What happens when the very thing you worked so hard to achieve no longer feels like you?
Many high-achieving women reach a point where success looks good on paper, but internally, something feels disconnected. The title, the achievements, the recognition, and the responsibility may all be there, yet they quietly wonder: Is this still my purpose? Is this still who I am?

Today, we’re exploring what it means to outgrow your purpose, how to recognize the signs that you’re being called into a new chapter, and how to reconnect with the authentic identity beneath the expectations, achievements, and roles you’ve carried.

Joining us is Debbie Jackson, Certified Professional Leadership Coach, keynote speaker, and creator of the Trapped in Success Solution™. Why are so many high-achieving women exhausted, overwhelmed, and questioning themselves, even when they’re doing everything “right”?

Burnout isn’t always about working too many hours. Often, it’s the invisible emotional load, unspoken trauma responses, and impossible expectations placed on women that quietly drain their energy and confidence.

In this episode of WIL Talk, leadership expert Vicki Bradley sits down with trauma sensitivity specialist Adriana Leigh to unpack why burnout isn’t a personal weakness, it’s often the predictable outcome of systems that reward over-functioning and self-sacrifice. If you’ve ever wondered why successful women struggle to slow down, set boundaries, or ask for help, this conversation will change the way you think about leadership forever.

Despite billions spent on pulse surveys and engagement platforms, engagement levels remain stubbornly low.

Why? Because the real game-changer isn’t a dashboard or tool — it’s the manager sitting just a desk away.

We often diagnose the gaps, but then step back, expecting managers to fix them with little support. That’s like telling someone they have a health issue but not giving them the right prescription. It doesn’t work.

Remote work has made building trust and relationships harder, pushing the importance of human connection even higher.

It’s about nurturing those everyday moments of support and genuine connection — the foundation of trust, productivity, and retention.

In this episode, Jen Lipsey discusses the disconnect between employee engagement tools and actual leadership behaviors. She emphasizes the importance of managers' role in fostering trust, connection, and engagement, especially in remote and hybrid work environments, and offers practical strategies for leaders to improve team resilience and performance.

Have you ever considered that one of the biggest barriers to women leading confidently isn't skill or experience, but an unmanaged ego? I realized this during a recent conversation with leadership coach Christie Garcia, and it’s a game-changer for how I think about influence and presence.

We often think of ego in extremes, either the loudest, most boastful voice, or the quietest, but both can silently shape our actions without us realizing. Christy shared how our unconscious ego patterns shaped since childhood can quietly limit our influence if left unmanaged. These aren’t just leadership issues; they affect every level of our lives, from boardrooms to dinner tables.

Remember, leadership is a practice, not a perfection. Keep watching for those tiny wins, they add up to big change.

How does one navigate the world with a hidden disability and still thrive in a successful career? Join us as we speak with Monica Dreger, Monica oversees all worldwide research initiatives for Airbnb where she has created a foundation for company growth and inspired a new insights-driven philosophy. She built the team and vision for the first centralized research function for Airbnb and manages diverse sub-teams of Consumer Insights, UX research, Trends & Foresight, and Neuroscience research. She has previously held roles with other iconic brands including Mattel – where she oversaw the Barbie transformation, Unilever and Nickelodeon.

Monica learned at a very young age that she had a hearing impairment and could only make out a few words when speaking with others. She shares with us that there are many shades of grey when it comes to a disability and luckily, she was able to get the support she required to have one of the best hearing aids. This helped her to persevere and carry on with her life. She learned to remove the focus from herself and on others and she became an advocate for enabling her to give to others. Eventually learning not to be concerned with what other people thought of her helped her begin to lead with empathy and to never fall to a victim state.

She realized that most organizations are not equipped with the infrastructure to support those with a disability much less a hidden disability and that became even tougher after covid with most people working hybrid. Airbnb has worked really hard to create an environment that is diligent in finding the best possible outcomes by trying a variety of things to enhance the experience. Not perfect but a focus on inclusion has helped them to adapt.

Monica has dedicated her career to research as she is fascinated with the details and nuances being shared. She started her career as a group therapy leader and her focus has always been on listening which is remarkable considering her hidden disability. Her fascination with irrational thinking and the brain makes her the perfect person to dive deep into the details and facts that present themselves. We gain insight from her into how the brain works and how accelerated everything is today in our attention-deficit society.

To wrap up our conversation she shares some of her favourite insights regarding the transformation of the Barbie brand and how other organizations might take a look at how they can become more inclusive, which requires risk, but the payoff may be bigger than you realize.

What are the learnings young people need to understand when they are ready to hit the job market? And what is your money story? Lynn Herrick, COO of Bluecrest joins us again on the WIL Talk podcast to dive into these very important topics. Lynn previously joined us for episode #109 and today we are back to take a deeper into these topics. Lynn by trade is an international lawyer and has been able to use her skills in many different industries and today she is on the mission to find a business to take over and turn it around. Her experiences are incredible and her passion for sharing how to support our younger generations is priceless.

Kids need role models and to know they can be whatever they choose. Today we have endless possibilities but there are some foundational skills they must require to better navigate the real world. In our discussion, we discuss energy and what you are putting out – does it match what you want in life? You must pay attention and change it if it’s not going the way you want. We raise our kids to believe that if they get good grades, they will be fine and that is not reality. Once you enter the working world they must be prepared. Having a customer service mindset is helpful and what she means by that is going above and beyond, it’s not a check off the list, it is immersing yourself into the work and learning, asking for opportunities, having a great attitude and just doing it. Saying “yes” is super important and the willingness to try things.

She recommends preparing a 3-5-10 minute elevator pitch with a mindset of “I AM”. She shares some amazing examples of shifting failure to opportunity. When we don’t get what we want such as a job, what do we learn from it? How would you present differently next time?

Be aware of your communication. Kids are so used to social media and texting, but older adults might find the language rude, so check yourself regularly and ask someone to criticize you. A few tips she shares are about being able to carry on a conversation with an adult, ask questions, and be curious.

What is your money story? Money provides many options so how do you prepare yourself with strong financial acumen?

There are many myths about money, and it is our responsibility to educate ourselves on money and know our money philosophy. You can do that by reading books, listening to podcasts, attending conferences, or bank events on wealth management. Do not leave money decisions to your partner. You must know and consciously plan together for the future. She shares a great example about a woman who reached out after our last podcast and the experience they shared talking about money.

If you have questions about money reach out to Lynn or me, we are happy to share our own experiences or connect you with someone professionally trained.

Welcome to today's episode of "The Power of Discovery," where we delve into the transformative potential of embracing the unknown. Today, we're privileged to sit down with Karen Golden-Biddle, an award-winning researcher whose work shines a light on the oft-overlooked leadership capacity of discovery.

Karen's groundbreaking research in organizational ethnography reveals the profound impact of cultivating a practice of discovery within leadership. But what does it mean to be an organizational ethnographer? It's not about observing from afar; it's about immersing oneself in the everyday lives of people within organizations, experiencing their joys, struggles, and challenges firsthand.

Through her extensive studies, Karen has unearthed the essence of discovery as a dynamic process, not just an outcome. It's about asking the right questions, challenging beliefs, and embracing surprise and doubt. In a world where organizations often prioritize predictability and efficiency, the power of discovery can be overlooked. But Karen's work illuminates its vital role in driving innovation and lasting change.

During our conversation, we delve into the meaning of an organization ethnographer. What it’s like to work within verses on a topic or organization. How the art of discovery lies in the process not the actual outcome. How the inventive process is emergent and what it is like to shift as a human being when you focus on the relational outcomes.

Maria has had a diverse career spanning software development, management consulting, executive leadership, and entrepreneurship. Then she found plant medicine and mindfulness work bringing her back to the world and her family.

In 2018 she was sought out to run a large tech team and was baffled as to why they had contacted her only to realize this is what she needed. Given her experiences with connecting her masculine and feminine, she was able to quickly realize some wins for the team and aligning the expectations with the results. She talks about getting clear with what you want and how to communicate that to others and align the team on a common vision. But you must emotionally connect and be engaged with that vision for it to come to fruition.

What does it take to navigate the labyrinth of challenges that women confront daily in our work and in our lives? Dr Andrea “Andi” Simon joins us to discuss just how we might do this. Dr Andi is a pioneering corporate anthropologist renowned for guiding companies through transformative change. She is the author of two acclaimed books and now a third which she co-authored in order to amplify the wisdom of over 102 women. She is joined by Edie Fraser and Robyn Spizman in the creation of “Women Mean Business”. She is also the CEO of the award-winning, Simon Associates Management Consultants, where she brings theories, methods, and the tools of anthropology into businesses to help them “see, feel, and think” in new ways, revolutionizing change.

Dr. Andi and I take a deep dive into understanding what drives her passion for transformative change and what prompted her approach of using ethnography and the observations garnered from anthropological research to help companies to change and also this focus on empowerment of women by sharing their wisdom and expertise. So what exactly is an anthropology approach, it is an approach that is focused on observing, being curious, and just watching what happens before we make any conclusions or assumptions. There is great power in being ok with uncertainty and just watching to see what unfolds. Her mission is to help organizations not only see what needs to happen but to be able to feel and think it through. If you pay attention there will always be themes that emerge.

So why are so many of us resistant to change? Change is scary and it is the unknown. We as humans like to feel safe and so three things, she shares with us to know:

  1. Know your mind has a story – whether it is true or not is dependent on you.
  2. You live it and therefore it becomes a habit.
  3. Makes you feel consciously incompetent.

We are not sure how to play the game so change seems scary. The pandemic is a great example of how we quickly adapted to the uncertainties and so the important thing is to manage your mind and just show up.

In her latest book, “Women Mean Business” she and her co-authors celebrate and elevate women by showcasing their wisdom and stories to help us better navigate the complexities in life. She reminds us if we cannot see our role models it’s hard to be one. We must engage on all levels and be aware of what and how we show up. Her own personal mottos include that it’s not about me but about us, to make change your friend, and build your resilience so that you can thrive. Such a great episode packed with many examples of how change can help you to thrive.

Why is your image so important not only in your career but in life overall? Linda Yates, the Image Energizer, joins us to talk about all things image. Linda is a dynamic speaker, author, and executive coach and is known for her positive energy and real-world strategies. She has worked with over 10,000 individuals representing Fortune 500 companies including CVS/Aetna, Delta Airlines, Wells Fargo, and Fannie Mae, just to mention a few. Her mission is to inspire, inform, and illustrate how to lead, build teams, and communicate a positive, polished, and professional image. She believes NOTHING is impossible.

At 13 years old Linda knew she wanted to focus on image and asked her parents to invest $300 so that she could go to a seminar to learn about image. She knew exactly what she wanted to do. Then life, marriage, the stories we tell ourselves, and her plans changed. So, she left her dream on the table for over 30 years and entered the corporate world. Then as life does, eleven years ago, her dream came back to the forefront, and she circled back to her true passion of helping clients create an image of distinction.

The image of distinction is about how you show up, behave, and communicate with yourself and others. She shares with us the importance of the embodied condition which is bringing the result of how you feel with what you wear. During our conversation we share many stories both personal for each of us but also those we have encountered. How what you wear has an impact on how you show up and why what you wear should be reflective of how you want to be perceived.

Some research that was conducted with sales professionals measured their results when wearing a particular colour, they liked versus a colour they didn’t, and sales went down with the colour they didn’t like. Interesting how this impacts not only us but the energy we emit and the impacts on others.

We also discuss what not to wear and being highly in tune with your surroundings. You need to think about what your purpose is and who you are meeting with, does it make sense what you are wearing. She shares some great examples of when she moved from the Midwest to Miami. Linda shares that for women when you are speaking and remove your jacket, you actually lose 50% of your perceived authority. And lastly, we speak to that internal image and the communication we share. Words matter and powerful words create an emotional response so think carefully when you choose your words. Always look to lift others including yourself.

How does one find their passion and give back at the same time? Join us for a conversation with Blima Ehrentreu, CEO of The Designers Group where she speaks with us about her passion for creating and innovating in a way that leaves a lasting legacy.

Blima shares how she first became interested in design and construction at the early age of 8 when her parents moved across the street from her family home to demolish and rebuild it. She was fascinated with every step of the process and was eager to see the finished product.

She speaks with us about having a diverse lens and perspective enabling her and her team to bring the best from the many cultures we experience. She also talks about the importance of empowering others and not letting perceived obstacles get in your way.

Giving back is a core staple of her business which is why she created a platform “TDG Furniture Exchange” that takes someone’s furniture that is no longer needed and matches it to a new owner. This keeps less furniture out of our landfills and makes someone else very happy to receive an item that they need.

In addition, they have created TDG Gives Back which allows individuals interested in design to spend a day at their offices to learn and step into the shoes of this creative process. They will mentor individuals hoping to become designers. Check out their website to learn more: thedesignersgroup.com.

Blima’s passion for the work that they do at TDG is inspiring. Knowing you love what you do every day makes it feel not like work but more like living your dream. That’s not to say that every day is easy but it’s worth it!!

Her focus on creating an experience through design and truly understanding the needs of her clients is crucial to her work. Using skills to really listen, hearing beyond what is being said and touching all of the senses is what brings a design to its fruition.

What is the ugly truth about the world of beauty: Is it doing more harm (to both you and the planet) than good? Join us for a conversation with CEO, Susannah Dellinger of the Bright Beauty Collective as she shares her journey over the past 17 years as a top executive for leading luxury brands such as Trish McEvoy, Laura Mercier, Dr. Brandt Skincare to name a few. She started her own personal health journey when faced with sudden hormonal issues, adult-onset acne, unexplained infertility, and a devastating miscarriage. She soon realized the ugly truth about the world of beauty and began to ask the question is it doing more harm than good, especially to yourself and the planet?

During her journey, she began to discover effective brands with beautiful skincare and makeup products that left out toxicities, utilized alternative energy sources, gave back to the community, used reusable packaging, and minimized beauty’s footprint on the planet. With the firm belief that these rising conscious beauty brands could compete against the big names if given the right access to retail advantages, she founded the Bright Beauty Collective (BBC) in October 2021. Using her expertise in the luxury beauty industry, she is giving conscious brands such as Indie Lee, OGEE, One Love Organics, Jillian Dempsey, RMS Beauty, Solara Suncare, and Kjaer Weis a voice, presence, and the tools to stand out on the shelves, with the hope that big-name brands will take notice and start following suit.

In our conversation, we discuss the role marketing plays in the multi-billion-dollar industry and how conscious brands can compete. We also dive into the stories we tell ourselves and how to overcome and take that step of courage to have an impact. In only a few short years, Susannah has taken an idea and passion and turned it into a multi-million-dollar industry raising awareness and educating consumers about conscious beauty choices globally. Today she has over 140 freelancers that lead this charge across the globe.

Warning – this is an episode that is a must to listen to. You will better understand not only what you put into your body but what you put on it and the potential harm it will cause. Revolutionizing conflict with creativity, how does one do that with grace? Karen Valencic, Mechanical engineer, and author of Spiral Impact, Aikido Master combines her experience with conflict resolution and leadership to offer a fresh view to transform the leadership journey.

Karen loves the art of Aikido, a martial arts practice that began back in the early 1900s and is the truest form of martial arts. She takes us on a journey of how power moves with us rather than against us. Aikido mimics life through the movements of energy and creativity; struggle and fear keep us stuck, and differences between people, when: they don’t see things your way or you are at an impasse.

She speaks to the power of intention and knowing what it is you desire and the 3 levels to check in with: 1) Big picture 2) Personal by honouring yourself and others 3)Immediate intent – what do you want now?

She provides a great metaphor of how a hammer and nail are forced with short-term impact, whereas a screw and screwdriver provide expansion and longer-term effects. So many great examples of how Spiral Impact actually gains momentum. We discuss what conflict is and why so many avoid it like the plague. Conflict can be used in a very healthy way to build a creative tension or if not used properly will create a destructive tension. That destructive conflict pushes hard, fast, and long, the intention is typically to control, make wrong, or destroy. Whereas conflict mastery pushes just right for the people involved. The intention is to engage for positive outcomes and innovation.

How do you handle conflict? In what ways do you practice either creative tension or destructive tension?

You can read more about Karen’s on her website at www.spiralimpact.com.

Why is male allyship so important especially for female leaders? Join us as we speak with Dr. Anju Virmani who spent many years as Director of Engineering and is passionate about her role as a director for many boards which include Payments Canada, Ontario Power Generation and Ontario Health. She migrated to Canada at the young age of 20 and sadly her education was not recognized. But she knew she had to find a way to build a life and sustain herself in her new country and even after a lot of discouragement, she decided to switch from child education to computer programming, eventually leading her into engineering where her focus was about solving for complexities.

During our conversation, Dr. Virmani shared with us the opportunities and challenges faced when working in male-dominated sectors, and how she is making a difference for both men and women as they navigate the differences in how we lead. She also speaks about the work she has done to encourage and support students (especially women) in those final years of school by helping with scholarships and mentorship. Her influence spreads wide and far with those she leads and is a role model for.

The power distribution belongs to men – so how do we get better at empowering more women? And how do you ignore the male influence? This becomes critical to change the narrative. Understanding the role male allies play and how both men and women leaders have a responsibility and power to make this change. She shared a great story when she was invited to join a celebration for Diwali and out of 40 participants, she was the only female in the room. The men were congratulatory and communicative, and yes there were no other women in the room. She was comfortable highlighting this and encouraging everyone to change that in the future. She also talks about the importance of ensuring our boys are raised with equality in mind. We can’t make changes unless we are all working toward building a pipeline for a more equitable future.

Another wonderful example she shares is when a male ally invited her to a round table discussion with Prime Minister Stephen Harper…to learn what happened and her first experience being on a board, have a listen.

How do you overcome ageism in today’s society? Corinne Aumen, Ph.D. joins us for a conversation to talk about ageism and her new book, “Keenagers”. She is the founder of Choice Care Navigators based out of Greensboro, NC, where her company is dedicated to helping families navigate the aging process. Her passion lies in helping us reshape how we perceive older adulthood, a vision she has beautifully encapsulates in her book “Keenagers”. She is on a mission to change the conversation around aging. Especially in a culture where many avoid thinking about older adulthood until the last minute, she urges us to embrace aging in a positive light.

During our conversation, Corrine explained where ageism comes from and how we have the largest demographic of people over 65 years of age with 10,000 people daily turning 65 and the highest number of people wanting or needing to continue to work.

Research shows that those living a powerful and purposeful life gain a longer life by at least 7 ½ years. If we don’t have purpose that is when we start to see that negative downhill effect usually after the 18-month honeymoon phase. Dr. Becca Levy shares a lot of research and stats on ageism and more about the impact of the 7 ½ years. Corinne urges us to get educated and to better understand that living with purpose helps increase our vitality but also how older generations impact business and healthcare.

She speaks with us about stereotypes and how what we say matters.

Some of those stereotypes in business might include things like:

  • Older people can’t learn.
  • Older workers cost more money.
  • Work is too much for them.

But the benefits of keeping older adults include:

  • Maintaining a strong knowledge bank.
  • The social acumen.
  • Etc.

If we take an example like technology, the older generation is being left out and with having the largest population ever in an older demographic, this becomes highly impactful. Especially when a youngster is creating apps and algorithms’ s that are focused on a specific demographic. And with the acceleration of AI (Artificial Intelligence) it’s even more important to influence the knowledge of older generations to help us shape correctly and with fewer biases.

Healthcare is another area that is impacted greatly as we will often hear doctors explain things away because of age versus the actual problem at hand. It becomes imperative that you advocate for yourself or at least have someone with you to help advocate and get the answers you need.

Corinne urges us to educate and arm ourselves for the day that each of us will eventually get to, ageism impacts everyone and we owe it to ourselves to prepare and enter it prepared.

If you have questions for Corinne that we did not answer in this podcast you can find her on her social feeds on IG, FB, and LI.

When your career starts to itch, you gotta scratch it, according to Randi Roberts. After spending 30 years in the corporate world in big pharma, Randi had a variety of roles from sales representative to Executive roles. She is a hippie at heart, Ivy League education, an MBA earned from San Diego University, and is now an Executive and Career-Life coach. During her time with Big Pharma, she loved it and yet knew there was something more for her to do.

Randi shared some tips with us to help us start to identify when that itch begins, sometimes its subtle and other times it can be out right smack in the face, but we should pay attention when we start to feel or begin to:

  • Hit the snooze button more regularly on workdays.
  • Pay attention to how you are reacting to situations.
  • Listen to your body talk, what is it trying to show or tell you? How and where are you out of alignment?
  • More irritated by projects, team members, etc.
  • Energy is low.

These are just a few to pay attention to and recognize that often it can be situational, or maybe your focus and goals have changed. The key here is to pay attention.

We also discuss some of the current trends happening in the workforce. It used to be known as the 7-year itch and now it’s more like every 3 years people change their jobs but remember, “no matter where you go, there you are” so figure out what is making you itchy at this time before you make a big move. And know that it’s not forever. This too shall pass but being intentional and mapping out where you want to get to, is an important exercise to go through and that is often where a coach can help you to figure that out.

Think about how important growth is to you and what that might look like as you navigate your map. What’s next and what is your risk tolerance in all aspects of your life?

Being intentional about your career roadmap is a must as a woman in today’s world. Rosie Zilinskas, Founder of “ No Woman Left Behind” believes wholeheartedly in the transformative power of confidence and a strategically crafted career roadmap. She experienced a rich tapestry of over thirty years in corporate leadership and shares with us about her journey and why it is imperative for women especially to craft their career roadmap.

During our conversation, Rosie shared some of her best ideas for building your story vault and making sure you are prepared constantly with those Top 5 accomplishments. How at the age of 9, we are at our peak with confidence and the importance of building critical thinking skills, especially for our young people. In addition, she shared her latest read, “Worthy” by Jamie Kern Lima. In this new release, Jamie does an amazing analogy of how to look at confidence, her example is that your worth is like the foundation of your house where you pour the concrete, and rebar, to ensure it is strong enough to hold the house, and confidence is the house on top, and when someone throws a rock through the window it might shatter the window (confidence) but you can patch that up and yet the foundation is still solid and no harm comes to your worth. I loved this example and the simplicity of her explanation.

Rosie also explains why it is up to you to create that roadmap and to not leave it up to someone else to create it for you, you might not like the path it takes you and so when you don’t vocalize the path to others how are they to know where you want your road to take you.

Have you built your career roadmap? Where do you want to go and how are you communicating that with confidence and clarity?

Each of us has our own individual journey to take and one woman’s journey with Celiac disease and the IVF process has led her on the path to discovering wellness products that are safe for you, your body and your family. Kori Estrada, Co-Founder of Risewell, joins us for a conversation to discuss how she and her partners are disrupting the oral care industry with an all-natural, sustainable brand that prioritizes safe ingredients and transparency.

During our conversation, Kori shared how life’s unexpected turns have prepared her for the innovation and work she does today. From investment banker to entrepreneur and how the 2008 financial crash, her experiences on her food journey to healing Celiac disease, to her experience with the IVF process to understanding what she was ingesting orally and/or topically to the impact that was having on her hormones. All of these stages have forced her to look for other ways to heal and to do so more naturally. We have an in-depth discussion around fluoride and the damage it causes, plus how “natural” doesn’t always mean good for you or truly natural. We discuss the use of hydroxyapatite, which was discovered back in the 70s by NASA when returning astronauts needed to rebuild their enamel, and the fact that 60% of the market in Japan’s oral care products use this ingredient. But why in North America do we not? Listen in to find out. And last but not least we enter the world of microbiome and the importance of what is killing it in our bodies. You don’t want to miss this conversation especially if you have kids or have been using fluoride.

Imposter syndrome is a very real phenomenon that many individuals encounter so what do you do about it? Irene Sim, founder of the Coaching Alliance Group joins us to share her story where at the young age of 10 she encountered her first experience with having to speak up to the power that could change her and her family's life, then a second time when she migrated to Australia and didn’t feel like she belonged. Always struggling with this pit and ickiness in her stomach and then she realized her power when remembering the courage of her 10-year-old self.

She shares with us how we marinate in social expectations and tend to internalize and make these messages our realities. But we don’t have to. During our conversation, she graciously shares her 4 step method of overcoming. 1) Call it out, 2) Lean into the ABCD process 3) Marvel at what happens and then celebrate it 4) Let your inner champion rise to the call.

You have to listen to the full episode to really capture her ABCD method and I highly encourage it. Practical and informative, a gift that she shares beautifully. Her next mission is to put full attention on the systems we have and by creating her Allies in Leadership Network we can use privilege to make great changes.

Building your personal brand is not just a nice to do, it is a must-do. No matter how introverted or against social media you are - building your personal brand is critical on so many levels. During our conversation with Kate Pozeznik, who is a personal branding expert, she shares her views on how, why, and what you need to do to build your personal brand. One of the most important aspects of building your brand is to know that 70% of employers evaluate candidates by watching what you say and how you say it. This is one important way for employers to keep an eye on how you are being inside and outside of your place of employment.

We also discuss how our identity gets tied to our careers and that we are so much more than our careers. We are leaders, moms, sisters, community activists, friends, thought leaders and the list goes on and on. Our identity is not what we do but more about who we are, what are we known for, our values, and to make it personal and yet still professional. So building your brand and being authentically you is more important than ever. Kate shares wonderful tips on how to get started such as updating your LinkedIn profile and using Canva to create a banner for your backdrop. But it’s not just about having a LI profile, it’s about setting yourself up as a thought leader and many of us think “What do I have to share that would interest others?” Chances are if you are thinking that someone else is thinking the same thing you have the opportunity to engage with other like-minded individuals.

She also recommends you google yourself – by conducting a social media audit you ensure that what is online is reflective of who you want the world to see and get to know. These are just a couple of her tips, have a listen to learn more and if you have questions please feel free to reach out. How often do you think about the advertisements you receive, especially after having a conversation with someone and then suddenly you receive something on your phone? Wendy Pace, owner of Pace Setting Media joins us to share exactly why that happens. Wendy is a strategic and results-driven leader who leverages her expertise with AI, algorithms, and digital marketing, with a particular focus on platforms like LinkedIn and TikTok. She strongly advocates for businesses to explore TikTok, shedding light on the importance of AI in crafting social media marketing strategies. In an era of diminishing attention spans, Wendy emphasizes the significance of live videos and dynamic content.

She does a great job breaking down the benefits of each platform and determining which is best depending on why you are using them, regardless if it's personal or professional. During our discussion, she talked about how AI amplifies the gold standard of data collection and that you only get out of it what you put into it. You are responsible for ensuring your input is meeting your objectives. She also stressed paying attention to the fine details which is tough as we are a society that moves at warped speed.

Her whole philosophy is about “Answering the questions we are searching for” and that will help you connect with your audience. You should be asking the same questions in many different ways to see what resonates with different audiences. To keep in mind that AI is nothing without human interaction, it is nothing more than a powerful search engine today but in 10 years might be different.

Thanks, Wendy – this was a highly informative conversation.

How often do you avoid having difficult conversations? Kim Carpenter, #Founder of People at the Center joins us for a conversation to break down why so many of us struggle with difficult conversations and how we might approach differently. Having difficult conversations is not easy no matter how much experience you have and we all tend to dread or avoid it if we can but what are the costs of doing so? Join us as we unpack this and so many more reasons our connections break down.

Kim talks about listening sessions, being intentional with creating the spaces necessary to find out if we are okay with those best practices to create psychologically safe spaces for our people and what happens neurologically when the amygdala is highjacked. We often hear how teams are struggling to get it all done and that they can’t keep up, and yet there is still more to do. This is true and we need to be ok with not getting it all done.

We also dive into how effective communication can support leaders, teams, and organizations in doing great things when we practice and find what’s not working. And finally, we dive into self-reflection, self-awareness, and taking ownership as key to being an effective communicator. Once we understand the gaps and start with ourselves we can make those micro changes that can lead to extensive positive impact for individuals and entire organizations.

How does one write their way to healing? We had an incredible conversation with the founder of “ From Me to You” a global movement focused on helping others heal through writing. She shares with us the importance of self-leadership the acknowledgment of what has happened on your journey of life and being able to connect and identify how these experiences might shape us. By facing the dark side of our lives we can experience another level of living. During our conversation, she shares many of her tips and techniques for leaning into writing to attain clarity and intention.

What are the potential consequences of current DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) initiatives to both individuals and society as a whole? During our conversation with Dr. Rebekah Wanic, who has her Ph.D. with an emphasis on social psychology, we discussed the importance of mindset and the ideology that is influenced by social environments. Rebekah is a gifted speaker and university lecturer, she has appeared in academic journals and publications from around the world and is an expert in social psychology.

Rebekah dives into the pitfalls and double bind taking place currently with not allowing or encouraging critical thinking and pushing a one-sided ideology. She discusses with us how the intent is to lift others with DEI initiatives but the exact opposite is happening and when we swing the pendulum too far one way we inevitably harm the other side of things. We discuss the importance of finding a balance or harmony with any type of initiative. And how we have created this society that gives out rewards without having to work for it. I loved her quote “ Nothing of value comes without effort”.

We also dig into the importance of mindset and taking responsibility for yourself. What is empowering or disempowering you? It is your choice and not the responsibility of others to create the life you desire and if you don’t take responsibility there are long-term consequences, which she shares examples of with us.

Would love to hear your thoughts on DEI and how it is/isn’t working in your organization. What would you rather see happening?

How often do you shy away from taking risks because you are afraid you might fail? Or you’re more concerned with not having the right knowledge to take on that next level of your career? Join us in a conversation with Lynn Herrick. Lynn is a lawyer by training but this is a woman with a career path that has led her to be an incisive, effective, and creative executive with a remarkable 20-year history of building high-growth companies. I wanted Lynn to share her success stories and how she found the confidence to make the moves that she has made. She has worked in several industries including technology, telecommunications, manufacturing, and healthcare, where she is a leader overseeing operations that extend to every corner of an enterprise.

During our conversation, Lynn and I discussed the importance of utilizing all of your skills knowing how to transfer them to any career choice you might have, and knowing that your courage grows as your career grows. If we are open and curious we learn so much every day about what to do more of and what not to do. But it's important to set the vision you want to see, say it out loud, and then attract the right people to join you in taking action.

One of her most important pieces of advice is to take action, even if it is small, just do it and then take time to celebrate. Make sure you build your support system to learn and continue to grow as you go. That can be through your network, reading, mentors, hiring a coach, etc. But you owe it to yourself to invest in yourself and be the role model you want to be in this world.

What are your thoughts after listening to this episode? Ready to take more risk? Ready to speak out loud what you want?

Are you curious about the truth or myth in the differences between male and female brains? We had the opportunity to speak with Professor Gina Rippon Emeritus Professor of Cognitive Neuroimaging at the Aston Brain Centre, Aston University. She is the past President of the British Association of Cognitive Neuroscience, and her research involves state-of-the-art brain imaging techniques to investigate developmental disorders such as autism especially regarding unrecognized females on the autistic spectrum. Her research also involves the use of neuroscience techniques to explore social processes, particularly those associated with sex/gender issues. She is a passionate supporter of initiatives to address the underrepresentation of women in all spheres of influence, especially science, and advocates an understanding of ‘the neuroscience of belonging’ as a framework to address the gender gaps. She is the author of “ Gender and Our Brain”.

During our conversation, we discuss the myths associated with brain differences or the lack of them and how 18th-century beliefs have continued to the present day with little progress in shifting the thinking around our brains. It was positioned for men to be seen as superior and women inferior. We still see in today’s world that most CEOs are men and that fewer women are representatives in positions of power. She clarifies that there is overlap in research data to point to the minimal differences in male and female brains but our environment plays a significant role in how our brains are developed. Whether that be starting as young as a newborn baby and how we condition the baby to engage with society. She cautions us to pay attention to our definitions and language as we speak about even things like the gender pay gap which are sex gaps. How boys are taught to be brave, and girls are taught to be perfect, these beliefs carry forward into how our lives are shaped and even in more progressive countries where there is still a little impact in more women working in the sciences, mathematics, technology, etc.

And finally, the elephant in the room is around AI, and how that will impact our society going forward. Without having more women and diversity engaging in the setup, design, input, and sharing of their personal experiences – we are in for a bigger challenge that will set us back even further. Let us know your thoughts on this conversation.

How do you and your organization build a culture of psychologically safe space enabling more human connection and trust? Join us as we speak with Vicky Smith about her research and work on this ever-important topic and the shift that is needed urgently. Vicky has her Masters in Organisational Development, Psychology, and Applied Health and Exercise, she is currently working on her PhD researching psychological safety in organizations. She is also qualified as an NLP trainer, psychotherapist, and executive coach. As you can see from her bio, she is an avid and lifelong learner. She is also the co-author of “Brave New Leader”.

During our discussion, we dive into the acceleration of change taking place and how there is little to no stability, many not knowing what the future holds and how difficult that can be for many. She emphasized the pressure that is mounting for people and the need for a better balance between pressure and performance. Individuals struggle with the choices between family and work, lacking boundaries and needing to check in with themselves and what best serves them. While organizations are hanging on by the fingernails, attempting to stay competitive, and lots of cost-cutting, the pressure is pushed down to the people and then the pressure escalates.

Some of her tips are for creating a culture of expression, one that is trusting and can be trusted. Treating people as people and finding their strengths. Teams don’t work in isolation so that encourages building relationships throughout the organization. The need to pay attention to the eye-rolling, backstabbing or gossiping, and side glances all give you clues to what is going on. So that’s when we need to slow it down and determine the pinch point and the culture shift required. What is the culture we have created implied or explicit? Being aware of those subtleties can start to shift and gain buy-in from the teams. But also, there is a need for candid conversations with the intent to support. Feedback is a Gift!!!

Would love to hear your thoughts on the conversation and what you see happening in your organization.

How does one build on their economic power? What is our civic responsibility as human beings? These are some of the questions I dive into with Dr. Avis Deweever on the WIL Talk podcast this week. Dr. Avis earned her Ph.D. in Political Science and is part of the think tank industry working on the ecosystem of research just outside of Washington, DC. She is also an entrepreneur who teaches Black women business owners how to scale their businesses by developing high-ticket offers and implementing high-profile media and marketing methods. She is also a frequent speaker on race, gender and the economy, poverty, inequality of educational and economic opportunity, and issues of privilege, power, and policy in the US. Her advocacy is about speaking up about how policies are set and ensuring no harm is done or ridding policies that do harm people. She is a force and supports others in building their economic power and recognizes the need, especially for women to believe in themselves and create the lifestyle they desire.

She talks about the shift of women leaving corporations to start their businesses, especially black women. Research shows that women earn .72 cents to every dollar a man earns and for black women there is a double wage gap. Not only do women earn less but black women earn only .62 cents to other women. Not to mention the lack of access to mentorship and sponsorship. We all need to be better at taking an active role in making changes and holding accountable those we put into power. She shares many tips on how to do that and knows that your voice is important, and we must pay attention to exercising our power. So many amazing takeaways from this conversation.

How do women break down the barriers to achieve true representation? Well, that is a conversation we had with Mary Hayashi, former California State Assemblymember and the author of “Women in Politics: Breaking Down the Barriers to Achieve True Representation. Mary’s journey as an Asian American Immigrant and former State Assemblymember is both enlightening and inspiring. She shares her journey and purpose but also the stories of 17 other inspiring leaders who influenced her to write the book and her political journey. This is not just about politics; our conversation applies to anyone striving to be in a leadership position and the systemic barriers that exist especially for women.

One quote that has inspired her perseverance is “You can’t be what you can’t see”, so she wanted to change that and so her book and mission highlight just how she is doing that, along with the many others she interviewed for her book.

We discuss the imagination barrier and how that gets in our way by the role model effect. And how culturally our upbringing impacts the way we see things such as with the “silent good girl” or by being invisible. Several barriers and consequences show up such as the need to be liked or the likeability factor, the ambition gap where we are silenced to pursue a particular path, and how all of this impacts our confidence to put our hands up and just do it.

Mary also speaks to how women are more purpose-driven and use their personal experiences to invoke change especially when it comes to policy or legislation issues. Where men are focused on power. This is especially important as to why we need more women leading whether that is in government, community, not-for-profit, or corporate environments. There are many reasons for this need such as advocating for others, no more suffering in silence, mental health issues, etc. Maintaining confidence is not easy when others doubt your abilities but when you are purpose-driven and know you can make a difference you just have to go for it, no matter what others say.

Let us know what you think of this conversation and how you might want to step into your true purpose.

As a hospital President, Cheryl’s hospital nailed being in the 99th percentile in its performance metrics and sustained this standing year after year. She was asked many times how she maintains this status which is how Recalibrate came to life, where she reverse-engineered the work she did at the hospital and today works with many organizations to support them in leading more skillfully in times of uncertainty. She is also the author of the book, “Face to Face, A Guide to Leading More Skillfully in Times of Disruption and Uncertainty”. I love her book as it is a tale of her personal experiences navigating a safari on horseback in South Africa.

During our conversation, Cheryl speaks to the many leadership lessons that are required to learn as we navigate the complexities of the world today and how we have created a society that believes it’s all about us and the reality is it’s not about you!! Leaders ask themselves the question – who do I placate and who is throwing the biggest temper tantrum now? We must get away from this mindset especially as we realize that “what you permit, you promote”. She talks about how we have moved away from relationships and the need to be very clear on the expectations and allow behaviors. It’s like a cancer, if you allow it to spread it will take over the entire body.

She developed the B99 framework to make it easier for leaders to take an outside look at their organization. It’s like putting a puzzle together and you must make all the pieces fit. She is offering you a chance to take her free quiz and will book a 30-minute consultation with you to share some of the highlights. Why is it important to have more women on boards and build strong communities? Join us as we speak with Cecile Moulard, CEO of Mixr, and strong community-based platform that helps businesses build inclusive, trusting, communities within their organizations. Cecile shares her experience of being the only female on several boards and because of her technology background, other board members struggled to include her. Recognizing this was not about her she began to study why people had such a tough time finding common ground which is also how she developed Mixr. She was a pioneer with tech in France and brought Amazon to the country and this is where she really learned the importance of understanding the end user and how to follow the life cycle of customers' experience.

In our conversation, we discuss the importance of bringing the collective back how individualism has had such a negative impact on mental health, and why building your community is more important than ever. Cecile is a book lover and shared with us her latest reading which is by Jane McGonigal who is a game designer and author of the Unimaginable Future. Dr. Laura Hays joins us for a conversation to share her experience in an incredibly high-stress role as an emergency room physician, especially during the pandemic, and how her exceptional leadership skills were instrumental in maintaining the effectiveness and integrity of her team during the pandemic. She is a dynamic speaker, podcaster, certified physician, coach, and an Assistant Professor at Campbell School of Medicine. She was also peer-voted Doctor of the Year at her sizeable medical center.

Dr. Laura shares with us the importance of overall well-being and how during the pandemic she saw so many neglect their care. She hosts a podcast called “Lasting Impact” where you can learn even more about the role you play in your self-care and how important this is as you age. Many of us spend our lives on auto-pilot, a term used to describe how we might unconsciously go through life and not recognize how we get from point A to point B. When we are not tuned in and being intentional life happens to us and we must become the lead in this dance of life that we navigate every day. She shares how sleep impacts our overall well-being and how most of us are starved for more of it, what things we can do to improve, and bring awareness to how and what we are feeding our bodies.

I love the ripple effect she speaks to and how the mind and body are in this constant dance with one another, and as long as we are listening, we have a chance to be in harmony.

Introducing “Networking: Love It or Hate It," a comprehensive workshop designed to help you unleash the power of meaningful connections and take your networking skills to new heights by moving you from hating it to loving it.

The WIL Talk podcast releases its 100th episode today!! We thank you for your continued support and for listening from all around the globe. This is not something we take for granted and appreciate our listeners so very much. In this episode, we speak to Robert Althuis the author of “Never Enoughitis” and “Love and Truth’. Robert spent many years in corporate America building and leading businesses across the globe, he had the perfect wife, kids, and careers, at least that is what he thought until that all disappeared, and his real life began.

In our conversation, Robert shares how moving from Holland to America was his dream, to have it all, and then recognize how that was all a game. A game that man plays and how he describes his journey from living in his head to living from his heart, and how once you see, you can never be unseen. He educates us about the secret sauce of love and how conditional love is an emotion whereas real love is an energy. That love energy has intelligence, and consistency to it. He also speaks to the male archetypes and shadow sides of the male and why we need the feminine power to harmonize with the masculine. Fascinating how he describes the shadow side and the corruption of man, and that the 3 pillars are: women, money, and power, how that is abused but in a healthy state there is no abuse, that women are honoured, money is shared generously and power is used for good.

His parting gift is for women to move beyond the need for male recognition and know their worth, to right their own rules. In his book, “Love and Truth” he shares a quote that truly resonates with Epicteus “ No man is free who is not the master of himself”. Let us know what you think of this 100th episode and what you are taking away from this conversation.

From being sex trafficked to a successful 6-7 figure business leader relying on intuition and inner guidance. Megan Camille joins us to share her story of resilience and strength at the age of 19 she was trafficked, and it took her 4 years to find her way back home. As a young girl, Megan always had intuitive abilities and was seen differently from the other kids, which sometimes kept her isolated so when she was trafficked, it was very subtle and unassuming until it wasn’t. One thing she talks about is how hard it is to detect or remove someone from these situations. Trafficking in the US alone last year accounted for 27 million people according to the State Department, and these are the cases we know about.

Fortunately, Megan was able to escape this life and found her way to a path of healing and self-exploration. She shares with us how money plays a big role in our decisions and that pure survival helped her to create not 1 but 4 successful businesses. She firmly believes that business is 80% energetics and 20% strategy. She speaks a lot about how the gut can guide us through the darkness and show lights of opportunity when you tap into it and listen. The other thing she speaks to is the importance of how we educate our children about life and respecting boundaries. Truly an inspirational conversation. Thank you ,Megan.

A few stats about human and sex trafficking: 96% of those trafficked are women, 81% accused of trafficking are men, and 45% are between the age of 18-24 years old. These numbers are off the charts and we don’t speak about them enough.

How do you know when it is time to pivot or be pivoted in your career? Join us as we speak with Jenn Smith, founder of Flourish Careers as she shares her thoughts on how to make that transition when you are ready to pivot or if you are being pivoted. We spend 90,000 + hours working in our careers, and it is so important to be doing what you love. During our conversation Jenn shares how to reconnect from the heart as you navigate the complexities of transitioning, being aware of the energy you are generating and the impact you have on those you lead.

Value alignment is so important and to break that down between your core values and your lifestyle values. To set yourself up by asking yourself what is next in your career? What industry aligns with where I want to be? Do they share the same values that are important to me or am I just drifting along because it is easier? What is the role I want to play and how do my skills transfer to this role? How do I want to impact this industry?

She suggests taking an energy audit, find the patterns or clues that support you with what brings you joy, how does it align with who you are being. And that having only one career is not the goal in today’s world. Seeing the many possibilities available to you is so important. There is a broken system when it comes to how resumes are received, and AI helps to filter but when you receive 1000’s there is no way to get back to every person who is applying so what is a person to do?

Tap into the “Hidden Job Market” – building a strong and vibrant network is key. If you are looking for a role, determine who you might know in that organization and if you don’t know someone make it a point to get to know the people that work there. Find out what the company is like and how they operate to determine if it is the right fit for you. Finding a job is a full -time job and requires intention.

Such a great conversation and Jenn shares so many stories and ways to support your career pivot. She also hosts her podcast “ The Flourish Careers” podcast with helpful tips and resources. Let us know your thoughts on the podcast and if you have questions please do reach out.

Adult ADHD is not new and often goes untreated especially in girls and women until much later in life, if ever. Christina Crowe joins us for a conversation to unpack Neurodiversity in all its forms and the range of differences in individual brain function and behavioral traits. Christina is a registered Psychotherapist and Valid Clinical Supervisor (OAMHP), she hosts the Christina Crowe podcast: Making the Invisible Visible and is the owner of Dig a Little Deeper, Psychotherapy and Counselling which is a modern mental health group practice with over 20 associate mental health professionals, including psychiatric nurse practitioners and graduate interns, dedicated to bringing seamless multi-model mental health care to Ontario, Canada.

In this conversation, Christina emphasizes the need to create a supportive work environment where individuals can succeed and leverage their natural strengths, whether one should disclose whether they have ADHD, and what might be the impact both positive and negative. She decided for herself that it would be in her best interest to disclose especially after spending 20 years in pharma and not realizing why she would get so bored or distracted once she had launched a product. As she began to understand what was happening to her, it enabled her to work within her strengths and design her work to keep her more fully engaged. She discusses how ADHD affects individuals differently, it's not a one-size-fits-all all, including the balance between impulsivity and creativity. There is a stigma often associated with ADHD and it's important to have the awareness of what is going on and how to leverage your strengths and to do that faster, especially with your work colleagues.

We also get into how women might experience shame, a sense of judgment, and how to make sense of what is happening. There are many people who navigate different neurodiverse issues and it is important to find the support you need to best navigate. If you or a loved one is struggling with ADHD and seeking support, ask questions and be sure to find the proper help that specializes in what you might be dealing with. Christina offers a lot of free resources on her website at digalittledeeper.ca to educate those interested in learning more. I know the information she shared with me about what adults, girls, and women might experience was super helpful in supporting my own family. Ready to make a shift from working hard to working smart? Join us for a conversation with Liz Hartke from Luminary Leadership as she shares how she has gained 20+ hours back to her schedule. She and her husband have built a wildly successful business helping entrepreneurs gain more time in their busy schedules. She grew up in a family of entrepreneurs from an early age and learned how time was seen as money but not freedom and this was not the way she wanted to experience her own work/life balance. Her mom made it to all of her activities but after getting the kids to bed at night she would often find her with her briefcase spread across the table, working to catch up on her work. She saw that her parents had flexibility but not freedom in their careers and she knew she wanted a very different life for herself and her family.

Liz shares her tips for how to make that shift by planning for growth and that there are seasons of growth. Think about it as the strategy of your life and be proactive about how you approach the big things or leverage the high-value items. Most of us live by our to-do list and as CEOs of our lives, we need to shift to being focused on the business not in the business. Think about what it’s worth to you. What are the non-negotiables? Being tied to your purpose and linking everything to that is crucial.

Two tips to get time back:

  1. Having systems in place personally and with your team such as the Leader morning checklist, removes any decision-making issues, and things that are repetitive and gives to others to complete.
  2. Usage of AI – She shares the link for her ebook for you to check out luminaryleadershipco.com/chatgpt

Great conversation Liz and thank you for joining us.

We discuss the stigma for women as it relates to menopause and other hormone-related issues. HRT (hormone replacement therapy) vs. BHRT (bio-identical hormone replacement therapy) and many natural alternatives to support overall good health. She shares the impact of low estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone in our bodies and why you have to be your own advocate as it relates to your health. Educate yourself on the many factors that will contribute to and increase health risks if you don’t have enough of these hormones.

Many symptoms are often overlooked as we just think it’s normal when we could be providing our bodies with the support we desperately need and starting this early on in our lives. For women, we can reduce the risk of dementia, heart disease, etc. by paying attention and doing regular blood work.

Optimal Bio provides a number of free resources to help you arm yourself with information about hormone replacement and symptoms. Visit their website at OptimalBio.com and download their free handbook or listen to their podcast to learn more about bio-identical hormone replacement therapies.

During covid many issues were highlighted but nothing as significant as elderly abuse which saw a 250% increase. This is unacceptable and as a society we must look at how we change the conversation. Join us as we speak with Laura Tamblyn Watts Founder and CEO of CanAge, Canada’s national senior advocacy organization.

Laura is a passionate advocate on a variety of urgent issues affecting older Canadians, including long term care and home care, financial security, elder abuse, health care, ageism, and inclusion of marginalized communities. She spent over 20 years defending the rights and dignity of older people as a lawyer and thought leader and today she is the voice on aging issues and is frequently sought after as a media commentator.

Laura shares with us her recipe to support our senior community, how to find purpose and engagement at an older age. She also highlights the importance of taking a view from how you would want to be treated upon entering senior years. She helps us navigate the difficult conversation if you suspect elder abuse and the different steps you can take in supporting someone living with abuse.

She also shares with us how ageism is impacted in the work force and what you can do about it. Organizations don’t typically look at older employees when crafting DEI policy as it usually looks at younger generations or women but ageism should always be included in those policies. This is how we start the change the narrative.

Lisa Levy also known as “The Disruption Catalyst Speaker” joins us for a conversation about embracing change and the process of resistance we often go through when faced with change. She is the Founder and CEO of LCubed Consulting, author, speaker, and disruptor. Her book Future Proofing Cubed provides a framework for the process organizations can go through to invoke change in a positive and sustainable way. During our conversation Lisa provides helpful tips and why communication is one of the biggest culprits in mishandling change. She shares examples of those leading change in a positive way and also what happens when it is done the wrong way. I love her candidness with how to approach if you find yourself in a situation where change is being handled less than because there is only one way to approach and how you might navigate those conversations.

It is important to understand with the increasing rate of change and complexities many leaders believe they must survive in a constant state of chaos. Lisa experienced this exact phenomenon firsthand when working in corporate roles, where there were too many chiefs to get a job done. Where she witnessed that change leadership and constant communication fallouts were confusing the common goals and creating more breakdowns in operations and productivity directly affecting the bottom line. She was determined to find a better way and has dedicated her life to helping savvy business leaders who want to build agility into their operating model.

Given our current economic climate and the number of layoffs that are taking place, we spoke with Jenna Bayuk, Founder of Kinship Kollective, regarding her thoughts on how companies should be approaching the layoffs and what you might do if you are caught in the crossfires of a layoff.

Jenna has over 15 years of experience working with entrepreneurs to build their businesses while ensuring they stay focused on their best-kept secret - supporting them to bring their vision to life and ensuring that being heart-focused goes beyond just the day-to-day execution.

Are you stuck in an either/or thinking pattern? Most of us are but the authors of “Both/And Thinking” share with us the extensive research they have done to shift the perspective from either/or to both/and thinking. Marianne Lewis joins us to explain how she and her co-author Wendy Smith began the study of paradoxes and both/and thinking, why it is important to apply in both our personal lives and our professional lives. They share how teams and leaders are impacted in an organization and how you shift the thinking and move people along the journey versus creating a box around them. Both/And thinking opens our eyes to be more creative, and flexible and has more impact on decisions in a world of competing demands.

Life is full of paradoxes. How do we balance work and life? How can we express our individuality and be team players? These competing and interwoven demands are the source of conflict. We deal with uncertainty by asserting certainty according to Lewis and Smith. They help readers cope and thrive with multiple, knotted tensions at the same time.  Join us on Apple, Spotify, and YouTube to listen to the full episode.
