“Unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies it produces many seeds. Anyone who loves their life will lose it, but anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it.”
We hear these words from Jesus and yet most of us are still terrified of death. The process of letting things go—even very good things—is not one we are comfortable with. Conversations during the last three weeks of the COVID-19 crisis have exemplified this as many Americans have begun to clamor for a return to “normal.” But what if there are are “normal” things that we need to let go of? What if the way forward is into something new, not resurrection something old?
…and what does Harry Potter have to do with any of this?
