The Mid-West Asian American Student Union spring conference podcast hosted by the Advocacy Committee that consists of Amy Ma, Meredith Song, and Yoko Vue.
In this episode, Meredith Song and Amy Ma discuss mental health, healing, self-care, and identity with Nicole Prak. We draw connections between our experiences as Asian Americans and our mental health journeys, and offer insights on how to approach difficult conversations surrounding mental illness. We round out the dialogue with coping strategies and ways that we exercise care amidst turmoil in our community, society, and the world.
Our third episode of the MAASU 2020 Unwritten Podcast brings on Asheanna Lee and Houa Moua to talk about the Hmong identity with host Yoko Vue. This episode talks about a variety of issues in the Hmong community and focuses on two questions: "What’s an issue that you’re passionate about in the Hmong community?" and "What’s something you would want people to talk about more?"
Episode two tackles the big questions of what it means to be Asian American, where that identity came from, and how we define our communities the context of that somewhat arbitrary category. Tune in with the host, Meredith Song, in conversation with guests, Tala Alfoqaha and Daniel Jefferson, as they share perspectives on these questions and address the complexities of Asian American identity.
