I just received my copy of the book Battle Cry written by Jason Wilson.
His book can be summarized as lessons men can be mindful of to master their emotions and express them with self-control. How I discovered him (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDnCnxCOPHA) I haven't read all of it yet, but it led me to thinking about if fathers do a good job of mastering their emotions and what those close to feel about it.

My regular Wednesday night Chats with Dads was a solo show but I did have a call in---a previous guest.
I wanted to get some thoughts off my chest about my daughter entering high school.
I started the show off by sharing a conversation I had with my kid. I followed it up with an example of a People Court episode I watched of a young 20 year old girl making a bad decision. And finished with things that concern me as I get ready for my child to start high school.

Cassie Cooke shared her journey with me of how she put in the work to make her dream a reality...only to have it go up in a cloud of smoke.
Coming out of high school in Maryland, Cooke, a 5-9 guard, was a four-year letter winner from Winters Mill High School in Westminster, Md. She posted 1,082 points, 564 rebounds, 473 assists and 336 steals in her high school career. Cooke was also a two-sport star and was named the Carroll County Girl's Soccer Player of the Year in her final two seasons while also receiving three All-Carroll County nods and two Baltimore Sun All-Met honors. She was named to the All-State team in her senior year in soccer after posting 19 goals and nine assists for 47 points.
Her journey after high school took her to Mount St Mary's University and finishing at a university in Canada and eventually led to a professional contract! She never got to play a minute professionally.
However, her love for the sport remains and she is seizing on opportunities to stay near the sport she loves while inspiring others to chase their dreams.
