Who are the people and voices influencing your life—and are they leading you toward wisdom or away from it? Proverbs 13:20 reminds us that “whoever walks with the wise becomes wise,” challenging us to take a closer look at the relationships, influences, and environments shaping us.

This message explores how Proverbs calls us to respond wisely to the wicked, our enemies, and fools, while also challenging us to examine our own hearts. True wisdom includes surrounding ourselves with people who will speak truth, sharpen us, and point us toward God. And ultimately, we find the perfect friend in Jesus, who knows us completely and never leaves us.

How do we make decisions that are not just wise by the world’s standards, but aligned with God’s will? In Proverbs, we find a clear picture of biblical wisdom: trusting God, seeking His direction, and allowing His Word to guide our choices.

In this message, we explore what true wisdom looks like, how to seek God’s guidance in everyday decisions, and the lessons we can learn from Solomon’s life. Through Proverbs, Paul’s missionary journeys, and practical steps for seeking God’s direction, we discover that wisdom is not just about making the right choice—it’s about living in a way that brings glory to God.

Our words carry incredible power. In Proverbs, Solomon teaches that wisdom isn't just about what we know—it's revealed in how we speak. This message explores three marks of wise speech: listening before responding, speaking truthfully, and using our words to bring life rather than tear others down.

No matter where our communication habits came from, Jesus is able to transform the way we speak. As we remember the life-giving words God has spoken over us—chosen, forgiven, redeemed, and loved—we learn to reflect His grace in every conversation.

What would you ask for if God offered you anything? Most of us would reach for money, comfort, or security. Solomon asked for wisdom, and what happened next changed everything.

In a world flooded with information, conspiracy theories, and instant answers, genuine wisdom has never been harder to find. The book of Proverbs and the life of Solomon offer something different: a real, practical path toward wisdom for everyday life.

This teaching explores what wisdom actually is, why it matters more than information, and how ordinary people can grow in it. Drawing from 1 Kings 3, Proverbs, the book of James, and the story of Job, we look at three concrete ways to pursue wisdom in real life.

Are you feeling spiritually drained, distracted, or disconnected? Life gets busy, and faith can quietly take a back seat without us even realizing it. In First Corinthians 16:13-14, the apostle Paul gives five short but powerful commands that serve as a blueprint for staying spiritually strong, no matter what season of life you are in.

These five postures of a resilient disciple are: be on your guard, stand firm in the faith, be courageous, be strong, and do everything in love. Each one is rooted in the reality of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, which means they are not about trying harder or doing more on your own. They are about receiving what God has already made available to every believer.

Being on your guard means staying spiritually awake and intentional, not letting life just happen to you. Standing firm is about building your life on the unshakable foundation of God's kingdom rather than relying on willpower alone. Courage is not something you generate from within. It is something you receive, because God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind. Strength works the same way. Like a tree drawing life from deep roots, biblical strength comes from God's grace meeting us in our weakness, not from having it all together. And love is the operating system that holds everything else in place, keeping our motives and actions oriented toward others.

Whether you are a new believer trying to build a strong foundation, a parent wanting to model faith for your family, or someone who has been walking with God for years and feels like you have drifted, these five postures offer a practical and biblical path back to spiritual vitality.

Topics covered include how to stay strong in your faith, overcoming spiritual drift, what the Bible says about courage and strength, how to stand firm in difficult times, the role of love in the Christian life, and how the resurrection of Jesus Christ empowers everyday discipleship.

If you are looking for biblical encouragement, practical faith application, or a deeper understanding of what it means to follow Jesus in real life, this is for you.

We live in one of the most affluent cultures in history — and one of the most anxious.

In week one of Overflow, we explore Jesus’ words in Matthew 6 and the deeper issue underneath our relationship with money: trust.

What if financial anxiety is not primarily a money problem, but a trust problem? What if generosity is more than obedience — what if it’s formation? Jesus teaches that where our treasure is, our hearts follow, and invites us to live not as orphans grasping for security, but as beloved sons and daughters trusting in a generous Father.

This message explores:
• Why Jesus spoke so often about money
• The “healthy eye” vs the “unhealthy eye”
• Anxiety, scarcity, and the fear of not having enough
• Generosity as a practice of trust
• Moving from belief into daily dependence on God

“Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” — Matthew 6:33

In Part 4 of The Fullness, we look at Paul’s words in Ephesians 2:11–22 and the stunning claim at the center of the gospel: Jesus doesn’t just forgive sin — He tears down walls. In the ancient temple system, barriers literally separated people from God and from one another. But through the cross, Christ didn’t merely remove obstacles; He created something entirely new — one new family.

This kind of unity isn’t built on sameness or cultural agreement. It’s rooted in our shared identity in Christ. Paul describes a new temple, not made of stone, but made of people — reconciled, redeemed, and joined together by grace. In a world fractured by fear, bitterness, and division, the Church becomes living proof of the power of the gospel.

If you’ve felt distance in relationships, tension across differences, or walls you’re not sure how to lower, this message points to the only foundation strong enough to hold us together: Jesus Himself.

Discover the reality of spiritual warfare and how Christians can effectively engage the unseen realm while staying anchored in God's love. This comprehensive teaching explores the three heavens described in Scripture, revealing how believers are already seated in heavenly places with Christ Jesus and can experience heaven's benefits now, not just in eternity.Learn the crucial difference between awareness and obsession when it comes to spiritual warfare. While we need intel about the enemy's plans, the key principle is that what you focus on is what you become. God sits in heaven and laughs at the devil's schemes because there's no comparison between God's power and the enemy's limited authority.Understand how modern spiritual attacks manifest, particularly through the mental health crisis affecting young people aged 14-30. Suicide rates are at all-time highs, and life expectancy has dropped for the first time in 70 years due to drug overdoses and suicide. Sleep deprivation serves as the number one trigger for mental health issues, making rest and peace essential weapons in spiritual warfare.Discover the biblical approach to binding and loosing that goes beyond just rebuking the enemy. Many believers get trapped focusing only on what they're fighting against without emphasizing what God wants to establish. If we clean out a house but don't fill it with God's presence, the situation becomes seven times worse.Explore creative prayer strategies and learn how to move in the opposite spirit of what the enemy is doing. Where there's death, declare life. Where there's despair, release hope. Where there's division, bring unity. This requires staying connected to the Father's heart and following His specific instructions, even when they challenge our comfort zones.Uncover what biblical evangelism really looks like - relationship over conversion. True evangelism isn't about having a default setting of trying to convict people of sin but about being in sync with the Holy Spirit and modeling our connection with the Father. Jesus was called a friend of sinners because He genuinely loved them, not because He was trying to get an angle on them.Learn how to bring light to dark places while staying anchored in God's love and authority. If we want to see the unseen realm and grow in spiritual influence, we need to go where people are opening spiritual doors and confidently offer them the greatest door - Jesus Christ. This teaching emphasizes growing in both spiritual authority and compassion, understanding our identity as those who carry the Holy Spirit within us. The Trinity planned before the foundation of the world for this moment when the Holy Spirit could dwell within mankind, setting us up for success rather than failure.

Discover the transformative power of being truly seen. This message explores how Jesus' interaction with a skeptical Nathanael reveals God's intimate knowledge and love for each of us. The Ultimate Power Move: Understanding Jesus' Approach to Authority explores how we can break free from the endless cycle of power struggles that dominate our world. Everyone knows what it feels like to be powerless, and we typically respond by fighting back, folding under pressure, or fleeing from conflict. These patterns create an exhausting cycle of escalation visible in everything from personal relationships to international conflicts. But Jesus showed a completely different way. When standing before Pilate—facing torture and death—Jesus demonstrated remarkable peace and clarity, understanding that all authority comes from God. This teaching examines the crucial difference between power (strength or ability) and authority (the legitimate right to use that power). Jesus' crucifixion appeared to be defeat, but His resurrection proved to be the ultimate power move that broke the cycle of death and domination forever. Learn how the early apostles came to embrace weakness rather than fighting for control, finding that God's power is made perfect in our surrender. Discover practical ways to stand in non-anxious presence during your own moments of powerlessness, trusting in the resurrection power that has overcome the world. This message offers biblical wisdom for anyone feeling trapped in power struggles, facing intimidation, or seeking to lead with Christ-like authority in their family, workplace, or community. Discover why Nicodemus, despite his religious knowledge and status, felt compelled to seek Jesus secretly and what Jesus meant by the mysterious requirement to be 'born again' to see God's kingdom. This teaching unpacks the powerful metaphors Jesus used - birth as something we receive rather than achieve, and the wind as a picture of God's unpredictable yet purposeful Spirit. Learn how Jesus referenced Ezekiel's prophecy about water and Spirit bringing new life, and why this message is relevant for both religious and non-religious people today. Whether you identify more with the rebellious prodigal son or his dutiful older brother who stayed home, Jesus offers the same invitation to experience spiritual rebirth. This message will help you recognize where religious routines may have become spiritual ruts in your life and how to position yourself to receive the fresh wind of God's Spirit. Perfect for anyone feeling spiritually stagnant, questioning their faith journey, or wanting to understand the true meaning of being born again. Discover how spiritual transformation isn't something you accomplish through effort but something you receive through grace. The Kingdom of God: Miracles, Signs, and Wonders Today explores whether supernatural healing, prophecy, and other spiritual gifts continue in our time. This powerful teaching examines Jesus' ministry pattern of combining authoritative teaching with supernatural demonstrations of power. Looking at passages from Matthew, Mark, and 1 Corinthians, we discover that Jesus consistently validated His message through healing the sick, casting out demons, and performing miracles as testimonies that the kingdom had arrived. The teaching addresses common questions: Have miraculous gifts ceased? Is healing based on faith or compassion? What is the biblical pattern for ministry today? Through examination of Scripture and contemporary testimonies of divine healing, supernatural knowledge, and miraculous interventions, we see compelling evidence that God's power remains available to believers. Paul's approach to ministry wasn't based on eloquent speech but on demonstration of the Spirit's power. This message challenges believers to step beyond theological limitations and unbelief to participate in demonstrating God's kingdom through the power of the Holy Spirit. Perfect for those questioning whether God still performs miracles, those seeking biblical foundation for supernatural ministry, or anyone wanting to see the kingdom demonstrated with power in their everyday life. Discover how ordinary believers can participate in extraordinary demonstrations of God's power today.

In this powerful message, we delve into the themes of healing, compassion, and the importance of truly seeing one another. Drawing inspiration from 1 Timothy 2, we are reminded to pray for our leaders, regardless of personal feelings, as an act of faith in God's sovereignty. The role of the church in a broken nation is to turn to Jesus and embody His love and mercy, becoming agents of healing. The parable of the Good Samaritan in Luke 10 teaches us the significance of seeing and having compassion for others. In our technology-driven world, making eye contact has become rare, yet it is essential for genuine connection and trust. Eye contact releases oxytocin, fostering empathy and making people feel seen and understood. As followers of Jesus, we are called to extend the love and mercy we've received to others, embodying the ministry of Jesus. This week, let's focus on truly seeing the people around us, making eye contact, listening deeply, and extending compassion.

This message begins by referencing Acts chapter 2, setting the stage for a discussion on the baptism of the Holy Spirit and the phenomenon of speaking in tongues. Pastor Luke recounts the early believers' experience at Pentecost, where they were filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in languages they did not know, which allowed people from various nations to hear the mighty works of God in their own tongues. The sermon then explores the purpose and benefits of speaking in tongues, which include speaking directly to God, strengthening oneself, confusing the enemy, and praying with the words of the Spirit. Luke then addresses common misconceptions and concerns about speaking in tongues, reassuring the congregation that it is a legitimate and powerful gift that should be desired. We should earnestly desire all spiritual gifts, including tongues, and to not be ashamed of this gift.

Guest Speaker Mary Jean Powers takes us back to a time of intense anticipation, to the epoch preceding Jesus' arrival when Israel's hope for the Messiah flickered in the darkness of political strife and occupation. We weave through history, uncovering the Israelites' steadfast observance of God's law and their fervent musings over John the Baptist's role in God's master plan. Ponder with us the extraordinary timing of the Roman occupation and how it set the stage for the incarnation of Christ, as Paul describes in Galatians, "when the time had fully come." It's a narrative that not only recounts the chronicles of yesteryears but also invigorates our current walk of faith, reminding us that divine timing is impeccable and always worth the wait.

Embark with us on an intimate odyssey, grounded in the teachings of Jesus Christ, as we seek the essence of discipleship amid the world's chaos. Our latest series invites you to reflect deeply on what it means to be with Him, become like Him, and extend His work into the tumult of today's society. As the political landscape quivers with the uncertainty of an election year, we contemplate how to uphold the pillars of presence, family, and mission, ensuring a life of flourishing within God's kingdom that outshines external turmoil.

The wilderness — both as a physical space and a metaphorical state of being — opens up an expanse for divine encounters and personal transformation. We turn to John the Baptist's example of solitude and embrace the solitude and introspection that are pivotal for spiritual growth. In an era where noise often drowns out clarity, we revere the silence that allows the word of the Lord to resonate within us. The Asbury University awakening stands as a profound illustration of how humility and hiddenness can spark waves of spiritual revival, encouraging a season of quiet and open-heartedness that prepares us for divine revelations.

As our journey culminates, we emphasize the eternal practice of worship and prayer, underscoring the importance of crafting a personal 'wilderness' for communion with God. Alongside our community's commitment to the Bread Bible Reading Plan and a week of unbroken prayer with 24-7 Prayer USA, we extend an invitation for you to weave prayer into your daily life. Let us bless our shared path and nourish a fellowship that cherishes reflection, tranquility, and an unwavering bond with the divine blueprint that guides our existence.

In her sermon, "Beholding the Coming King," Amy Joyner illustrates the significance of living with purpose and recognizing the character of our divine Father. She encourages her congregation to see themselves as virtuous and accept the transformation that stems from understanding God's nature. By sharing a personal anecdote related to parenting, she stressed the need for fostering a compassionate, welcoming atmosphere within our homes, reflecting God's nature. Amy then referred to the Biblical book of Micah, where God sternly admonishes His people. This critique, according to her, is for the believers, stressing the necessity to refocus on Jesus. She appealed to her congregation to forsake apprehension and self-commiseration, embracing instead trust in God's plan and His promises. Based on her personal journey of balancing multiple priorities, she impresses upon her listeners that surrendering to God's will opens avenues for His simultaneous work in our lives. Joyner went on to underscore the need for patience and trust in God's perfect timing by recalling the instance when the Israelites went astray, preferring a physical king and overlooking God's promises. She maintained that surrendering to God begins with forgiveness, urging believers to pray for the capability to absolve those who hurt them. Amy Joyner concluded her sermon by reiterating that God, in His nature, is loving and forgiving, and that surrendering to His will leads to a transformative journey aligning us with the image of Christ. This sermon, therefore, revolves around the ideas of surrender, trust in God's promises, forgiveness, and understanding God's nature. Trust in His perfect timing, surrendering our desires, and seeking God's presence in our lives were some of the key takeaways. The crux of the sermon is that God is a promise-keeper who stands ready to rejuvenate and transform those who submit to His will.

In the sermon "The Rejoicing Warrior," Pastor Jennette Ross pivots the discussion on the traditional Christmas Advent message to the prophet Zephaniah's declarations on Jesus' triumphant fight for His people. Drawing from last week’s sermon on Isaiah 11:1, Pastor Jennette asserts that Jesus reawakens that which has been declared dead, an association that corresponds with Zephaniah’s prophecies. She examines Zephaniah chapter three, nicknaming the prophet as the one who delivers harsh messages of demolition and death, but who later portrays God assembling His people, imposing His anger, and cleansing them. For her, this mirrors Jesus’ sacrifice and resonates with Zephaniah's prophecy. Jennette then zeroes in on Zephaniah 3:16-17, drawing a parallel between a mighty, victorious warrior and Jesus; a soldier who takes joy in them. She uses popular cinematic and biblical warriors and the Hebrew word for rejoicing, “Gil," to stress the depth of joy that Jesus, the mighty warrior has for his people. Pastor Ross further roots her point with an analogy about her husband's passion for his football team and segues this into the story of Israel's escape from Egypt, emphasizing the notion of God as the protector and warrior for His people. Concluding the sermon, Jennette incites the audience to introspect their approach in facing their battles and to seek prayer if they surrender too much to themselves or if they wish to deepen their understanding of Jesus as the rejoicing warrior. The sermon ends with a prayer for the church to gain a more profound understanding and experience of God. Ross contextualizes Jesus as a mighty warrior who celebrates and sings in joy for His people, reminding the congregation to trust in His power and find peace in His love.

The sermon "Out of the Stump" delivered by Pastor Luke Humbrecht revolves around the Advent Season, presenting it as a time of anticipation for the coming and return of Jesus Christ. Luke elucidates the complexities of existing in a kingdom already present but yet to be entirely realized. Referencing Isaiah 11:1-2, he interprets the prophecy detailing Jesus as the shoot that springs from the stump of Jesse and the lineage of King David. Luke elucidates this figurative speech, positioning the stump as an emblem of seeming demise yet simultaneous vitality underneath. Moving forward, the sermon delves into the unfaltering nature of God's promises and His ability to bring life from seemingly lost situations. He encourages followers to retain their faith in God's adherence to His words and to direct their cravings, aspirations, and hopes towards His promises. The sermon's discussion also extends to spirituality and its connection to longing for God’s promises while awaiting their fulfillment. The sermon advocates for resilience found in God's promises and exhorts listeners to endure the intricacies of living in limbo. It calls for an unwavering trust in God who can bring life and fruitfulness out of dead situations. Pastor Humbrecht concludes with a plea for surrender to God's will while expecting unexpected ways in which He could impact our lives. The sermon's main themes of hope and resilience urge the audience to cling to God's promises, reinforcing their faith in miraculous restorations even in despairing circumstances.

In his sermon "An Atmosphere of Faith," Pastor Luke Humbrecht delves into the importance of faith, based on the story of Jesus healing a paralyzed man in Mark chapter 2. The story underlines the transformative power of faith, as Jesus forgives and heals the man based on the faith shown by his carriers. The event prompts a debate about Jesus' authority to forgive sins, elevating the discourse on faith and its potency. Relating the story to a personal experience, Luke narrates the transforming encounter of a man named Michael with God, underlining the consistency of God's power and faithfulness. The narrative of the sermon then flows into the cruciality of creating a climate of faith, described as being more about entering into Jesus' faith rather than generating faith independently. Drawing from the story, he then iterates that creating such a climate requires perseverance in carrying others into Jesus' presence, underlining the responsibility of all believers to actively help those in need. The sermon emphasizes that faith can bring about healing, forgiveness, and transformation. The church is seen as a space for encountering God and liberation. The sermon's end features an invitation to partake in communion, celebrating the sacrifice of Jesus, reminding the congregation of the empowerment through Jesus' death and resurrection. The individuals are urged to partake with gratitude and openness to God's mystery and power.Throughout his sermon Luke stresses the influence of being open to the Holy Spirit, sharing personal experiences with God, and being receptive to prayer. In summary, the sermon centers on the importance of faith, creating an atmosphere of faith, and actively helping others experience Jesus while being guided by the Holy Spirit.

In her sermon "Becoming People of Peace," Pastor Jeannine Rodriguez-Everard addresses the congregation's need for peace in an era of hardship. She emphasizes her belief that everyone is called upon to carry God's message of love and light. By further yielding to the Holy Spirit's guidance and the comfort of God's embrace, she maintains, true peace can be achieved. The pastor underlines the importance of hearing God's voice by relating a personal story of her own grandmother, whose faith was deepened when she discovered the practice of listening to God. Jeannine urges her listeners to remain open to this concept, assuring them it is okay if they haven't experienced it yet.The sermon moves on to expound on the true biblical understanding of peace. Contrasted with the view that peace is simply an absence of conflict or upset, she describes it as the Hebrew concept of shalom, implying completeness, prosperity, and a state of being safe and whole. She persuades the congregation that this shalom is achieved through faith in Jesus, and not through individual effort. Remaining tranquil even in trying times, according to the pastor, is achievable through sincere prayer, thanksgiving, and focusing on the positive aspects of life. She concludes her sermon by encouraging the church to be observant and supportive of each other, reminding them that the power of Jesus can help them overcome any adversity and ultimately find true peace, or shalom.

The sermon titled "Marriage & the Glory of God" emphasizes the sanctity of the conjugal relationship, using it as a reflection of the unique relationship that exists between Christ and the Church. This sermon portrays marriage as a holy pact demanding sincerity, dedication, and affection. Through the course of this sermon, Pastor Luke and his wife Megan appeal to the members of the congregation to pray for the marriages of the church and to set God as a cornerstone in their relationships. Also, the need to seek divine intervention for enlightenment and fortitude to confront both the complexities and triumphs of marital life was underscored. Moreover, the sermon relayed the potent message that every marriage is a platform to manifest God's glory to mankind. The sermon went on further to highlight five key elements to nurture within a marriage: humor, celebration, promise, wonder, and exclusivity. By incorporating these elements, the pastor preached that any marriage could bear witness to the life-altering power of God's love. Hence, this uplifting sermon urges believers to cherish, nurture, and guide their marital relationship under God's watchful eyes, thereby turning it into a beacon of divine love and commitment.

In his sermon "Singleness & the Glory of God," Pastor Luke navigates the often-overlooked topic of singleness. Contrary to societal views that depict singleness as less desirable, he emphasizes the importance of seeing singleness as significant within the full scope of God's plan and God's glory. Drawing from Jesus' teachings in Matthew 19, he highlights the radical concept of some choosing to live a life of self-restraint for God's kingdom, thereby contesting the cultural belief that marriage is a prerequisite for happiness and God's blessing. Unraveling the anxieties and concerns stemming from societal expectations, Luke acknowledges that the church's view of marriage as the ultimate Christian ideal hasn't helped lighten the burden on singles. He debunks myths surrounding singleness, emphasizing that singles are complete in Christ and meaningful intimacy can be found outside of marriage and sex.

In this sermon, Luke delves into a complex and relevant topic: the intersection of Jesus, gender, and the transgender community. Luke provides a lucid analysis of the transgender movement, arguing the need for broader definitions of masculinity and femininity beyond societal stereotypes. He suggests a need for Christians to view their bodies, including their biological sex, as vessels imbued with the image of God, rooted in Genesis 1:26-27. Bringing up the concept of gender dysphoria, Pastor Luke draws parallels between this conflict and the war between mind and body in Romans 7. He acknowledges the tough challenges transgender individuals encounter, calling for understanding, compassion, and faith in the transcendental power of Jesus' love.

In the sermon "Jesus & the Gay Community", Luke takes on the complex issue of same-sex relationships in the context of Christian faith. He begins by acknowledging the diversity of perspectives and personal experiences within the church. By discussing personal stories and statistics, he emphasizes the unique struggles experienced by individuals within the LGBTQ+ community, particularly those raised in the church. He encourages the church to facilitate open dialogue to promote understanding. Luke embarks on an exploration of biblical passages associated with marriage and sexuality, including Genesis 2:18 and Mark 10:6. He discusses how different interpretations emerge based on both non-affirming and affirming viewpoints, underlining the necessity to consider the cultural and historical context in which these passages were written. Christians are encouraged to embody love, patience, and authenticity, all while upholding biblical vision of sexuality between a husband and wife. The sermon concludes with the poignant reminder that the gospel demands absolute faithfulness from all believers, regardless of their sexual orientation. The ultimate aim is to seek a deeper intimacy with Jesus and live a life that emulates His sacrificial love.

===========

In his sermon "A New Sexual Revolution," Luke boldly and sensitively addresses the topic of sexuality in the Christian context. He acknowledges the discomfort that often accompanies discussions of sex in the church environment and emphasizes the need for a safe, non-judgmental space to talk about sexual matters. Luke acknowledges that the church often projects a debased view of sex without effectively communicating a healthy, God-honoring perspective. He argues that sex, as a gift from God, should be enjoyed in a committed life-long covenant marriage between a husband and wife. He further identifies certain apparent deviations from God’s design for sex such as modern hookup culture, pornography, and cohabitation. He encourages the congregation towards a higher sexual ethic that is inclusive of dignity, virtue, and discipline. The sermon also tackles issues of identity and sexual desires, with the Pastor emphasizing that it is Christ, not individual desires or actions, that define one's identity. Wrapping up, the sermon calls for a new kind of sexual revolution anchored in the love, truth, and grace of Christ.

In his sermon, Pastor Luke Humbrecht emphasized the importance of Gospel Identity, urging his congregation to ascertain their identity through God's deeds rather than seeking self-discovery or giving into societal pressures. He reiterated that our identity is deeply rooted in our understanding of God and His life-changing role in our lives. Humbrecht stressed on the irreplaceable dynamics of the Trinity; God the Father acknowledges us as His children, Jesus the Son urges us to serve and demonstrate love towards others, and the Holy Spirit empowers us to fulfill our God-given purpose.Throughout, Humbrecht made references to several Bible verses from Acts, Romans, and John that demonstrate the Holy Spirit's essential part in equipping believers for their mission and purpose. He acknowledged the complexity of understanding the concept of the Holy Spirit but insisted on embracing its power and the presence in our lives. The pastor shared personal testimonies, shedding light on the Holy Spirit's transformative power. The sermon concluded with a prayer segment and an invitation for those seeking a fresh encounter with the Holy Spirit or the experience of glossolalia. Humbrecht advised the congregation to approach the Holy Spirit with an innocent and expectant heart, entrusting God to meet them in their current state. Overall, the sermon underscores our need to locate our identity in God and to accept the Holy Spirit's transformative powers to fulfill our divine duties and intentions.

When Jesus called his first disciples, they were shockingly different in personality, experience, and walks life, but somehow Jesus was able to unify them in Kingdom purpose. How do we walk unity in a culture that is so used to division and loneliness? In the sermon, Luke explores Jesus prayer in John 17 that is a vision for the church today.

One of the most profound promises in the Bible is that we are "blessed to be a blessing." That means we live from God's blessing to become agents of blessing – seizing every opportunity to overflow the goodness of God in our ordinary lives. But what does it mean to live a lifestyle of blessing? It means we speak life, listen well, make meals, share stories, and slow down to pay attention. As we do this, we join Jesus on His mission to transform the world with awe-inspiring love.

In this teaching series, we explore the seven “I AM” statements that Jesus makes in the gospel ofJohn. There are many ways people talk about Jesus. In our culture, Jesus is well-respected as aprophet, moral teacher, guru, sage, and revolutionary. But very few of these descriptions are howJesus described himself in his own words. But what does Jesus say about Jesus?

For each of us, the new year provides an opportunity to pause, take inventory, and adjust the trajectory of our lives.

In the Scripture, this was the case for King Josiah. (2 Chron. 34)

After a line of failed kingships, he decided to go against the grain and become a different kind of leader. In his season of transition, he realigned with the heart of God and called the people of Israel to do the same.

This Sunday at Vinelife, we're launching a new teaching series in which we'll be invited to turn our eyes to the Lord. Over the next four weeks, we'll explore the importance of living in the fear of the Lord and three areas of the kingdom life Jesus wants to take us deeper.

As we wrap up 2019, we not only close out a year, we are transitioning to a new decade.

This is a time when we all reflect on who we've become and stories of our lives.

But it's important to remember every story can be told in different ways.

Rather than draw your own interpretations of failures and victories, it's important we submit to the Father's version of our story.

When we are able to view our past through the lens of the Father's love for us, we'll be given new eyes to see a glorious future ahead.

When we open the gospel of Luke, we not only read about the birth of Jesus, we are introduced to another baby named John.

If Jesus was the Messiah, why doesn't the Christmas story just start with Him?
Why must another be born to prepare the way for Christ?

In the message, Luke talks about why preparation is important to the heart of God and what that means for each of us.

In John 15, Jesus proclaimed, “apart from me you can do nothing”. In saying this, he invites us into a deep, intimate connection with Him. Not just for ourselves but that we may bear fruit for the sake of the WORLD.

Prayer, as we know, is the blood flow of life in the kingdom. It’s the air we breathe, the food that nourishes our souls, and the drink that quenches our thirst.

Yet for many, it has become too easy for our prayerful connection with Jesus to be pushed to the margins of our lives - squeezed into brief moments between busyness and distraction.

For others, prayer comes hand in hand with disappointment. Years of seemingly unanswered cries have left many feeling confused and forgotten.

But it’s time for us to reimagine a life of prayer infused with purpose, hope, and power.

Together, we’ll press into what it means to develop a CONVERSATIONAL life with God — both in the secret place AND in communal agreement.

We’ll expand our imagination for what prayer is and what prayer can be.

Both intercession & contemplation

Adoration & petition

Silence & singing

Lamentation and delight

It all belongs together.

Join us for a season of seeking God together.

Jesus called his disciples that they might be with Him and that he might send them out to do the work of the kingdom.

The core invitation was simple: Follow me. Do what I do. Learn how I see. Repent and Believe.

But how do we recognize the work of the Kingdom in our lives? How do we know what it is Jesus is up to so we can join him as disciples?

With countless bible studies, accountability groups, workshops, books, sermons, methods, and formulas, sometimes it all feels complicated. But if we can stay rooted in the basics, we’ll find that Jesus is all around us, forming us into his likeness.

But it requires a new way to pay attention.

In this series, we’re going to explore 6 axioms that will help us stay centered in the love of God as disciples of Jesus Christ.

  • God is always present and at work.
  • God is like Jesus.
  • God meets us in reality.
  • God cares more than we do.
  • God does in you what he wants to do through you.
  • The goal of discipleship is divine union.

Advent is a season of expectation and celebration. We remind ourselves of God’s favor and sing songs of good cheer. But how do we sing about peace on earth when there doesn’t seem to BE peace on earth? How do rejoice in hope when it’s hard to know exactly what we are hoping FOR?

2,000 years ago, Jesus the Messiah came to us as a lowly babe. His arrival was completely under the radar for anyone anticipating a magnificent display of royalty. Many missed him, though some were able to recognize him. And even for the few who did receive Him, there was a cultivation process until they could see that Jesus was who they were waiting for.

In the same way, the kingdom often arrives into our lives as seeds rather than fully grown blossoms. If we’re looking for the wrong thing, we might just be missing the arrival of Jesus in our own lives. This Advent, we’re going to dive into what it means to become a people who see and cultivate the small seeds of love, joy, peace, and hope as we wait for them to mature in our lives.

As Christmas comes, we are ushered into a season of so many things we love - hot chocolate, candy canes, snow men, yule logs, and perfectly wrapped gifts. But underneath the decor and shiny packaging is a story that runs deep and wide. Advent is the time we turn our eyes to a baby - the king of glory wrapped in flesh, arriving in an anxious, politically charged world. The manger is about a mission. And this mission is about God’s unrelenting desire to come close and restore relationship with the whole world. He came to proclaim hope, peace, joy, & love and show us a better way to live. This mission existed from the beginning and moves forward even now as you sip your peppermint latte. And the best part - you and I are invited to join Him on this mission. It’s what makes this the most wonderful time of the year.

In this series, we will walk through 6 passages that are keys to living as “citizens” of heaven as we walk the earth.

As believers seek to influence culture, we are called to live lives marked by God's power. When we lose our power, our last resort is to try to talk louder. But volume is no substitute for God's power. (1 Cor. 1:18 - 2:5)

When it comes to your life, the spaces are the places where God moves.
You can’t live on mission, if you don’t have margin. This isn’t about being rich or poor - or how being broke is better than having money. In fact, people say money can’t buy happiness. Well, being broke can’t buy happiness either. This has to do with stewarding our finances well and refusing to live at the absolute limit. That’s fine if the world does that, but if you’re following Christ, and you pushing all of your limits to the max, it makes it nearly impossible experience the fullness of life in Christ.
