can find at www.getrealcircle.com.
This was one of my favorite interviews on my previous podcast called Bock Talks. If human crisis exposes social excellence without leadership, could it be possible that leadership could create social excellence without crisis?
Robert Quinn is a professor and author and an expert on leadership, which, when I interviewed him for this episode at the end of March, was still to be determined as COVID was just starting in our country. This was before the George Floyd event and everything that ensued following that, and foreshadowed a very interesting observation about leadership, whether or not someone has a title.
Who will emerge as the next leaders as a result of the COVID experience? And who will be the first followers? And how will this affect the world as we know it?
Cost. Payoff. Worth. Value. Price. All these terms can get mumbled and jumbled together when we're talking about buying stuff.
But what about when it comes to your life? What costs are you tolerating to get the payoff? How do you measure your own value?
Join me for this dialogue which includes several Facebook Live listeners as we get REAL about this touchy subject.

What if the real goal for all of us as humans was to wake up and experience the joy of living to the fullest before our time on earth is up?
In this conversation with hypnotherapist and founder of Inner Spark Coaching, Saree Janz Reveling and I talk about what it was that finally woke her up to the realization that work - and life - doesn't have to be hard.
How would your experience of living shift if that became true for you? Hint: it is.
Listen in and see how Saree might just be able to help you on your own journey.
There have certainly been times in my past where I’m more interested in having outcomes just happen than I might be committed to doing the work necessary to experience those outcomes.
I admit it here: I have FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out). I want to share in your passion for your cause or your interest … but I might not be really committed.
What does that mean for the results I want in my life?
The distinctions are subtle but huge.
Listen in as I tell you about my new course: REAL Me – coming soon!
Have you ever felt like there is something holding you back but you can't quite put your finger on what it is?
