Dealing with Triggers from your Ex 05:08 - The main topic of this podcast is dealing with triggers from your ex. Duane covers some of the common triggers people experience early on such as seeing a similar vehicle, hearing a certain song, or even locations. Although these experiences are painful they do tend to go away with time. He does share an issue that he does still deal with and that is when children are the target of emotional abuse.
Finding ways to help your children 08:45 - You have to be very cautious what you say to your children especially if they are minors. When you have minor children it is much better to have a professional therapist who understands high conflict toxic people and cluster b personality disorders. You have to be very careful how you interact with your children and what you say. At the end of the day they have to realize on their own what they need to do. We can not make the decisions for them.
Keep things simple and don’t complicate your life 18:36 - One of the key things you have to recognize is keeping your environment calm and stable. Although this is a very simple concept it is much more difficult to put into practice. This is very important though because it can significantly help mitigation a lot of the provocations your ex will inevitable try to do to complicate and stressful your life
