“All you have to do is pay attention: lessons always arrive when you are ready.” ~ Paulo Coelho

Guest Introduction: Thank you for being here, friend, and welcome to Exploring the Seasons of Life, a podcast for women with a big heart on a spiritual journey. I'm your host Cindy MacMillan.

Do you ever feel like you're waiting on a permission slip to live the life you want? If you answered yes, then you're in the right place. Each week I interview coaches and spiritual explorers, from all walks of life about beginnings, endings and the messy bits in between. Self-love well-being and mindset are at the heart of our conversations. Because once you change the inside, the outside will begin to change as well.

It's really a gift to sit down and talk with people who are willing to share their wisdom.

Corbie Mitleid knows the value of the Examined Life. Through divorce, abuse, poverty and life-threatening illness, she found meeting challenges and asking the next question meant facing each situation with strength, courage and humor. Today, she’s an intuitive consultant and teacher, with a career spanning the globe and clients worldwide.

Here’s a glimpse of our conversation: Hi, Corbie. Thanks so much for joining me today.

1:37 There's an old saying, “What doesn't change, dies”. I am now 66 and to me, who I have grown to be, because I've experienced the three bouts of breast cancer, the two divorces, the crazy changing career, it means that at this point, I have more to pass on. I'm actually in the middle of writing a book with the person that I consider the most incandescent student I've ever known. She's going to be a brilliant consultant when she's in her 20s. But the book is Elder and Apprentice. She's my apprentice, but I am the elder and it's time for me to pass on my knowledge.

5:00 All right, intuitive consultant is the cocktail dress version of psychic medium.

8:57 But when you sit down with me, the first thing I'm going to say to you is what is the most important thing you want to get out of here knowing today because I have a huge number of talents and you have a massive life. And no matter how fast I go in a half an hour if what you really want is how to handle your youngest child and I didn't get there you're gonna go she was terrible. She didn't know anything. So, you tell me where you want to go, and that's where I direct myself first.

23:17 You have to be ready to hear what we're going to say. Don't ask what you don't want to hear about.

28:25 It's based on clarity. You need to get clear on the most important stuff in your life. That means clarity on your purpose, “What are you doing here”? What are you gonna tell God you got to do when you get back upstairs? Clarity in your relationships, and clarity with spirit. Because that's really life. It's the everyday practicalities; it's the people in our lives and it's the numinous that created all of us.
