In the very first episode of the brand new Female Athlete Podcast, we take you back to basics around what is considered to be a 'normal' menstrual cycle and explain why understanding your cycle is important for all women.

We talk about the importance of nutrition in managing your symptoms and hear from co-host Georgie Bruinvels on the work she is doing with Chelsea Women's FC, the very first football club in the world to tailor their training programmes around the players' menstrual cycles.

We'll hear from female Olympians, world record holders, a World Cup winner and a World Champion about how their menstrual cycle affects their bodies, mentality, training and performance.

We're going to have a dedicated question time at the end of each episode going forwards so if you have any questions please contact us on Twitter @female_pod or Instagram @femaleathletepodcast or email us your questions at femaleathletepodcast@gmail.com. Please don't be shy, your question can be anonymous if you wish. We would love to hear from you.
