Someone who has a moral compass. Or someone who has strong ethics. You hear these terma all the time. What do you hear.
The concept of God being just. People argue about grace and love. And what that means. The two are a neccity and when they are seperated you can't get either
What part of the story what part of the trial are you in. The beginning middle or the end. And who do you trust to see you through. And as life gets more complicated. Are you looking for ways to separate yourself from others. By way of faith, politics. Or are you looking for excuses to connect with one another. To have empathy. To understand each other. That's going to be a big part of how this story ends.
Understanding hate. Multiple mass shootings in the news again. Stories of violence and hate and you can't seem to get away from them. What do you hate and why do you hate it.
The 10 Commandments. Thou shall not kill. Is there an exemption for defending family and country.
You've heard of books titled the power of positive thinking. How ever there is something to be said about the power of negative thinking.
The concept of working just hard and not being noticed. It becomes a burden. In the cases of doing what is right. When you feel like no one notices. You have to trust that God does.
In the new testament two words are used for anger. One is a type of passion and the other describes agitation.
If you find yourself refusing to speak up when things around you are wrong. Or if you refuse to take honest criticism when it comes your way. You end up whether you like it or not being a participant in the destruction around you.
This is the time when the church and those who believe come together. As Christmas has become something many people enjoy the secular aspects of it. But we all know what it's really about.
To give to someone else is at the heart of human kindness. When it's done in the right spirit. It is an absolute reflection of the spirit of God. The ultimate giver.
Around this time of year you see people putting lights on everything. Light become the focus and the theme for the holidays. In scripture you are called to be the light unto the world.
When it comes to food leftoverss are a good thing. However that tends to be the meal that God gets.
Sometimes during trying times. Life continues to do what it does on earth. Regardless of holidays. It can be very difficult to find things to be thankful for.
The concept of working just as hard or doing something that is noble or good and not being noticed. And sometimes it becomes a burden. But in the cases of doing what is right When you feel like no one notices what you are doing. You have to trust that God does.
If you set out on your day. And your first thought is always about the negative. If that seems to be your pattern or of the people around you. I want you to think about it.
If you turn on the news or talk radio or whatever it might be. Anything that is a source of information. It seems all you hear is people blaming one another. Going back and forth pointing fingers saying it's their fault. It's what they've done that has caused problems.
There is much that can distract you. There is always something in your view. But nothing should take your eyes from me.
Romans 8:35
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ
When You attack someone with the hopes of tearing them down. More times than not you end up tarnishing their reputation but yours as well. It seems unfortunately mudslinging is an expected part of the political landscape. This kind of behavior as always unbecoming.
The creator exists and he wants you to know him. Love him and communicate with him. Connect through prayer through meditation. And have a connection with God. Right now the world has your attention. And it can't help but weigh on your shoulders.
The word of God is something living and breathing. But is it something that you are to twist or contort to your particular view. To prove yourself right.
Life has it's share of ups and downs. You can't nerf or bubble wrap the world. It has sharp edges and you will feel them. If you get to the place where you think it's always the devil under every stone. You miss the fact when there really is spiritual warfare going on in your life.
Love is one of those things people throw around everywhere. Love is a powerful force when done in the attitude in which God has displayed through scripture. It is the glue that holds everything together. But the focus of God and the things that matter to God about love may not be what you think they are.
It's not what you have in life. It's how you obtained it that matters to God. And that seems to be less and less important.
In life there are fewer victims than volunteers. And it matters who you let into your life. Because it can be detrimental to the plan God has for you.
As you are home. Projects are adding up. You start being introspective. Looking at yourself and the world. There are a lot of problems in life.
Psalm 16:11
It's very easy to look at your circumstances and get caught up in it. When you're in a world of turmoil, When you look deep into life. You will see that life is not only imperfect, but it's hard to find joy when there are intence trials put on you.
Empathy is at the root of Christanity. The very act of the death on the cross was empathy. Standing in for someone else. Taking the pain of someone else. The burdon of someone else. Is the very act on the cross.
There are so many words in scripture that are heard over and over during your walk of faith and your growth. That they become background noise.
So today is Fathers Day. How appropriate to talk about my foster father Joseph. Now you probably think of him as a carpenter. But have you ever thought of him as a action hero? When you hear acton hero you think of The Avengers. But I want you to think about the word that comes before hero. The word action.
Empathy is at the root of Christanity. The very act of the death on the cross was empathy. Standing in for someone else. Taking the pain of someone else. The burdon of someone else. Is the very act on the cross.
When The world seems chaotic and upside down people of faith should be an example of streagth and peace. And don't let circumstances change you.
Scripture has many verses about overcoming adversity. And focusing on God during times of trials.
Romans 8:28
The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing, But the soul of the diligent is made fat.
Halloween. A pagan ritual day to some, a day of candy to others. Like many thigs that surrounds your life in this world and your faith. When it comes to Halloween there is some controversy. But is it necessary.
Faith. The word appears in the new testement 307 times. It's one of the first things stated by a person who claims to be a christian. They talk about their faith. But what is that faith. What is that part of your christianity. Your belief system that separates you that's different from others. Your faith is not what some have called blind.
When you look at something counterfit. The purpose of it is to appear to be something genuine. What comes to mind first is money. Here you have something of value, thats been authorized and has a seal of approval on it. But when you have a counterfit. You have something that is so close to the original. That it is difficult to tell. But in every case there is something that is large enough that will stand out for you to tell the difference between that which is real and that which is counterfit.
James 4:14 says that you don't know what will happen to you tomorrow. For what is life, It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. Putting that off what you should do today only delays the inevitable. You are someone that's wants to succeed, progress, help, inspire, all these things in life. If you don't pratice that daily. If you don't find ways daily to participate in life. To help someone. To care for someone. To share insight. There's no guarantee you'll be able to tomorrow.
Change is going to happen in life. It will come in many froms and ways. And enter your life through front doors, back doors, and windows. And you can choose to be on the side of fear. Running from any sort of change in your life. Or you can embrace it and seek the things that God has for you in those changes.
It's a common assertion that religion is at the heart of most wars. Can this really be true. Is religion the cause of much of the worlds violence and destruction. It seems that way on the surface. Wars have that element in it and that can not be denied. But I assure you that is not the case. Regardless of that simplistic apperrance.
So it's Labor Day weekend. And There's a lot of things going on. The end of the summer, seasons are changing. With Labor Day it takes time to look at those that work and the concept of working. Is taking time to rest as well.
So as the season of summer rolls to a close. It's interesting how you can hear people talking about the diferent parts of the season. The heat or the weather. And there seems to be this pattern of people getting tired of the weather. They can't wait for fall. But you should remember that every season is important and has a purpose. And this apply to the seasons to your life as well.

So where are you? There's arguments that go back and fourth about who you are to be. Today I want you to think about where your roots are. It's been said you can't have roots and wings. That you need to choose to understand who you are. Do you want the freedom of flight or the stability of roots. Well even birds have to land. Find a place of resting. Even birds know from where the come.
The concept of working hard or doing something that is noble and not being noticed. And sometimes as you do it, it becomes a weight. Just like the back up singer, blury in the background. but that's not true.
If you go out to a toy store. You walk down the isles. You're going to see a number of toys. All kinds of different toys that provoke interest and ideas of children. But there will be a few isles that will be familiar to your life. Just smaller and made out of plastic. You'll see little ovens, lawnmowers, little tool chests. And do you know why? Because the way children begin their lives is immitation.
A Study says that it found the wealthy motivated by greed are more likely to be unethical including liying and cheating. Those findings led to a series of experiments. More information revealed because of the abundance of financial resources. Rich people live in a more insular world. With less need for social bonds for survival. When you think you can buy what you need. You don't focus on the skills that it takes to obtain that in everyday life.
When you hear the term ambassador. What do you think of? Probably politics and government. But did you know thar if you're a believer. That you are called to be an ambassador of mine.
It's not what you have in life. But how you obtained it that matters to GOD. Sadly it seems that more and more parents want their kids to have anything and everything. Even at the expence of others and the emotional expence of their very own children. And when that becomes the focus. When it's just about giving something to your child. Obtaining that something rather than the proper process of obtaining it.There's going to be a problem.
I bet you've herd the phrase There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch. There is nothing in life that is truly free. Everything worth while comes at a price. You may not always be the one paying. But I assure you someone is always making the payment.
It's officially summer. And you like many millions of others. Maybe scrambling around to become physically fit. Whether it's diet or working out. Looking and feeling good physically is certainly important to God. But it's not the only thing God want's to be healthy in your life.

June is a busy month. It's filled with great celebrations of scholastic graduations and achievements. Moving on and moving up is imperative to growth. Life is a progression life is a process. Graduations are a public acknowledgement that you're moving from the past to the future.
With Memorial Day summer is just around the corner. Many of you are planning on taking time off. Some time away from work and that's a good thing. Knowing when you need that rest and taking it is part of being good and healthy.
Do you hear people talking about you sometimes? Or if they describe you what would they say? Do you think they would say you're reliable? Have you ever heard that's just the way they are? They've given in to the fact that you're unreliable, inconncistant, and your wore dosen't always mean anything.
Even though not everyone had an ideal mother or father. On Mothers Day we look at celebrating the traits of godly motherhood.
Blaming on people the things that go on in life never solves anything. Accountability, unity, integrity. Those are the building blocks of real solutions rael change in your life and beyond. Unfortunely if you turn on the news or talk radio whatever it might be. Anything that is a source of information. All you hear is people blaming one another. Gonig back and forth pointing fingers and saying it's their fault it's what they've done that has caused problems. Everyone is blaming one another and no one will have self accountability. Looking around and saying what part do I play in this whole thing is not the norm.
When things get tough in your life you might find yourself swollwed up by these problems. And you may not have the first clue on how to solve them. There's always going to be a list of things that need to be fixed or tended to. The thing about problems is they never have an ending. Not in the way you might hope or think.
The eggs the choclatte and all these things are fun and should be. And you should be able to enjoy them. But maybe you would like to know and think about the true meaning of Easter.
Palm Sunday is the mark of the entrance into Jerusalem. And everyone was excited at the arrival. So where was the false expectations. It started with deep faith and conviction. The attituds of those that were there and witness this. Were such that the animal rode in on. They didn't want the bottom of its hoofs to touch the ground. They laied the palm fronds down. That's where you get Palm Sunday. It's often called the triumphal entry. But this changes one week later.
Some things in life change and some things don't seem to ever change. No matter how long it's been. Certain thing seem to stay the same. 2000 years ago the term tax collector was a pajortive of sorts. Almost a dirty word synomous with sinner. And if asked around today what people thought about the tax collector they would think the same. As tax day approaches. I'm sure you're not pleased or thinking happy thoughts handing your hard earned money to the government. But how do you think God feels about taxes.
There is much that can distract you in life. Always something in your view. But nothing should ever take your eyes from me. Paul in Romans 8:35 wrote "Who shall seperate us from the love of Christ". The way he says it and puts it to paper is that nothing can. That is the answer.
Maybe you watch TV or movies and the key characters are walking down the street. Maybe it's New York, California, wherever it might be. As they walk you loose track of the background and focus on the individual. But they just had to build the façade to get the point across.
With character and integrity people sometimes think if you just have the outside appearance then you are fine. It's not the case biblically.

Does that mean the enemy is after you? No. If you get to the place where you think the devil is under every stone. You miss the fact that when there really is spiritual warfare going on and it really is the enemy.
Communication is at the center of the human experience, unfortunately, some people are using it wrong.
