Here's the scene: You're at a local big-box retail store and pass by that card section again. You see Pokemon cards, maybe even Yu-Gi-Oh cards, and the ever dwindling baseball card section. You fondly remember opening the booster packs in the past, looking through the cards, seeing stats of players or finding that foil card that looks oh so sweet, and the nostalgia of those times floods back inot your mind, bathing you in dopamine and memories of that pure joy. And then you see them. Magic the Gathering cards. You've heard about them, a couple of your friends get together on the weekends to play and have been trying to get you to play for years. It's the perfect time for it. You stop and consider what to get, overwhelmed by all the decisions in front of you. You grab a random pack, purchase it with the rest of your groceries, and when you get home and get everything put up you grab that booster pack from the latest set, ready yourself, and open the pack to that euphoric carboard smell. Fast forward a year. Your collection has grown after spending half of your salary on a collection that would make you competitive at your local tournament scene, and you are almost done getting a full set of the most recent expansion of the game. You know that you have reached the pinnacle of new player knowledge and need to take the next step, and you get that feeling down in the pit of your stomach, you want to make Magic more than just a game. And that has led you to this show. Kroeker and Rooney are on that journey too. One is a new player, and one is a veteran player and the insights they seek out and share with listeners will be for players of any skill level. From strategies to improve your game, to exploring what the Magic tournament has evolved into, and even strategies for collecting in the most efficient way possible, Chasing Mythic is here to help you on your quest, and make Magic the Gathering more than just a game.

Rooney and Kroeker are here to share their first takes on Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty as the set is fully released, and Rooney starts to take the journey into figuring out how to adjust to a new and ever changing meta, while Kroeker explores some of the current events going on with Magic the Gathering.
With many new things to come in the future, the guys look at what Chasing Mythic means to them, and try to figure out how to make Magic more than just a game.

Chasing Mythic is back for 2021!
In the return of Chasing Mythic Josh and Bri talk about their house rule variant for Phase 10, a classic tabletop card game. After that they dive into the chess board to examine the similarities between Magic the Gathering and chess, and finally they finish the episode with a discussion about Historic Goblins in best-of-one Historic on Magic Arena.
In this episode we look at how Josh and Bri are tweaking their Card Wars decks and compare the play styles and cost of Card Wars to Magic the Gathering, while Bri speculates on why Josh seems to ALWAYS have more cards to sort.
After that Josh goes over his time in Arena this week playing Limited Amonkhet Remastered and Mono-Red Goblins in Historic Ranked.
