In Chapter Two, the story takes the McKenzie history back to 1866 when James McKenzie, Victoria's great-great grandfather, tries to get to grips with the precarious manufacture of the up and coming textiles innovation, coal tar dyes. Unfortunately a bad accident happens at the plant causing him to rethink how he should run his factory and treat his employees better. However, his life is shattered by a subsequent personal catastrophe which changes forever the McKenzie family destiny.
