The Encouragement Engineering podcast offers listeners the ability to combat the negativity that inundates our daily lives with a positive perspective and positive actions. Our guest today is Rob Kenney

After his father left him and his seven siblings at the age of 14, Rob always wished he had someone to teach him the basics— how to tie a tie, jump-start a car, unclog a drain, use tools properly—as well as succeed in life. But he and his siblings had to figure these things out on their own.

Now a father himself, Rob decided that he would help people out by providing how-to tips, along with practical life advice and the occasional dad joke. He created his YouTube channel, Dad, How Do I in March 2020 and over the past year has amassed over 3 million followers. Now, Rob has put those valuable life lessons and practical guides into a book that’s part memoir/part DIY/part inspiration. Among some of the practical DIY instructions (which are accompanied by helpful line drawings) are:

  • How to Iron a Shirt
  • How to Repair a Hole in the Wall
  • How to Mow the Lawn
  • How to Organize Your Bills
  • How to Invest
  • How to not be so hard on yourself

One of the most inspiring stories to come out of the pandemic, Rob’s insights on life, parenting and faith bring about a great memoir with useful advice that will sure be a hit come Father’s Day. Already a viral success story, Rob has been featured in outlets such as TODAY, Good Morning America, NPR, Tamron Hall, Inside Edition and NBC News.
