In 2010 Sandra Bullock took home the Oscar for Best Actress for The Blind Side. Up until this point in her career she was mostly known for rom-com roles, so this win was significant. Her fellow nominees included Carey Mulligan, a new face, for An Education - a good but creepy movie. Helen Mirren in The Last Station playing the wife of Russian author Leo Tolstoy, Sofya. Meryl Streep playing the flamboyantly eccentric Julia Child. Gabourey Sidibe was nominated for Precious directed by Lee Daniels. Arguably one of the most difficult movies I have ever watched. Very dark. Very interesting year! Who do you think should have won?
