In the first half of today’s show, we discuss the many Black conservatives that help shape the identity of the right, far right, and MAGA movements in this country. We explain how their input provides cover for White supremacist values and ideals, as well as provide a degree of deniability for folks who are hard-pressed to challenge their own biases and racist beliefs. We also discuss what incentivizes Black conservatives beyond simply espousing “traditional values.”
In the second part of the show, we discuss an online pamphlet that has gone viral entitled “Things You N* Should Know Before You Vote” which is a great starting point for challenging a good amount of the disinformation that is circulating online and in political conversations across the country.

We use the time to establish the extent of gun violence in this country and to breathe life into some stories that didn't reach the same extent as the Uvalde and Buffalo shootings.
In the second half of today's show, we discuss a story where Q's son was almost kidnapped. He immediately called the police and got the full experience of exactly what could be done about his child's near-kidnapping. This prompted us to rethink the role of police in society and to ask whether or not they actually prevent crime and keep us safe.
In the first half of today's episode, we discussed the articles that have since come out about the shooting in Uvalde Texas. We discussed how the police stood outside of the school while the children were being murdered. We use this as an opportunity to reexamine the myths surrounding policing in society and to rethink their role.

Today, we spent both halves of the show discussing the video of the execution of Quadry Sanders at the hands of two Oklahoma police officers. This episode is dedicated to the last few moments of another unarmed Black man's life. We grapple with the fear and hurt that ripples through the country each time this happens and discuss things as they are.

We had many examples to choose from this week and all of them felt important, but bullying underscored them all. With qualified immunity, the blue wall of silence, and no real repercussions for abuse, examples like these are innumerable and it felt like we should view this through a larger lens rather than just focusing on one example. Our Way Black History Fact is about the Stanford Experiments that give some insight into how people can abuse their peers when they have been given a position of "authority" and all other things are equal.

The example we use in today's episode is from Idaho Springs, CO where a deaf man Brady Mistic was beaten, arrested, and imprisoned by officers for not complying with orders (again, he is deaf). We also ask the question "How young should a child be before they are taught about race?' We revisit Critical Race Theory and its merits. You may have seen the viral video of the confrontation at Arizona State University's multicultural center between some non-White students and some White students with an anti-Biden shirt and a "Police Lives Matter" laptop sticker. This video has been shared on right-wing media as an example of anti-Whiteness or reverse racism with even Marjorie Taylor Greene commenting about it. In today's episode, we conduct a critical examination of some of the myths purported to be statistics by many right-wing media outlets in this country. This includes the 13/50 rule...a falsehood that suggests that Black people are responsible for 50% of all violent crime in the U.S. We also examine the relationships that retail stores have with their Black customer base. This includes Target developing surveillance programs with local police departments that ultimately further criminalized or otherwise expelled Black and Brown individuals at a rate of 80% and Whites at a rate of 20%. Furthermore we discuss Walmart locking up only Black hair care products in its stores while leaving all other products available to shoppers to freely choose without the aid of an employee. In today's episode, we discuss some of the troubles that exist between different communities of color. Often times when we find ourselves at odds, we don't take much time to examine how to grow from the experience...so this is what we are trying to do today. We discuss a deadly incident in Hawaii where an Asian couple called the police on a Black man who entered their home mistaking it for a temple. The man was executed by the police after having left and apologizing profusely. We then examine a story in which a Hispanic man in Las Vegas was arrested for randomly attacking Black people as part of his 'race war' as he saw it. This episode has an eye toward love and understanding, but we are still searching for systemic solutions....hopefully this dialogue helps us along that path.

In today's episode, we are examining an incident of police brutality involving a K-9 attack on an unarmed Black man Robert Gillian in Washington after he surrendered. We also discuss a sheriff's department in Florida that is tracking, watching, and harassing children they think are likely to grow up and become criminals. This "intelligence-based policing" has already led to much criticism and has resulted in harassment suits. Our Way Black History Fact is about negro-skin wallets! Morbid? Absolutely! We've come a long way!

Naomi Osaka and Kyrie Irving are both in the news for different reasons but certainly are helping establish a new narrative for Black people. We discuss the Tulsa Race Massacre and reflect on a parallel in Boston. We also highlighted Vanessa Carlton as an ally and the story behind it is pretty funny!
In today's episode, broadcasting veteran Corina comes up to share an experience that is all too common in Black life. She was confronted by a Karen, and subsequently attacked. She takes us through the thought process that many POC experience when deciding whether to defend themselves or to abandon their dignity. She is joined by her daughter Aria who what present during the encounter. We also take some time to discuss the allies who were present and how we all can learn how to become better allies when witnessing any injustice towards POC.
Our guests on today's show are three of the more visible leaders in the southwest for Black Lives Matter. We discuss an incident where a George Floyd memorial was destroyed by a White man in Minnesota. The conversation takes us to dealing with how many White men feel like they are under attack and how we can account for that while trying to battle White supremacy. We also discuss the ruling from the Andrew Brown case where the judge ruled that the officers had reason to believe they were in danger and therefore were justified in shooting him in the back as he fled away from them.
In today's episode, we start off by discussing how racism encompasses more than just the n-word. We discuss a viral video from North Carolina where an elderly Karen uses the word freely to describe a group of Black women she believed were laughing too loudly, and how most folks see that as racist behavior but not the behaviors (or lack thereof) that actually cause harm to Black and Brown communities. We also spend some time discussing the BLM apparel/salute ban from the Tokyo Olympics for 2022. We move on to discuss another instance of cultural insensitivity this time from Minnesota where a child asks his date to the prom and compares it to Black people picking cotton. We discuss why cultural education is important and should be preserved in schools. Finally, we talk about a Baton Rouge Police Department Narcotics Division officer named Jeremiah Ardain who blew the whistle on his departments corruption which resulted in hundreds of cases being thrown out, thousands being reexamined, and ultimately his own imprisonment.

We also spend time discussing comments from rapper G-Herbo where he stated that he needed to bring a gun to school every day. Finally, we go through a few videos that we hadn't been able to get to where police are abusing their power and further harming Black and Brown bodies and communities.

In this episode, we discuss the overt discrimination against and humiliation of many Black people in the nightlife arena. From the obstacles to establishing an entertainment company to the politics of keeping an established Black-to-White attendance ratio in nightclubs, this form of discrimination is in need of a critical examination by all people who would stand up to prejudice and subjugation.
In this episode, Q. Ward and I talk about an experience we had getting pulled over and out of our car by the police in Mississippi. We illustrate that there are certain prejudices built into policing that unfairly criminalize and subjugate Black people. Furthermore, we identify certain points that are central to the campaign to defund the police. Obviously we lived to tell the tale, but the story certainly gives insight into what it is like to be Black and (overly) policed in this country.
