Recently Jan Morris died at the age of 94 after living a remarkable life both as a man and a woman. I would like to think of her as a role model for me and many others who are not happy being consigned to one or other gender by a  narrow minded society. 

Jan made her transition when attitudes were more rigid than they are now and overcame prejudice and incomprehension by gentle good humour and being very good at what she did, which included writing around 40 bestselling books which inspire warmth and love from her readers. 

She will be sorely missed.
