This podcast tells the story of the life of Herbert Mendelson. Herb was born in 1933 in the Dexter-Cortland Jewish ghetto of Detroit, in 1933, and overcame a childhood of poverty and hardship to build a successful career as an orthopedic surgeon and a legacy as a father, husband, and person who has dedicated his life to providing and caring for his family and for those in need.

In the final episode of The Herb Mendelson Story, Herb's granddaughter, Hannah Levine, revisits the most important and meaningful moments and people in Herb's life. We hear from Herb's children and other relatives and many friends about what made Herb special and about how much they miss him since his passing two years ago.

Faced with an unsettled family life and constant financial stress, Herb develops an incredible work ethic, discovers a love and aptitude for all things mechanical, begins dating his wife-to-be, Phyllis, and as a muscular, powerfully built young man earns a reputation as a guy nobody wanted to mess with.
