CS Lewis' The Abolition of Man is in the top 10 of the National Review's Most Influential Books of the 20th Century list. What makes this book so important? Only that in 1943 CS Lewis predicted the current state of our Western Culture as a result of an obsession with feelings over Reason.

Much of life is full of mysteries that can be boiled down to Life, Death, Knowledge, Good and Evil. The Old Testament addresses all of these issues and leaves one feeling wanting for resolution. Enter then the New Testament. What we find now is that foundational human longing and questions can be resolved in Jesus Christ. We must read the Old Testament in light of the New Testament in order to get the fullest understanding possible.

In this episode, Caleb looks at one person’s view of a philosophy of history and contrasts it with CS Lewis’s Poison of Subjectivism essay and his emphasis on an objective standard that is necessary for making sense out of the word. The essay examined, written by Arthur Lovejoy, also deals with some of the early concepts regarding evolution and German nationalism that eventually came to fruition in World War I in World War II.

Lewis continues in his essay called the Poison of Subjectivism by bringing up arguments that try to reduce the reality of a universal objective moral law to a frame of living that allows one to ignore some morals but emphasize others to their own benefit. Awe are surrounded by masses of information on a daily basis. News, social media, TV, push notifications and on and on. What we need now is not really more information we need insight into what to make of all the information we have.

Sometimes God speaks to you in your inner heart. This is micro communication. In Isaiah 24 God speaks to the whole of the earth on a macro level. Getting a bird's eye view of what God's plan is for the human race is vital to understanding the world around us today. We no longer live in a micro-environment, we live today in a macro-environment of complicated economics and world politics.

The opening phrase of the Bible is “In the beginning God…” We must cultivate a way of thinking that always begins with God and his understanding and ways of doing things. The only other option is to begin with self, and we can never fully trust self.
The Enlightenment is something we are still living with today. Enlightenment thinking is a shaky foundation for basing your worldview on. This episode of the Constructionist Podcast examines the principle of analogy and the danger of using this to examine truth.

From a dirty, smelly, cold, dark prison and chained to the walls Paul is writing to his friends about love. This should be a challenge to each of us for our own prayer lives to have the same affections for fellow Christians as Jesus does.
Paul wrote Philippians from the depths of a Roman prison, cold, hungry, chained up and yet joyful. The book of Philippians gives us insight into how God can fill our mind with peace and joy in the midst of an environment of suffering.
Every human being on earth has in their mind presuppositions, and they don’t even know it. As believers we need to learn to identify them, be humble and prayerful, and conform to the perfect will of God.
Every believer will have a time when they wonder what God wants from them. Especially when they’re young and they have their whole life ahead of them. In this episode Caleb will give some personal testimony about how the Lord has led him in his own life, taking into account that God has a specific will and a general will as seen in the Scriptures.
Learning to interpret the Bible is a vital skill in our walk with the Lord. The Bible was written a long time ago and in a different culture and country than our own. The Bible is filled with word pictures. One of them is bread. In the episode Caleb points out that what we ingest both physically and mentally will affect our overall health.
Every human life goes from the womb to the grave and God sees it all. We must learn to recognize that God is a personal God, and that we can pursue him as he has pursued us and given salvation and life and peace. Meditate on Psalm 71.
