LM, Episode 1180, 3/13/23, 116, 3/10/20, Daylight Savings Time, thanks Germany

I’m sorry I missed yesterday. I guess the older I get, the more difficult it is for me to adjust to changing to Daylight Savings Time.

My Grandma Rowan refused to participate in daylight savings time because she’s say, “The cows want to be milked at the same time regardless of what those hoodlums in Washington thought.” Instead of changing time, like Arizona, she changed time zones and everyone in the family had to adjust to her.

Speaking of Arizona, before the pandemic, Twyla and I would go to Arizona to the Kansas City Royals’ Spring Training and we’d plan it around the weekend of Daylight Savings Time because Arizona didn’t change time, we’d not lose the hour until we returned to Kansas City.

Whoever invented Daylight Savings Time obviously never tried putting elementary school children to bed at 8.30 when it’s still daylight outside. And it always happened during the last two months of school when all of us were tired of the school routine.

Well, like so many evil things in the world, daylight savings time was a German invention. During WWI Germany went to daylight savings time to save fuel and the rest of the world quickly adopted it. I have never been in the military, but I would suspect it would be considered rude to be late for a battle. If you’ve agreed to kill each other, the least you could do is be punctual.
