It is really difficult to think about being at that stage when you are starting out but it is important to think and know this can be a positive event for change.

Catching People Early 03:07 - One of the really import ways to help is to catch a person when they are early in this process. One of the reason Duane was able to do as well in his divorce is that he understand fundamentally how toxic a divorce can be. That knowledge enabled him to make decisions and take steps to ensure his relationship with his children wasn’t completely destroyed. That is one of the huge ways he believes he has helped.

Dr. Carlos from CNN Documentary 04:33 - In the recent CNN Documentary Lisa Ling interview Dr. Carlos who’s story is very common. He went through a divorce, agreed to support at the hight of his career, and then everything fell apart. He has spent a handful of times in jail now from arrears and has now completely lost his medical practice. Even with loosing everything and being estranged from his children he is doing his best to try and make a positive difference and to help others going through similar experiences

So what can you do to help 08:15 - There are many ways you can help. But Duane offers the opinion that if you feel you have to walk away and focus on your own life that is okay and you should not feel guilt for making that decision. He does ask that you remain available to others so that you might be that one-on-one lifeline for someone else going through this. There are others who remain connected with their support communities to provide an example and extra support for others. Bottom line there are may different ways to offer help and you have to find what is right for you.

No being alone 11:13 - No matter what way you decide to help being able to show another person who is going through this that they are not alone is key. One of the most difficult aspects of these experiences is the isolation you feel. Having a life-line with another person who truly understands is very critical.
