In this episode we speak to our very first guest - Charlotte Jacobs who is currently producing an important documentary on the awareness of Endometriosis - 'Yellow Ribbons'

Yellow Ribbons is a documentary that aims to raise awareness about Endometriosis and related menstrual conditions, through the journeys and experiences of the women who suffer with them.
Endometriosis is an often debilitating condition that affects estimated 1 in 10 women worldwide. It is a condition where cells similar to those found in the lining of the womb are found to exist elsewhere is the body, and these cells can cause inflammation and bleeding wherever they are. Symptoms can include pain, excessive bleeding, nausea, bowel and bladder issues to name a few.
It takes on average 8 years to diagnose Endometriosis, often due to the dismissal of symptoms where women have to repeatedly report them before being investigated and may be misdiagnosed.
There is no cure for Endometriosis and treatments are often debilitating and unsuccessful. And it's effect on the sufferer's lives is just as invasive affecting careers, social lives and mental health.
There needs to be more awareness about this condition, and Yellow Ribbons aims to start discussion generally because it is a difficult condition to talk about and there is still a stigma around menstrual health matters. The women in the piece all bravely tell of their own personal experiences of Endometriosis, but also related conditions such as Adenmyosis, PCOS and Fibroids.
It is their stories, in their own words.
