Gilchrist graduated from college thinking she wanted to be a teacher and went abroad to teach in Egypt and Spain. Later, she decided that her love for food would lead to her having success at a Washington DC bakery before heading down south to Charleston, South Carolina to open The Harbinger Cafe in 2016.
