This Podcast has been created by the Youth Work Service at Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust. Some of the LTHT Hospital based youth workers discuss their experiences of their work, and then move on to talk to young people about how they have found having access to this support in the hospital. Later in the podcast the youth workers talk to parents and professionals about their experiences of youth worker involvement.

Originally health professionals thought Ruth had an ovarian cyst but after numerous tests and complications of a diagnosis of Histoplasmosis, it was discovered that Ruth actually had Ewing’s Sarcoma.
Alicia was eight years old when she was diagnosed with a brain tumour, now 16, Alicia talks about how at the time she didn’t really understand the implications of having a brain tumour but now she can look back and realise how scary of a diagnosis it was and how she could have died.
