Hello! We're Safia and Sabrina; two sisters from Malaysia. We aim to provide a Malaysian millennial perspective on topics and issues that we care about.
Since Queen of Air & Darkness is releasing TOMORROW(!!), we decided to throw a recap party and discuss our favorite characters, couples and scenes from Lady Midnight and Lord of Shadows. Meet Rachel Priya, a self-proclaimed pun artist and Tammy Selvam, a Chemistry lecturer. In this episode, we explore the Indian woman's perspective on growing up Malaysian, racism and dealing with the racial quota.
Safia is on a self-imposed makeup ban but one night, she found herself breaking her ban when she placed a Sephora order online. Ridden with shame which eventually led to a moment of realization; she questioned why she loves makeup so much, why she's wearing them and wonders whether people wear make up for the same reasons as her.
Enter Jun, who loves makeup but stopped wearing them. And Ray, who basically just wants to be on the podcast and hopes to bring a male perspective on the whole matter. Hilarity ensues.
In this week's episode, we sat down with Sue Lynn and Jayne Lee--two friends who compare their experiences on what it means to be a Chinese woman in Malaysia.
It is not often that we hear stories from the perspective of someone who just left their stable job in order to pursue their dreams. Usually we hear these stories from those who have "made it" which fail to capture the moments leading up to the decision and the reality of living with the decision during the early stages of the business.
So we decided to change the narrative and interview Shaza Lina, a young Malaysian who recently left her corporate job in order to pursue her passion. This is a success story in the making. We hope you enjoy this episode.

About Our Guests: Bavani holds a Bsc in Biotechnology from Rutgers University and is now a Phd candidate at Universiti Malaya. This anak Malaysia believes that the greatest investment in life would be education so upon graduation, she signed up to teach at a high need school in Seberang Perai.
Next, meet Zhi Xiong Chong! With a MEng in Materials with Nuclear Engineering from Imperial College London, this anak Malaysia went on to teach at a Puchong public school for two years. His experience led him to co-found Chumbaka, an organization that believes in making children addicted to learning!
