Lifestyle Music is a UK-based Drum & Bass label rooted heavily in underground dance music. Started in 2009, the label has nurtured new talent, curated core artists and developed a signature sound within the scene. It has now expanded into promoting worldwide club events and international signings without a fault in their own policy of promoting high quality music for enthusiasts and the community.

In recent years Lifestyle and its team has grown profoundly. The ‘Connection’ series has given the label and artists the opportunity to foster relationships with Drum & Bass communities from around the world. This has lead to international tours and shows that range from Australia to mainland Europe. Without losing focus the label frequently maintains UK club nights and a residency on its home turf of Volks in Brighton.

Lifestyle is constantly pushing for the cutting-edge. Breaking new upcoming producers, sounds, and styles. ‘CULTURE’ is the latest series and addition that predominantly focuses on the melodic and experimental sounds. The labels ever growing nature has become synonymous with quality and variety while maintaining releases that regularly reach the Beatport top 10. With another ‘Connection’ LP on the horizon, events planned across Europe, and a strong presence on the UK’s South Coast Lifestyle shows no sign of slowing down.

Volatile Cycle - Arpoon by Lifestyle Music

Free Download: https://hypeddit.com/track/0q6rfj

A duo responsible for some of the biggest tracks on our label over the past couple of years, Volatile Cycle return to Lifestyle this month, showcasing their broad range of production skill with two slick cuts of modern drum & bass.

A pair we’ve been championing for a while now, VC have been consistently delivering interesting and forward-looking dance music for the label, since we first had them on-board in 2017. A duo that have become synonymous for wicked collabs, thanks largely to their ‘Volatile Cycle and Friends’ series here at Lifestyle, which has seen them cranking out bangers with some of the scenes most exciting and emergent producers.

For this release they’ve put together two very distinct tracks of dark drum & bass, drawing on a range of sounds and influences to great effect. The result is a versatile and slick release, which will hit the target for any DJ aiming to murk the dancefloor.

Arpoon is an acidy roller, an atmospheric cut with heavy sci-fi vibes. Built around a stabbing mid-range that pops and flutters its way through the tune, while rich, warm low end rolls out the monotonic bassline, all pushed ever-forward by a big, lively break.

Own You has VC teaming up once more with Bristol’s Primitive Instinct (a collab that last gave us the techy banger Gully Tuckshop), again returning deadly results; Own You is a big, fat, fuck-off slice of neurofunk heat. The beautifully cinematic intro sets the scene, but nothing can prepare ears (or feet) for when the lush melodics fall away; dropping into a perfectly crafted, minimal reese groove. Crisp sound design and excellent use of space give the track serious weight, with enough air to let the funk breathe, but enough coarse, hard tech to get your face melting. This one’s a masterclass in producing modern sounding, interesting neuro, from the fizzing basses to the insane drum programming, it’s guaranteed to switch up any set and pop it off.

and finally their freebie, Again, is the dark horse of the release, a standout track in that it marks a departure from the heavy tech sound VC have become known for. More like a deep liquid cut, this track oozes emotion and attitude, from a warm, ambient set-up, it drops into a rich, deep and rolling beat, a fuzzy filtered reese pushing the low melodic line, while a live-sounding drum break clatters and shuffles over the top. Still present is some thoughtful bass design, interjecting and adding that VC flavour to the tune, and it’s still got a dark, brooding vibe. An unusual addition to the boys catalogue no doubt, but we think you’ll agree an incredibly listenable one.

Everyone loves a banging remix, and here at Lifestyle we’re no different. Historically one of the most fun & exciting projects to put together, we’re back with the third edition of our Lifestyle Remixed series!

It’s a pretty simple recipe: we take bangers, give them to some sick producers, who turn them into further bangers; it’s sick, and the results are always fantastic. Previous editions have seen some god-tier combinations: Zero T & Revaux, Ill Truth & Lockjaw, and Signal & Vorso, to name but a few.

For this edition, we’ve plumbed our catalogue for a mixture of deep cuts and stand-out bangers, and got some of our favourite producers to break them into bits and build them back up again. The tracklist speaks for itself, but it’s got to be heard to be believed! We’ve got Wingz remixing Black Barrel, Revaux taking on dutch newcomer DOt., the mighty Black Barrel reworking the breakout banger ‘Africa’, the boy wonder himself remixing Nami’s iconic ‘Inside ft 'Lo’, Fre4knc taking on an Objectiv banger, as well as Danger’s competition-winning remix of ‘Vermin’. Bossman Animus twists up Revaux & Charli Brix’s ‘Colours’, one of our biggest tunes from 2018 getting a seriously brucked out edit, and Belgian badboys Glÿph take Nami’s ’Shake The Universe’ to truly galactic planes, wicked.

As well as all that, to celebrate ten years as a label, we’ve also reached all the way back to LFS020, and got Synth Ethics & Was A Be to team up, reworking Viscera by Ed:it - updating the banger 7.5 years after it’s initial release! Crafting it into a big, stinky stepper, beautiful stuff.

You can probably imagine the program; it’s all kept pretty dark & dangerous this time round, complex bass design leaks out all over the shop, and there’s not much relenting from start to finish, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Some of these have been doing the rounds a bit, causing absolute carnage whenever we play them out, some of them are brand spanking new, but we think you’ll agree they’re all hurters. It’s been an absolute joy to put together this release, so we hope you like hearing it as much as we’ve liked making it!

More combos than a Mortal Kombat fight, get it down ya!

Yesterday we were invited down to Flex FM by Audio Assault for a Lifestyle Music showcase, we had a little chat about what's to come from the label and followed on with a mix featuring plenty of exclusive and forthcoming tunes...

Following up 2018’s incredible Zulu EP, this month Creatures returns to Lifestyle with two cuts of polished & weighty drum & bass, bringing some mates along for the ride too.

Harvey has been making noise out of Bristol for a while now and getting some serious recognition in the scene, and deservedly, as he’s been a busy boy; this release will mark his sixth so far this year, as well as running his own label and DJing all over the shop, it’s a wonder he ever gets any sleep! But we’re glad he does, cos it means he can come out with bangers like these. On this release he’s teamed up with fellow Bristol-boy Extraction for ‘Orbit’ and returning Lifestyle favourite Bluejay lays lyrics on ‘Concept’.

Concept is a stripped back roller; opening with airy pads high up in the atmosphere, it’s brought to ground by a tight-knit, shuffled break, that then drops into a weighty minimal piece of dance music. The bassline is a warping, single note modulation, which has tonnes of mid-range character. Bluejay spits an understated verse on top, before dropping out, being replaced by mid-range bass movements that riff expertly on top of the low end. A refined, moody minimal roller, this one’s got a mature sound, but packs a weighty punch that’ll keep the crowd bouncing.

Orbit is the more dancefloor-oriented of the two, again opening nice and tense, heavy sci-fi vibes with techy bleeps and big lush ambience. A big, knocking tech break kicks in to start the show, setting the mood as the heavily syncopated rhythms form the backbone of the track. When it drops it’s a pounding, subby affair. The bassline is a pulsing sub stab rhythm, that locks into the kick pattern and gives the track huge low-end power. As it progresses through, mid-range stabs and sweeps riff in and out of the space, reverberating on top of the break, and crisp high-end detail fizzes and builds towards the breakdown. The boys’ production really comes into it’s own with the perfectly crafted. deep ambient textures they create in the breakdown too, which is a wicked juxtaposition to the big, beefy main sections. Heavily danceable, and beautifully listenable, this one’s some of the best output we’ve heard from Harvey so far.

A very strong release from someone so fresh to the game, at just 22 Creatures is proving himself to be a real player and one of the best emerging talents from the UK scene at the minute. An absolutely essential release for anyone who likes their drum & bass with a dark, sci-fi tilt. Get it while it’s hot!

We are very pleased to announce CULT005, brought to you from one of the underground’s finest, Imprint. Coming out of Leeds, he’s been knocking about the scene for a bit now, building a rep for slick, modern jungle cuts, and deep, interesting rhythms. His sonic experimentation has seen his output range from the most minimal dnb, to tearout jungle, and even birthed a seriously naughty 140 / breaks EP earlier this year, which is definitely worth checking out if you haven’t copped yet!

Imprint last graced our label on Future Vol.1 with ‘Respect’, an amen-heavy, no-holds-barred modern jungle banger, but this release sees him let loose with three precise, weighty tracks. All distinctly different, yet tied together by a thread of intricate drum work and heavy atmospherics. Big, bold breaks are intercut with complex tech drums for maximum effect, and huge, spacious basses fill out the low end perfectly. One for the deeper dnb and jungle heads, this diverse EP will cause damage whether in a deep tech set, jungle sesh or dancefloor rampage.

We are stoked to announce the return of a couple of Lifestyle veterans to the catalogue, Bristol boys Ill Truth have served up another piping hot serving of drum & bass for you lot to get stuck into. Few may know this, but Jay and Haden’s debut release as Ill Truth actually came out on our label.. Almost three years ago they touched down with Hivemind // The Realist and started their journey as the duo, and what a trajectory!

Producing out of Bristol, their music has sent them worldwide, and they’ve become of the most important & current acts in their city’s scene. With releases spanning some of dnb’s most seminal labels such as Shogun & Dispatch, and a recent stellar release on CIA, it’s hard to find a corner of the scene as yet untouched by these two incredibly hard-working producer DJs.

Which is why we couldn’t be happier that they’ve hit us up with the fire, their first original release with the label since last summer’s collab on Creatures debut EP! Two slices of rowdy, bassy dancefloor music, with the unmistakable Ill Truth sound. They’ve taking it all the way back to their roots with a VIP of The Realist off their first ever release, so this is a special one for the label and for the boys. Get it down ya.

‘Eazy Rider’ sees the boys team up with Bluejay for a heavy cut of deep tech. Built around a driving, snappy break, the tune foregrounds a slick and minimal bass groove, with mid-range wobbles and accents peppered throughout. A mature sound from the lads, this one sits nicely between heavy dancefloor music and head-nodding minimal dnb.

The Realist VIP is a different story, an absolute shoe thrower of a tune. Originally a moody half-time track, the VIP absolutely flips it on it’s head, crafting it into a big, stinky, rave tune. Subtlety is thrown out the window, and instead you get hit with funked-out, beautifully constructed reese riffs, delivered via a big, banging break. Insanely danceable and super-catchy, this ones built for robust trainers and telling strangers in the dance to fuck off.

Next up on Lifestyle we continue the Generations series in full force! We’ve been busy searching out strictly dancefloor music with that ‘special something’. Kumarachi has been sending us heat for a bit and we are super pleased to have him as the next producer representing our new imprint. Teaming up with our very own MC Haribo, this release will leave ya ears ringing and ya head spinning.

Straight in with ‘Deep', a big, fathomless roller. Drawing you in with sweeping pads, backed up by a thumping kick and poppy snare pushing the rhythm forward. MC Haribo comes in to build the track to it’s ultimatum, which delivers in earnest. With jungle overtones and deep, dark moody synth stabs, you can tell this truly has that extra something. Full banger.

‘Microdot’ is the next trip Kumarachi is taking us on, with moving ambience that makes you feel like you’re banging through a forest at high velocity, delayed effects bounce around a vocal build up. Then you’re taken to an entirely new dimension as you’re thrown in the deep end, led by splashy high end and wide, chugging bass. Some expert sound design inside! This one is sure to cause damage in the dance.

Next, we’re whipped into ‘Searching’, with an equally as spacey intro as the last. Bitcrushed effects and synth stabs build you up to the drop, which switches into sweeping and gritty bass riffs as powerful drums push the groove onward. This one’s for the heads.

As we close in to the end of the EP we’re given ‘Closer.’ Something to release the tension, we’re drawn in by a melancholic pad driven by a shuffling drum beat. Breaking into rolling beats and tumbling bass that brings you into a state of alert; you’re trespassing! The alarm rings out for the second drop, something dark here.

We’ve had great fun working with these guys, and couldn't be more pleased with this release. Generations is a bold step in a new direction for us, and we are having a wicked time expanding the Lifestyle sound. There’s a lot more in store, but this’ll be in stores sooner, get it while it's hot!

Back on that collab business, the boys in VC are once again skimming the delicious cream off the top of the dnb scene, and bringing you a tasty release of hard-hitting partnerships, featuring some new alliances, as well as some stellar remixes of previous tunes.

The first two in the series saw some massive meetings of producer talents, with the lads teaming up with Wingz, Kyrist, Vowel, Philth, and many other big and emerging names in the scene.

Vol. 3 is no different, be it the maxxed out neuro banger of 'Vobelord' with ABIS, or the slick, rolling sounds of 'Gully Tuckshop' with Primitive Instinct; the unique styles that emerge when two creative forces come together is undeniable. This release also sees them go head to head with the mighty Cruk on 'Bindipper', which as the name suggests is an absolute stinker! Philth returns again as a collaborator on 'Flags', a moody cut of deep, 4am tech.

On remix duties, this release just gets silly. Kyrist puts her spin on the VC & Vowel track 'Dispersed', and takes it to a very dark, very nasty place. Creatures then steps in by reworking her collab 'Rolex' into a big, steppy slice of techy drum and bass. Two producers who continue to make a serious impact on the scene coming together, it was never gunna be anything less than absolutely ridiculous, and these tracks don't disappoint!

This series continues to show the power of producers putting their brains & laptops together, as well as presenting a cross-section of the stupidly good talent overflowing from the scene at the minute! Not one to be missed for sure, this series is an essential arsenal of mental tunes for any dnb dj.

The latest offering from our label series Culture comes from the international man of mystery Lao Wai. Originally from Manchester, now residing in Bologna, Italy after living in Xi'an in China, Lao Wai ('foreigner' in Chinese) has been knocking about the underground for a bit, releasing some quality tunes (including a severely potent cut with our boys at The Dreamers), and getting picked up for UKF's "18 to watch in '18" last year! Now he's back for 2019 with three servings of piping hot drum & bass for Culture.

'2U' is a genre-bender; sitting somewhere between a moody liquid stepper, and something much more techier and funkier, this tracks rolls out heavily, built by big sub stabs over a lovely little tech break. It has heaps of character, and is sure to stick out in any set, some lovely sampling on the hook complete the vibe perfectly.

Next up 'Drip' has a much darker and more minimal feel; introduced with some big, scary atmospheres and sampling, it drops into a minimal steppy track, with careful and unique sound design. Mids and bass expertly drift across the track, coming into being and then decaying in super interesting ways, creating a truly remarkable sonic field that develops as the track progresses. Plenty of weight behind this one, perfect for those deep, dark, minimal sets, very much a serious dnb tune.

'GoBYND' comes forward with a lighter vibe, liquid undertones in the intro backed up with ambience and signature vocal cuts. It blasts into a laid back minimal roller with some masterful hi hat rhythms and deep groovy bass. The track switches into a more staggered pace, vocal splicer delight! It's a perfect way to kick start a warm up set or listened to while lounging in the sun.

Lao Wai shows his scope of production skills with these three very different tracks; one a much more dancier take, one for the minimal heads and a liquid roller all of which contain exceptional quality and are super unique.

Halflow - Relentless Funk/Halflow and Screamarts - Space Gang out now: https://www.beatport.com/release/relentless-funk-space-gang/2580368

Fresh out of Austria we present to you young newcomer Halflow, who has put out some serious heat in the form of Relentless Funk and Space Gang with Screamarts.

Niki has pieced together this minimix to celebrate his debut release, and what a debut. This is his first ever release in Drum & Bass and I think the quality speaks for itself, this guy is one to watch!

Continuing our favourite habit of breaking new artists, next up on Lifestyle Music comes a couple of tracks from Austrian newcomer Halflow. We first focused our ears on Niki after he sent a few links over through our demo platform, and stalking his soundcloud revealed some seriously promising talent! Hailing from the same town as Mefjus, where there's clearly something in the water, Halflow has some mid-range & bass techniques that are reminiscent of the neuro wizard himself, and come out swinging on this release. We are stoked to put out his debut release into the ether, and have already seen the reaction on the dancefloor. A young lad with a promising future in the scene, make sure to catch him here on Lifestyle first!

First up is Relentless Funk, a track built around a driving organic-sounding drum break. A long intro builds the tension before the drop brings the heat with a simple but effective filtered bassline, the envelope slowly opening to form the main hook. A powerful moving sub provides the weight of the tune, and combines raw, somewhat old school drum sounds with modern bass & mid sound design flawlessly. The name is fitting as the funk keeps bringing it, a perfect mid-set kinda track to keep the energy high and moving in the room.

Halflow teams up with fellow Austrian Screamarts (who recently featured on our free download series) for the flip, Space Gang. This one sets the tone slightly darker, tenser. A more atmospheric and Sci-Fi sounding intro kick it off, before dropping into a much bouncier neurofunk stepper. Complex sound design is executed perfectly, with warping reeses and super crisp tops and mids, all slotting together superbly above a powerful sub. Very much a dancefloor track, the bass rhythms are guaranteed to move any crowd, especially on the second drop when it's kicked up a notch with some super heavy bass stabs and rhythms. Absolute weapon for your sets and sure to cause carnage, this collab between these two young Austrians doesn't disappoint!

A very strong debut release from Halflow that's sure to turn some heads in the scene, and no doubt the start of something very special!

After months of teasers, the cats finally out the bag with this one!

Lifestyle Music is extremely happy to present Generations, a further step for our label into the wide world of global drum and bass. Generations is a new label series, and represents us diversifying our roster by showcasing interesting dancefloor music that draws on all strains of dnb. We will be pulling together our old influences for this series, maintaining Lifestyle sound but toasting our roots with Jungle/Jump Up values.

While this is bound to piss off some fans online, anyone who clubs or djs on the regs knows the power of some well-placed wobblers in a set, and it's an area of the scene we are yet to probe for bangers. If ya really not sold after this first release don't worry, we've still got plenty of quality coming out this later this year...

If you love dancing to music, the first release from Seattle's Klippee has got you covered, four premium cuts of agginess sure to set off any dance, we're starting as we mean to go on with some HD wobbling. Featuring a must-have collab with our new signing Combine, this release is certain to ruffle some feathers and move some feet. We're keen to see the series grow in its own right this year and already have some killer releases locked down, and got our eyes peeled for more weird and wonderful sounds.

Not one to be missed, make sure to pick up the flagship release of our new series Generations, and keep eyes and ears peeled for more news and sounds in the coming months.

Tucked up in the north-west corner of mainland Europe, sharing borders with Latvia, Russia & The freezing Baltic Sea, Estonia is a country known for historic cities, beautiful natural environments, and incredible forward-thinking drum & bass. Alright we might have been exaggerating with that last one, but after this release you never know..

The latest edition of our global drum & bass series sees us aim our sights on Estonia, a country you nearly definitely can’t point to on a map unless you’ve been there already. But despite it’s small land-mass, we are happy to announce it has a thriving scene producing some top draw music. For this release we enlisted the help of Mean Teeth to hook us up with some of the most exciting producers their country has to offer.

On the Estonian Connection you’ll hear from a cohort of sick Estonian producers, and a wide variety of sounds, mainly focused around the dark & heavy end of the spectrum. These ten tracks offer a glimpse into the scene over there; from AJ Mutated’s ‘Catastrafox’, a driving, bass-heavy slice of neuro-tech or Mean Teeth’s offering ‘Fear Is In You’, a big ol’ boom-bap neurofunk cut, all the way to Majestim’s dark liquid roller ‘Tantrum’. There’s a lot of different sounds and shapes inside, including some moody half-time courtesy of Cald, all produced to an extremely high quality.

Continuing the tradition, we’re heading out to celebrate this release with a show in Tartu on the 15th March. Hopefully we’ll be coming away with some more Estonian mates, some more Estonian tunes, and probably a gnarly hangover; another successful mission!

Continuing the tradition, we’re heading out to celebrate this release with a show in Tartu on the 15th March. Hopefully we’ll be coming away with some more Estonian mates, some more Estonian tunes, and probably a gnarly hangover; another successful mission!

Next up on Lifestyle we celebrate our past year of releases, and give a sneaky look into the future of the label; it’s the Lifestyle Annual 2018!

This Annual marks an important moment in the life of the label; for the past couple of months we've had our heads down, thinking about what's important to us here at HQ and how to revise our look a bit. This has resulted in a fresh approach to our brand and a more refined visual style moving forward into 2019, we are very excited about it and can't wait to show you what's in store!

We’ve knocked our heads together and picked out 16 choice cuts of prime Lifestyle material from the past year, tunes that have stood out to each of us as the finest our label had to offer in 2018. We tried to keep it reasonably varied, but didn’t do so well, so expect a heavy concentration of that deep dark tech inside, as well as a splattering of other distinct sounds.

While we have got some of the Lifestyle ‘anthem’ tunes in there, we’ve also been careful to include some for the real heads, tunes that some might have missed first time round, that we reckon deserve excavating and rinsing out.

As if this wasn’t enough, we’ve also thrown in 10 brand-new tracks, featuring some very close connections! A lot of these tracks are from new voices we’ve just started listening to in the scene, and to make it extra personal, four of the ten tracks come from the team here at the label! Mandie, Jamie, Jono & Mersen (+ Ken) dug in and came out with some tracks of their own for the release, including the first ever release for Combine with ‘Retrograde’, a super-vibey deep liquid banger. This exclusively personal touch is the cream on the cake of this release, which itself crowns what was the best year for our label yet.

We hope you enjoy this release as much as we enjoyed putting it together. We’re deeply indebted to all the artists we’ve worked with over the past year and beyond, without them making the tunes, and you lot buying the tunes, this label would be nothing, so we’re forever grateful for all your support in 2018, and hope we do you proud this year. We’ve got some big plans in the pipeline that we can’t wait to let you all know about, so make sure to stay connected and informed! From all us here at the team a massive thank you & infinite bigups, here’s to another huge year.

Lifestyle Music is primed for 2019, we’re back on the business of pushing some lesser-known artists to the foreground, with some ultra-fresh sounds.

Our latest release comes from the dutch producer DOt. who shone on the first edition of our Future VA last year with a track entitled ‘Hoisin’ that picked up support on Noisia radio and spread through the scene like a bad rash. He followed this up 3 months ago with one for our free download series, a seriously vibey number entitled ‘Lunacy’, and now he’s back with his first single for our label. One to watch in 2019 for sure, this young artist already has a lot of very solid tunes under his belt, and some big plans for this year, so get ahead of the game and make sure to check these out!

A-side ‘Unknown Lifeforms’ is a beautifully crafted slice of minimal drum & bass, with an ominous fizzing bassline flexing underneath a perfectly snappy break. Warping, acid-y synth stabs make up the hook of the tune, with reverberant spaces cutting in and out alongside them, creating a really engaging atmosphere. Things are kept very stripped-back in this one, all the drums and percussion are heavily staccato and punch through flawlessly, one of those less-is-more kinda tracks, seriously heavy vibes.

The flip ‘Projections’ takes the energy upwards, with the filtered break in the intro an indication of the change in gear. Still very much a dark, moody tune, but this one with a much more melodic bassline, and reliant heavily upon a crunchy, saturated breakbeat. More dark liquid than tech, this is some of that real stare-at-your-feet music, perfect for both the middle of the rave and the headphones on the train home. Making a beautiful contrast with the first track, it’s wicked to hear DOt. put his production talents to something a little bit melodic, a little bit vibey, as well as the minimal tech.

Another excellent release from one of the most exciting new producer’s around at the minute, displaying a bit more breadth in his production, while still retaining a consistent and interesting sound. A versatile release that would fit snugly into most DJs arsenal, go check this one out !

Introducing the long-awaited third instalment from our label series, Culture, where we take a step away from the tech & neuro to feature exciting sounds from the full spectrum of drum & bass.

CULT003 comes from the hands of Constrict, an upcoming producer who’s had a belter of a year, releasing a cracking EP with our mates at Context Audio, and collaborating with Koherent on their Dispatch release. The Anywhere EP is a wicked cross-section of Connor’s skills, with a varied sound showing of the strength and range of his production talents.

The title track Anywhere is a seriously vibed-out liquid roller, with lovely keys, warm bass and a perfectly executed vocal sample leading the track into it’s thumpy, somewhat minimal drop. A spacious bassline mirroring the keys makes up the theme of the track, while a lovely, snappy break drives the track along. The second drop switches it up, taking the sound into darker realms with some warping reeses, and a much fuller, thumping bassline. Each drop could fit effectively into two completely different sets, yet the track retains an impressive congruency, a truly versatile track.

Next up, Labyrinth, couldn’t be a different affair. Right from 0:00 you know the tones changed, with granular, eery atmosphere and percussion setting the scene for the tune. what follows is a thumping, syncopated stepper, with buckets of attitude. Starting reasonably minimal, with a driving break on top of a sub-heavy, warping bassline, the track turns up the heat with techy percussion, vocal stabs, and even more atmosphere. The beautifully crafted drum breaks and rhythms are the backbone of this tune, holding the ear and moving the feet all the way through. Even get a nice boom-bap section at the end to nod your head to, quality.

Continuing the trajectory of the release, the final track Kawachi takes it even darker, even deeper, and even more minimal to round out the EP. One for the deep drum & bass heads, an abrasive half-time beat introduces the track, which is joined by a colossal sub, subtly moving around underneath. Once again the percussion picks up the rhythm, accenting the variations as the track stomps its way along. In the second section a filtered breakbeat is added in, giving it heavy Samurai-vibes. Proper, proper hoodie music, it really doesn’t get much darker than this.

You know we had to do it…

Probably one of the most important, if not THE most important release our label has ever done, The Australian Connection set a mission and set the scene for us moving forward. We got abroad, got a bunch of sick producers and a bunch of sweet tunes, played out, made some mates, and realised that it was pretty cool to use our label to shine a light on national scenes worldwide.

Following this series was The Belgian Connection, another wicked outing for us and another set of nutty tunes, and we’ve got some cool shit in the pipeline for next year too, that should see us racking up the air miles and in-flight pints, and make us some more mates around the globe too.

But enough of that, back to the present, and we’re bringing it home, completing the Australian leg of our endless mission to mine the scene for the best new producers, by getting the tunes from our Ozzy mates, and giving them to our UK mates to have a pop at.

The results, unsurprisingly, speak for themselves; what was already one of our favourite releases gets a makeover, and comes out looking even better than before. Just cop the tracklist and you know it’s gunna be a big one; Klax puts the twist on Lockjaw’s ‘Cells’, Terrence & Phillip get the deep tech treatment at the hands of Objectiv & Klinical, Data 3 mangle Gran Calavera’s neuro-banger ‘Panorama’, and that’s just the start of it. The whole release positively oozes style and stamina, and it’s been great to hear how each producer stamped their unique sound on some already fantastic tracks, this was a super-fun release to oversee, and the finished product will be on rotation for years to come, definitely not one to miss!
