How do you measure the success of your book launch campaign? In this episode, I share some typical metrics and introduce a few metrics you may not have considered. Some typical metrics are: book sales, Amazon reviews, media placements, and social media sharing. But I ask you to consider the metrics of interaction, inspiration, and joy.
When you feel let down or notice that your momentum is slowing, what can you do? On today’s episode, I share about my experience this week, sustaining energy for your book marketing over the long-term, and ideas for authors to use to create momentum after the spike of launch day.
On this episode, I share about my team’s surprise launch party and about evaluating your traction on Amazon, especially related to reviews and sales rank. I give some insights about what your sales rank means, what you can expect, and the importance of understanding that your sales rank on Amazon does not give you a complete picture of how your book is doing. I cite recent examples like Susan Cain’s NYT bestseller, Bittersweet and Whitney Johnson’s USA Today/WSJ Bestseller Smart Growth.
On today’s episode, I’m sharing all the activities and emotions of launch, including the value/purpose of a wire press release, the purpose of a virtual launch event, and what else to expect on your launch day when you’re promoting a book. One of the most important things an author can do on launch day is to ask people to buy their book. As an action step today, I encourage you to find another author’s work to amplify and to join a launch team to experience a launch in advance of your own.
