In 2012 I began to use contexts of Astrophysics in my music. During that time I wrote "Alpha Centauri" for Orchestra, based on radiofrequency Spectrums of the Nasa and the Esa (for example: http://www.esa.int/Our_Activities/Space_Science/Cassini-Huygens/Sounds_of_an_alien_world). When you have Radio Frequency Spectrums, you can synthesize them, by the use of modern Programming-Software like Open Music and CSound. I transfered in "Alpha Centauri", some Spectrums of the Cassiny Huygens Mission directly to Music Notation. In "Orbit" I did the Opposit: I made a synthesis of Sounds of the Planets (Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Venus, Pluto, Saturn, ...) which are basically Radiofrequency Spectrums. Than I could filter out from the Frequencies in Relationship with time, some "chords". The "chords" are normally in another register (very high or too low) and transposed them to the register of regular Music Instruments. Than I did "Music" with it, with CSound. Belower you can hear a version of the piece with just Electronics. In that Version, I added a percussion player. I analysed the Spectrum with Audiosculpt of the Percussion Voice and tried to find similar "Sounds" in the Percussion. This version was premiered in Zepernick, by Berlin in September of 2014.
Caspar de Gelmini, October, Pantin 2014
Written for Ensemble Recherche, premiered at Stuttgart Music Conservatoire in Summer 2014. "Paysage Urbain" was inspired by the Sounds of the big Cities. I was useing Fieldrecordings and analysed them and their harmonic Structure. The Fieldrecordings were done at Airports, Railway - Stations, Malls, the Metro, etc. I analysed the harmonic Structures and used Models and Objects that I found in Master - Pieces of Spectral Music, like Murail, Grisey, Haas, etc. I used so called "additive Musical Grammar" in Open Music, a technic that is related to the technics of Philippe Manoury. The mood is inspired by some great Works by Murail, "Winter Fragments" and "Le Lac"... It was the first time I wrote a piece completely with the IRCAM Software Open Music. There are some scratchy "noisy" Sounds, that belong to another World, Bedrossian, Cendo or even Lachenmann. The Ensemble is the brilliant German Ensemble "Recherche".
Caspar de Gelmini. Paris, September 2014
A new piece for Percussion and Electronic, also possible as tape - piece. The piece was done in the electronic Studio of the Musikhochschule Stuttgart. I was basically useing Csound and ProTools for the realisation. An additional percussion Part was added for the Festival "Randfestspiel" in Zepernick by Berlin for a performance in September 2014. The piece is basically about the principals of Chomsky for the organisation of spectral Material in the Electronics (Jean Claude Risset Scales, Harmonic Spectrums, Inharmonic Spectrums and the Varése Scales). The percussion Part is useing a Set Up, that is inspired by Raphael Cendo's piece "Badlands". The percussion behaves to the Electronics like a Moon, moving around the earth on a special orbit. It's not about synchronisation, it is more about unsynchronized concurrency.

Caspar de Gelmini, August 2014
Windensemble and Percussion,
Orchestra of the Theatre of Halberstadt, November 2013
In this piece you hear the orchestration of ships of the harbour of Hamburg, especially the Queen Mary 2. The idea was to orchestrate a YouTube Clip that you can find hear: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XfnZRm4SGzg
The idea was basically the following: How could a music create basically from a YouTube Clip and the Analysis of the Pitch-Structure, with Audiosculpt, Spear and Open Music. In my Opinion you can hear the idea very clear, especially in the Ending of the piece. In a way it is comparable to Peter Ablingers Piece "Deus cantando" for speaking Piano. So in this way, the music is not a Music with "Melodies" and "Harmonies" and traditional rythmical Stucture, but more a orchestrated Soundscape, like a orchestrated Raymond Murray Schafer Idea. The general musical Structure is a Soundscape, not a traditional, music Idea.
There are also some "theatralic ideas" based on the persons, which conduct the ship to the harbour. The title is based on idea that modern Cruising Ships are Gambling Halls for rich people, but they don't have the traditional meaning of big ships, transporting people for example over the Atlantic, like the old Atlantic-Liners from Bremen, Le Havre or Southhampton. So it's in a way a kind of maritim Soundscape Composition based on Youtube.

YS
Ys was a piece that reflects some moments of French Music, starting with Debussy, Messiaen, Grisey, Xenakis, Murail and also younger Composers like Raphael Cendo or Pierre Jodlowski. The motto of the piece is connected to the Debussy Prelude of the sunken Cathedral. It was following not only a spectral Approach from the harmonic Side, but also a "essayistic" Approach. The absoulute Scary thing happens after the performance of the piece: In the near of Douarnenez lies a Ship, a belgium Freighter on the ocean ground. It carried Food and Tabbak to Africa in the 1950's. The sister ship was the "Georg Büchner", that was in the Rostock Harbour for years. In the night before my first intrance examination I slept on that ship in a Youth Hostel in the Rostock Harbour. When I was in Paris the old ship was carried to Poland for scrapping. At the same time, Intercontemporain was playing my piece about sunken Cathedrals the ship sank in the baltic Sea in the harbour of Gdansk. The piece was written exactly 100 years after the prelude of Debussy and currently the sister ship sleeps in the Polish Sea. And the next funny thing: The belgium Ship was once a inspiration for the Comic Book Author Hergé for Tintin. He also slept on the same ship and draw it for "Tintin in the Congo".
