In this podcast, Dr. Jade Benjamin-Chung and Dr. Jack Colford, interview Epidemiologists on studies they have conducted. These interviews are all focused on articles we assigned as readings of case studies and are also featured in problem set questions. These interviews provide students with an opportunity to learn about why certain studies were conducted, why a particular design was used, what the researcher’s main concerns were about the study, and how the study’s findings influenced policy and public health practice.
In this fifth episode, Dr. Jade Benjamin-Chung continues to interview Dr. Jen Ahern about the ecological study she conducted. In this second part, Dr. Benjamin Chung and Dr. Ahern will dive into analysis methods, threats to validity, and the results of this study.

Dr. Jade Benjamin-Chung and Dr. Jack Colford participated in the WASH (water, sanitation, and hygiene) benefits trials, conducted in Bangladesh and in Kenya. In this second part of the interview, you will learn about the potential sources of bias and confounding, the analysis of the trials, and what the trials found.
