This week Jason Chaffetz identified “nihilism” as a core cultural cause that could have led to the violent assassination of Charlie Kirk. Nihilism is a philosophy centered on the belief that life lacks intrinsic meaning, value, and purpose. Dr. Jonny agrees that this demonic belief is driving this violent trend and furthermore, we need to be aware that this is being taught everyday in our children’s science classes! Only Truth can overcome the lies, and that is our responsibility!
Dr. Jonny conveys all the emotions of the events of last week surrounding the tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk. He explains how martyrdom carries a such a huge impact in that it not only turns people but actually turns evil itself! So much so, that Dr. Jonny believes that the people who are in opposition (Saul) to Charlie and his ministry today, will be the greatest voices (Paul) for the movement tomorrow!
The “political spirit” seeks to control and silence, which is the goal of the progressive movement. The Democrats, instead of realizing that their progressive policies are unpopular and are being rejected by the electorate, have double-downed on their positions and claim they just haven’t been "bold enough.” Dr. Jonny explains that this will be good for the conservative movement as we are finding our voice again!
We live in an instant, “need-it-now” society. Because of this, we can lose the importance of future thinking, and focus only on what we can experience today. Dr. Jonny explains that a generational mindset is not only the healthiest culture it is the core ingredient for the survival of culture itself!
After Dr. Jonny shares more information about the new Famology podcast being released September 3rd, he describes the dismal box-office performance coming out of Hollywood again this summer. The movie industry has faced the consequences of alienating audiences with political messaging, ideological content and the replacing of male-centric stories with female leads. This, however, has created a real opportunity for “kingdom creatives” to bring influence as the movie executives are calling for fresh, original and connectable content!
What happens when news stories are released “for your disinformation?” We need to be to distinguish what is for our good and for our health, from what is politically motivated or for self-interest. Dr. Jonny shares three headlines from just this week that need to be discerned and studied. We cannot rely on the media, we need to be the ones that are informed for our families!
This week, a court ruling overturned the 1954 Johnson Amendment which prohibited nonprofits from endorsing or opposing candidates if they want to remain tax-exempt. Dr. Jonny sees this as a major win for podcasts like Pushback, for free speech, and for the body of Christ in America! However, It is only a huge win if we utilize the pulpit, our influence, our love, our courage and the spiritual insight given to His ministers!
From Eden to Revelation, the Bible is one example to the next of heavenly encounters with earthly people. In fact, the separation of heaven and earth was created very thin, and we should expect to see and hear heavenly manifestations because we are spiritual beings.. Dr. Jonny encourages us to stop, look and listen so that we may become more spiritually aware and mature in order to battle the dark places!
The 4th of July is a great opportunity to celebrate the greatest and longest lasting democracy in history. It is a celebration of the freedom to celebrate, worship, disagree and protest. Our culture has become so angry with those that disagree with us, but, as Dr. Jonny explains, it is because we have lost perspective on who or what the real enemy is!
The murder of a Minnesota lawmaker this week was another example of political violence that has hit our culture. Dr. Jonny knows there are issues that anger us, but as Christians we are then to pivot toward the world with love and honor. Honoring rhetoric can persuade and influence, whereas careless rhetoric can inflame, anger, and even incite violence. While honor doesn’t mean agreement, it is the strategy that opens the door to real dialogue and real change.

Dr. Jonny shares his trials he faced this week, and compels us to embrace patience and even waiting. As Pentecost Sunday approaches, we remember that the key that unlocked the Promise was to wait. Waiting isn’t passive, but rather positional! We are to position ourselves with expectancy for the next and the greater assignment for His kingdom!
We live in an instantaneous society; we don’t like waiting and patience has become counter-cultural. Dr. Jonny explains that patience is not an inactive word, but actually unlocks our inheritance and aligns ourselves to the working of the Spirit. Patience is a surrendering of our own way and a connecting to His ways and to His cadence.
Dr. Jonny reviews a scene from The Chosen, where the writers and producers decided to have Jesus give an explanation as to why some do not get healed. This extra-biblical explanation did not line up with the nature and will of God and did not accurately depict the ministry of Jesus, which was…He healed them all! He is not defined by our disappointments, we are defined by HIs goodness!
PARENTAL DISCRETION ADVISED. As parents, we have the God-given dominion to influence and steer our children’s culture. Dr. Jonny gives many examples just over the past week where the world’s culture has exposed our children to vile and damaging propaganda. It is time for parents to rise up and become what they were created to be and prejudiciously defend their children and moral truth.
Antisemitism isn’t just an atrocity of the past, but is alive and well today. Dr. Jonny explores our prejudices and our position as Christians toward the Jewish faith and the nation of Israel.. It wasn’t the Jews that crucified Christ, it was our sin. But, He didn’t stay in the grave, He rose again for the salvation of all! This Easter, let’s continue to pray for the salvation and protection of Israel!
The is only One mediator between God and mankind and that is the Man Christ Jesus. Yet, if we are not careful we can exalt the things or people created by God above God himself. He has never asked for religion, rituals, trinkets, superstitions, other humans or any other image to be needed to appease Him or to find Him. We are His offspring and He is all we need!
Dr. Jonny shares his experience traveling the Aegean Sea and following in the Apostles Paul’s footsteps. Paul had an encounter with the Living God that propelled him with such courage even to hostile regions. This dedication started a movement of the kingdom and established the church. In so many ways, though, Paul was just like us, just a regular dude with a choice to make…his choice change world history, and so can we!
Dr. Jonny is taking his wife on a Mediterranean Cruise to celebrate their 30th Wedding Anniversary! In this podcast, He describes the word Selah, explaining the importance of not only “going” for His kingdom, but pausing, reflecting and responding. Dr. Jonny and his family attended a rally at the Minnesota State Capital on Monday to support a bill banning biological males from competing in women’s and girls sports. The magical and delusional arguments against this bill left a feeling of being trans-ported to an alternate reality. However, this is where the battle (and many others like it) is taking place. Our battle is not against flesh and blood, but principalities and powers, and we need to pray and be activists for the politics of earth AND of heaven!
Jesus is not some far off and distant God. Rather, He has called us into an intimate and covenant relationship with Him. He doesn’t just look to help us or impact us, He looks to become one with us. Dr. Jonny wants to help those who are hurting or searching by sharing the “Co-Co List” from scripture that demonstrates the heart of Jesus as our Bridegroom.
Many scientists have surrendered the truth to propagate an atheistic evolutionary religion. The lack of objective evidence has left them desperate and they have abandoned science altogether. Dr. Jonny wants sprinkle in simple and irrefutable evidence that contradicts the evolutionary theory and provides confidence, courage and language that displays the marvelous handiwork of our Creator.
Several executive orders by the Trump administration have been lauded as simple “common sense.” However, Dr. Jonny warns that the word common is a movable target and we need to be more focused on what is “normal sense” than what is common. Normalcy is directly tied to a standard and abnormal behavior is tied to sin. We should courageously hold His standard for the benefit, well-being and health of America!
Congress is looking to pass the Kids Online Safety Act, a bill aiming to protect kids from the harms of social media and other online platforms. While Dr. Jonny commends congress for trying to introduce such bill, he exhorts parents to exercise the greatest discretion over our children’s lives and the content they are exposed to. This is an emergency and requires radical change and oversight for the health of our children!
President Trump temporarily halted federal funding to the States this week citing that the use of Federal funds to advance DEI, transgenderism and green policies don’t improve the live of those we serve. The liberal media call this chaos. However, Dr. Jonny explains that Jesus was the greatest cultural reformer of all time, and sometimes it requires tipping over tables to effect real change!
The Trump Inauguration and subsequent Executive Orders this week created a swift and decisive shift in our nations direction and culture. Dr. Jonny reviews many topics that were discussed in prior podcasts that were cultural wins this week. However, the political price for these wins came at a cost of compromise in one critical cultural arena: the fight for the unborn. We learned this week how dramatically things can shift when the majority of the electorate unite, and it can happen again in our fight for life!
As Christians, we can’t only complain about what doesn’t work in our culture, we need to sell what does work! Dr. Jonny explains that Jesus offers a “higher way;” something that cannot be achieved on our own. Jesus promises us an abundant life that is superior to anything this world offers and will allow us to achieve our cultural goal of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness!

At the end of Season 5, Dr. Jonny recaps five years of Pushback, where we are culturally today, and the direction for the podcast into 2025 and season six! There is cultural momentum today as much of what the secular world is offering isn’t working and is increasingly being rejected. We need to pushback at a culture of pain, dysfunction and selfishness and push forward as we promote His “ways.”
Dr. Jonny addresses scripture from the New Testament that seems to limit or restrict women in the operation and teaching of the New Testament Church. These passages were never intended to subordinate women for all eternity, but rather to bring order in a time of unprecedented freedom and liberation!
Jesus not only came to save us, but to restore the heart of the Father. Women were created as the equal and comparable strength to men and Jesus came to liberate women into their created destiny. Dr. Jonny describes empowered women in the Old Testament and in the New Testament Church. The Spirit was poured out on all flesh, male and female, and it is time for the Church to operate in full capacity!
Dr. Jonny answers common questions about women in marriage, motherhood and ministry. When we drop a plumb line from the Garden of Eden, we see how scripture lines up with the Father’s original plan and heart for women. When women are promoted to their rightful place in oneness it empowers the home, the body of Christ and the next generation.
Dr. Jonny continues his position on women in marriage and the church, and how the misapplication of headship in Ephesians 5 has kept women from their rightful place in oneness with their husbands. Husbands weren’t called to rule or control their wives, but rather to live inseparable. The church needs to be all it was created to be in order to impact and equip the next generation!
Young women are leaving the church in unprecedented numbers, as they struggle to find their purpose in the body. The subordinate role of women being taught in the church has separated them from their created, rightful place as wives, mothers and ministers. Dr. Jonny begins a series on the Father’s heart for women, by describing the original marriage in Genesis Chapters 1 and 2. Husbands ruling over their wives, as noted in Genesis 3, was the result of sin and the fall; it wasn’t the new order…it was the out of order!
Churches and Church leaders have the difficult task of balancing structure and surrender. Sound doctrine and orderly gatherings are essential for victorious living but do we also allow room for the Holy Spirit’s agenda, or do we confine Him to our way of doing things? “Thy kingdom come,” is a powerful prayer, but it can also be messy, unpredictable and even uncomfortable. The next generation is comfortable with the uncomfortable…as longs it leads to an authentic encounter!
So often what happens in the natural mirrors what is happening in the spiritual. The landslide victory for conservative values this week, including a remarkable shift from young people, speaks to a generational momentum toward God’s “ways.” Dr. Jonny describes how the woke ideology is being rejected and that we, as the church, have an incredible opportunity to fill the void with a landslide of freedom and truth!
Election week is upon us, and this is not the time for the Church to be distant, quiet and hidden. The Church is called to the public square and even to politics to be the most most potent and influential force and the earth! Dr. Jonny ends the misinformation about the separation of church and state and calls us to never take for granted the freedoms we have inherited.
The LGBTQ+ community has staggering statistics regarding depression and suicide, not because of societal rejection or bullying, but because of hurt and trauma. The church has compromised on scriptural truth regarding sexual orientation and instead of offering healing and restoration found in Jesus, they have “given them over” to the lusts of their hearts. We, the church, can save our children by offering the answer to their problems…the uncompromising truth mixed with uncompromising compassion!
The secular faith is attacking our foundational beliefs. The result is a crumbling foundation and a compromised worldview. The first eleven chapters of Genesis forms the very basis and foundation of our faith, and it is not contradicted by science and is referenced by Jesus, so we need to have an uncompromising confidence in all of scripture and boldly promote its promises to the next generation.
A recent survey showed that only 6% of self-proclaimed Christians and only 1/3 of pastors have a Biblical worldview! Absolute truth is a person, and the church cannot profess a belief in relative truth and at the same time profess a belief in Jesus. The church is in a compromising position, and the younger generation sees it, and is rejecting it. It is time to pushback, rise up, and be the glorious church that re-presents Jesus on the earth!
Jesus is the answer to all our problems and the church has been given the task to make Him and His Kingdom known. Unfortunately, church attendance and Christian affiliation is declining and the next generation is leaving because they are after a real encounter with the presence of an authentic God that offers authentic love. Dr. Jonny calls for church leaders to demonstrate the works of Jesus and even greater works!
Voting is the ultimate way to express love for your country. Dr. Jonny compels you to inject yourself into the political process to send a powerful message to the politicians about what is important to you and your family. Voting is about influence and saving our children from dangerous policy.
By becoming hyphenated Americans, we have unknowingly allowed a political spirit to cause a deep division in our country. Dr. Jonny proposes that despite political, social and racial unrest, politicians have intentionally categorized us and have pit us against each other. We can save our children by protecting them from this division, and by demanding that politicians champion Americanism!
Dr. Jonny continues his series on how the political spirit is killing our kids. We need to look no further than Tuesday night’s presidential debate to see how easily and effortlessly politicians (and moderators) operate in the realm of lies. They lie because it works. They are counting on you to believe anything they say and that you will not research or discern the truth. Truth is a person, and it is Jesus and His realm that will help us, and our children, discern truth from the lies.
Vladimir Lenin famously said, “Give me four years to teach the children and the seed I have sown will never be uprooted.” The dangerous left woke ideology has a strategy and is recklessly targeting schools and universities to harmfully indoctrinate your children. However, the heart of the Father wants your children healthy and impactful. Because of this, Proverbs 22:6 similarly states, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” Our children will be sown into, we choose the seed!
Mark Zuckerberg admitted this week that the White House pressured his company to censor information from Americans regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Jonny discusses why this should ignite new discussions about free speech in America, the imminent danger of losing the free movement of information and how this critical right is of paramount importance for our culture and our children.
While some of the promises of socialism sound tempting at first, they will eventually all flutter away. Dr. Jonny explains the danger of a socialistic world view and how reckless political promises endanger and damage our children. We must resist anything that erodes our children’s determination and purpose!
Climate change alarmists have set policy based on “facts” that have been proven to be untrue. Because of this, the only way for politicians to maintain power is through control, manipulation and mandates. Dr. Jonny explains that these manufactured doomsday scenarios have created unnecessary stress and mental illness among our children, but also, have created an economic poverty that is even a greater threat to their long term health and well-being.
The crisis at the border is more than just a political talking point, a secure border is essential for our national sovereignty. Dr. Jonny answers the important questions of why anyone would want open borders, and who benefits? When we lead with depravity of mind and selfish desires our culture crumbles and our children suffer. As ambassadors, we are called to bring order and maintain sovereignty!
Abortion is literally killing our kids. The real conversation is being swept under the rug by a political spirit that seeks to maintain power and control, and a citizenry that is selfish, uninformed and oblivious. When politicians refuse, Dr. Jonny will answer the one and only question in this debate: “when does life begin?”
It wasn’t the Republicans shouting, “Joe’s gotta go” this week, but rather a small group called the “donor class.” A plutocracy is an elite or ruling class of people whose power derives from their wealth; the president was beholden to them, and stepped down. Dr. Jonny exposes the danger of a plutocracy especially because it limits the diversity of perspectives in political leadership and thwarts generational thinking.
Donald Trump has said “God alone” saved his life from an assassination attempt. We witnessed something more than mere chance or human agency. We saw the very hand of God stay a bullet and preserve not just a life but a nation. But, America needs more than just the providence of a near-miss. We need an awakening across our nation, to get back into the public square, to fight for our children, our country, and our future.
The current political environment is not generational in mindset and is therefore killing our kids! The further away we get from the heart of the Founding Fathers, the more rules and control will be required to govern. That is why history is being scrubbed, because it provides evidence of divine influence and personal accountability in the foundations of the greatest democracy in history!
Our country was founded on a Declaration of Independence, but an independent mindset is counter-cultural to God's plan for His people. Dr. Jonny calls for a cultural shift, starting with marriage and parenting, toward a healthy dependence on one another. He is a relational God, and He designed us to need Him and be dependent on His voice.
Doctor Jonny continues his series on how the attack on culture is killing our kids. He saw the presidential debate on Thursday night as the perfect transition from pseudo-science (the doctors who concealed the severity of the President’s physical and mental compromise) to politics (with the only agenda of re-election, power and control.) We, as ambassadors of heaven, and for our children, have the responsibility and power to engage in the political arena.
Many are now, in hindsight, criticizing the decisions made by scientists during the Covid-19 pandemic and Dr. Fauci recently took questions by members of congress. Dr. Jonny reviews the pertinent history of the pandemic, distinguishes between science and pseudo-science, explores the consequences of giving up freedoms, and how those difficult decisions effected our children.
Like with any battle, there is a cost for standing up and pushing back, especially when fully engaged in a culture war! Dr. Jonny shares a current story of a young doctor who stood up for what is right and true and is now feeling the price of his conviction. He said, “If we don’t fight back, what world are we delivering our children into?”
Abraham Lincoln taught us in his Gettysburg Address that we are responsible to never forget and to live a life that honors those that have died. While on family vacation and after visiting Gettysburg, Dr. Jonny shares his heart about the power of remembrance. He shares his heart on what would have been his granddaughter Lucy’s 4th birthday, so that he would never forget and would live a life that honors her.
Dr. Jonny continues his series on how pseudo-science damages our culture and our children by abandoning real science for political agendas. Climate change activists have implemented fear tactics and have caused economic ruin based on poor scientific data. The victims are the poor and the younger generation who have believed the false narrative that the “sky is falling.”
Even though the most basic study of biology, anatomy and genetics support an objective binary human body, many in the medical community have affirmed the feelings and emotions of a non-binary gender identity. Dr. Jonny explains that this is not only embarrassing to those claiming to be scientists, but damaging to those they are trying to affirm!
Pseudoscience has entered the medical profession, as truth and rationality has been replaced by woke ideology. The result has been a breech of the first principle of medical ethics: first do no harm! Dr. Jonny passionately explains how medicine’s approach to “transgender care”has been an embarrassment to his profession and will go down as one of the worst medical scandals in U.S. History.
Scientists, science publishers and science journalist have bowed to god-less religion and have laid aside the scientific method and the search for truth for a progressive and political worldview. Dr. Jonny explains that this has led to a compromised product and a compromised people. The public trust in science is at a historical low as the pseudoscientists have formed an unholy alliance with a political agenda.
Systemic racism refers to systems in place that create and maintain racial inequality. Surprisingly, our public education system is one of those systems. Evolution is a cruel and hopeless religion, but there is something even deeper and more sinister at play in our public schools and colleges that is never talked about. Dr. Jonny exhorts parents and students to stand up to our science teachers and professors and expose the systemic and insidious racism in their teaching.
What if you only had 25 minutes to share the importance about Creation vs Evolution to High School students? Dr. Jonny was given that challenge by a local Youth Group leader continuing a series on worldview. This is really a discussion about two competing religions, both requiring faith to believe. However, real science actually supports a creationist worldview and exposes the lies and predictable cultural destruction of evolution.
Dr. Jonny explores how pseudoscience is destroying the foundation of our culture. Evolution is presented to our culture as fact, maybe even law. However, the evolutionary worldview doesn't stand up to the scientific requirements for a law, a fact, or even a theory! It is a religion, and it takes way more faith to believe in evolution than in creation! Evolutionary science is really bad science and it is killing our kids!
Historians contend that Custer’s Last Stand happened because General Custer underestimated his enemy, he waited too long to call for help and he was arrogant. Dr. Jonny hopes history does not repeat itself as he lays out our current battlefield. We are in a culture war with our children as unnecessary casualties. Family is culture’s last stand against an unholy alliance that seeks to sacrifice our children on the altar of selfish pleasure and control.
If parents are to be intentional and proactive, and family is the backbone of culture, then we need to get our house in order. Fatherlessness is the greatest hinderance to a healthy culture and the main reason family is being steamrolled. Dr. Jonny lays down the truth of our current family culture, and the sobering statistics about fatherlessness tells the story. However, we live in the time when “He will turn the hearts of the Father’s to their children…” and this will be the one of the greatest sources of healing for our culture.
Our children’s pre-frontal cortex, which is the part of the brain that controls planning, attention, judgement and decision making, does not become fully developed until the age of 25. When our children are exposed to inappropriate content in relationships, at home, or on social media, their brains cannot process it, leading to confusion, anxiety, depression, guilt and even suicidal thoughts. Dr. Jonny calls for parents to be the first line of protection from those that are targeting our children!
The “World Happiness Report” was released this week, and the United States ranked at a record low. Predictably, this was the result of a dismally low score among the young people in the U.S. because our culture is in a crisis. Those that have created the crisis try to propose “fixes” for the crisis…only to further propagate the crisis! Dr. Jonny explains that we as parents can help our children navigate their emotions, which results in perseverance, character and hope!
In a continued attempt to redefine and dilute family, recent headlines show that even the word mother is under attack. Family is the backbone and platform the Father used to establish and reproduce His culture on the earth. Dr. Jonny continues his crusade to save our children by explaining that any attempt to redefine gender, parenting and family is selfish, an assault on healthy culture and a break from reality.
Alcohol, drugs and more specifically, Fentanyl usage have risen to epidemic proportions and are literally killing our kids. Dr. Jonny shares his parental, ministerial and medical knowledge to inform parents of this immediate and absolute threat. He shares how the abuse of these drugs are not the disease, but rather they create an altered state that temporarily allows them to escape the real disease.
With obesity statistics rising at alarming rate, Dr. Jonny continues his series on Killing our Kids by examining childhood obesity. With our children rarely meeting the daily recommended physical activity, the large consumption of junk food and empty calories and kids spending an average of 7 1/2 hours a day using entertainment media, obesity has become a health emergency. While avoiding shame, we as parents need to not normalize unhealthy choices, become proactive and pushback to save our children’s lives!

A cynic believes people always act selfishly so they should be outright rejected. They are driven by competition, notoriety, grant funding, and political pressure rather that pursuing objective truth. We can no longer blindly accept what scientists say, but need to critically appraise what is released or re-released in search of what really is true.
Many use the expression, “Yada, Yada” to describe boring or empty talk. However, the Hebrew word Yada is the exact opposite. It means to know or acknowledge and is a word of deep meaning and intimacy. Dr. Jonny explains that Yada was central to the Father’s culture from the beginning. When we lean not on our own understanding, but in all our ways (culture) acknowledge (Yada) Him, He will make straight our paths.

When you are on the right side of a moral issue, it is difficult to compromise. Truth in the heavenly realm should not be compromised because we answer to only One. However, sometimes in the political realm compromise is necessary to move the needle in the direction of truth even if full truth is not achieved yet. Federal Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk’s decision this week to freeze the FDA’s approval of the abortion-pill combination was a significant victory not only for the pro-life cause but also for the entire narrative surrounding the life of the “unborn humans.” His 67 page decision was scientific, accurate, respectful, and used language that helped frame the pro-life position and exposed the danger and suspect motive of the anti-life position. Dr. Jonny stresses the importance of an informed citizenry and encourages the unrelenting fight for life.
The indictment of former president Donald Trump this week signals a new low in the political realm as the claim “no one is above the law” battles the claim “weaponization of the law.” Many see this new attack as the start of a Banana Republic, where one seeks to imprison their political foes. Disagreement has equalled hate, and if we hate each other, then we can justify slander, lying and even imprisonment, because our enemy is just getting what they deserve.

When consumerism moves into realms such as medicine, schools or even the church, we become more focused on avoiding offense, favorable surveys, and especially money! In the same vain, why would we marvel when an anti-christ culture manifests in an evil way? When Sam Smith, a pop singer, performed his hit single “Unholy” at the Grammy Awards, dressed in a Satan costume, and glorifying a dangerous and destructive sexual culture, he was simply acting out of his pain. Dr. Jonny is hoping we can see through all of the perversion, and be moved by compassion.
In our society and even in our heavenly culture, people are free to live the lifestyle they choose, even though we might not all agree on what is healthy, beneficial or moral. However, when some in society want to transpose their views on others, they should not be allowed to take or redefine what belongs to us or what we call sacred. The woke race obsession looks for closure with our history, but instead creates a dishonest treadmill that is less about healing or even reparation, and more about revenge.
Racial tension continues at a high level in our country, and the woke agenda is actually creating more division than unity. As a nation, we need to have a target and a mission statement so we know where we are headed and what is our goal. In 1963 Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his “I Have A Dream” speech in Washington DC and gave us a target. Dr. Jonny explains that his mission statement can be used as a guide to examine whether our actions bring us closer to or further away from the dream!

Our culture loves to rank us and debate who is the “greatest of all time” for every different cultural category. We don’t have to imagine what it would be like to achieve all this world has to offer, we can look at the G.O.A.T.s of history and discover the emptiness and pain that fame and fortune offered them. All this world has to offer will never be enough. Dr. Jonny promotes influence and exposure in our culture, but offers guidelines and safeguards so that we don’t go down the path of emptiness, but that we promote the kingdom of heaven.
Jesus came to restore the Father’s plan for family and marriage. He didn’t come to implement Plan B; He came to restore Plan A! Because of this, Dr. Jonny explores Genesis chapter 2 to discover what the Father intended at the beginning. The intended culture for marriage was oneness, but somehow the cultures of the world and even of the church have allowed room for couples to stay separate and independent. Heaven’s culture is clear that we are no longer two…but one!
Technology is neither good or bad. How we use it, determines what impact it has on our lives. Dr. Jonny explores the current research on cell phone and video game usage and how it impacts us socially, emotionally and conversationally. We cannot let ourselves or our children use personal technology unfettered or without boundaries. We need to create “sacred spaces” that are device-free, set aside for conversation, where we can listen and be heard.
On June 24th, 2022 the United States Supreme Court overturned Roe vs Wade! Dr. Jonny celebrates this landmark decision while exhorting his listeners that this is the starting line not the finish line. The forces of darkness that have surrounded this issue for the last 50 years are now raging and we should expect irrational opposition and retaliation. However, as this dark veil is lifted, the light of the goodness of God will be revealed, and the culture of our nation will be drawn to it!
The rise of cellphones, video games and even the Covid pandemic have created a culture of social distancing. As human beings we are hard-wired to need one another and be in close physical contact. From premature babies, to raising children, to spouses and even to the body of Christ we were created to need human touch. Dr. Jonny calls for virtual reality to not become our new reality!
Sometimes the most critical person we know is ourselves. Since the beginning of time, the enemy has wanted us to live in shame and self-condemnation. This keeps us ineffective and deceived, and we can be led further into this deception by believing that self-condemnation is just another word for humility. Dr. Jonny wants to break the cycle of shame and silence the voice of the enemy. We can only believe about ourselves what the Father believes about us!

By valuing the birthright Jacob actually positioned himself for advancement and inheritance that was afforded to him through his family line. The Lord saw a value for family as the foundation to build a nation upon. Also, through the transformational power of forgiveness, this estranged sibling relationship was restored. Instead of a sword, Esau confronted Jacob with a kiss.
Another school shooting this week in Uvalde, Texas has left us saddened, disheartened and frustrated. To further the frustration, politicians have predictably used this tragedy to score political points and advocate gun control, while not addressing the real monster behind the mask. Dr. Jonny passionately exposes the culture of death propagated in classrooms, media, Hollywood, and even in Washington, that leads to hate and violence in the fatherless, orphaned heart.
The answer to any broken relationship, including siblings, is a Father. Jesus came to declare a Father to an orphaned world. Dr. Jonny continues his series on sibling rivalry, by explaining that in the “prodigal son” story both siblings were displaying an orphaned spirit by not valuing or celebrating each other or their position in the family. This parable is really more about the Father and how He restores us to our rightful position as sons and daughters. Sibling relationships are not often talked about, not valued and have become a punchline in secular sit-coms. This is common culture, but not normal culture. There is no one the earth that is the more similar to you both genetically and how your were raised. This relationship was divinely ordained to offer you an advocate to help you and guide you thru life. Dr.Jonny begins a series on siblings by reviewing Cain and Abel, the world’s first siblings, and investigating the age-old question, “Am I my brother’s keeper?” Dr. Jonny’s answer might surprise you!
A leaked draft opinion from Judge Samuel Alito commented that the Roe v Wade judgement was “egregiously wrong.” This document hopefully if a foretelling of the eventual decision of the Supreme Court effectively ending the constitutional right to an abortion. The abortion laws would then return to the state legislatures and would immediately trigger bans on abortion in about half the states. Dr. Jonny explains that this is time of celebration but not complacency! As this dominates the national conversation, now is the time to become the loudest voice in the room!
Even secular sociologists agree that as family goes, so goes the culture. However, some in our culture are actually trying to make the case that parents protecting their children is weaponized extremism. Dr. Jonny passionately explains that family was meant to be powerful and critical to the Father’s original plan as we reproduce His culture over the face of the earth…and there is no plan B! We have been weaponized to fill the earth and subdue it. We should never hide from or apologize for our role on the earth. The kingdom needs “mama grizzlies” to protect and fight for our families.
This last month the Walt Disney Corporation has been the perfect example of bending a knee to woke activists, and as a result has found itself in a losing battle. While catering to a noisy agenda, they have abandoned their customers, their stockholders and even their common sense. The “Parental Rights in Education” bill, which is in the center of the controversy, has been passed in Florida, and it was not accomplished by politicians, but by parents! Dr. Jonny applauds parents for pushing back because family will always be at the center of every cultural change!
As our woke culture crosses over into the absurd and ridiculous, many quietly go along with it because of the fear of be ostracized, cancelled, censored or smeared. The definition of phobia is an irrational fear of something, so when the LGBTQ community implements intimidation and requires passive submission to their irrational pronouns, they are actually being homophobic! Dr. Jonny encourages honoring pushback towards the woke mob, so that our culture and our children can live on a platform of truth and protection.
Placing our children on a pedestal and idolizing their performance is not a healthy culture for them physically or mentally. The culture of sports illustrates this destructive behavior better than anything else. Setting them on a worldly pedestal is setting them up for a fall. Dr. Jonny explains that parents have to navigate the tricky waters of being proud of our kids but not attaching pride to our kids while helping them find their true identity.
Our Western mindsets tend to rank and categorize people and thus we look at ourselves “graded on a curve.” People can often support harmful and extreme positions so as to make themselves feel better, because they aren’t that bad, relatively speaking. Dr. Jonny wants to expose this sinister cultural plan and not allow extremists to move the needle of morality in our nation. God is Holy, and His ways are right, and concerning His ways we don’t negotiate, bargain or compromise. Our lives are the proof of His holiness!
Covid-19 cases, deaths and hospitalizations are all declining and Dr. Jonny is feeling optimistic, however, the effects of the coronavirus infection can sometimes be long lasting and linger. “Long Haulers” is a term the medical community is using to describe various post-Covid syndromes. Dr. Jonny describes some post-Covid complications and, once again, advocates vaccination. Vaccination reduces the likelihood and severity of long hauler symptoms even if not previously vaccinated!
Cinderella is one of the greatest and well known rags-to-riches story ever written. Contained in the story is a powerful gospel message. A story of a loving king and a kind prince that transforms a girl from being enslaved and rejected into a glorious princess! Our worth and identity is only found in the Father and the restored relationship offered through His Son. Dr. Jonny explains that during times of crisis, the world needs the Bride to realize her identity, to be pure, powerful and beautiful. Jesus isn’t coming back as a savior; He’s coming back as a Bridegroom!
In light of the current world conflict and surging gas prices, every politician is calling for US energy independence, but there is a marked difference in their worldview to accomplish this and to pay for it. It is suggested that the current oil crisis should “motivate us” to pursue more green energy. Dr. Jonny explains that green energy is not affordable, accessible or practical, and pursing it will bankrupt our country and become a danger to our national security. The obvious answer is to maximize the use of low cost energy right under our feet!
Almost every conflict in human history can be boiled down to one critical factor: money. The unprovoked Russian invasion of Ukraine is no different. The hesitation by the Biden Administration to place an embargo on Russia’s exported oil, highlights the priority of economic stability and prosperity over human suffering and misery! Dr. Jonny explores the financial, cultural, strategic and moral implications of the proposed embargo and how we as Christians need to be on the front lines of humanitarian compassion.
Believe it or not, Russia actually gave the United States a gift this week. “Putin’s War” showed us what it looks like when a central government and its leader becomes too powerful and controlling. President Vladimir Putin rose to power in a culture that enabled his Machiavellian worldview. A worldview that is cynical, disregards morality, and deceives to get what it wants. Our constitution and system of checks and balances are to protect morality and principles. Those become in jeopardy when our central government becomes too big and our politicians deceive to get what they want.
Observational science works in the present. Historical science deals with he past.How you interpret observational science, which shows that climate change is real, is based on what you believe about historical science. Dr. Jonny believes that God’s Word teaches a young earth that was radically altered by a recent global flood and with this we should expect natural variations in climate and temperature. As stewards of the earth we are to tend and keep what has been given to us, but we should not promote radical shifts in human behavior and resources based on unprovable secular assumptions.
Dr. Jonny explains that our out-of-control national debt is a by-product of a bloated government, excessive spending and extreme politics. However, equally responsible, is an involuted, selfish, suspicious and isolated church! The church was created to be regional and to care for the sick, poor, widow and orphan. What the church has set down, the government has picked up. It is time for the church to become regionally relevant and take back what belongs to them!

Our Faith has very little to do with doctrine, religion or behavior, and everything to do with belief. We want to see first, but He requires belief first. When Jesus says, “Everything is possible for one who believes,” He opens a huge door for reformation and transformation across cultures, communities, homes and lives. Family sets the culture and part of family culture is just having fun together and for the Claussens, that means games. Parental discretion advised. Our culture’s experiment with unrestrained sexuality isn’t working. In fact, it causing great harm and damage especially to the younger generation. Dr. Jonny isn’t calling for a minor change, but for a complete revolution in our culture! He gives real strategy for revolution starting with our own hearts. This is then fostered in our families, carried to our churches, and then boldly into the public square.
Parental discretion is advised. Our culture has not only eliminated boundaries around our sexual behavior but has also eliminated common sense and basic human behavior. We as a society have created moral and legal constraints when it comes to the “age of consent” as protections for our children’s innocence, but then as parents, look the other way when our children engage in sexually immoral and high risk behavior. When they are older, they engage in “adult” behavior, which should mean mature and responsible, but rather means unrestrained and childish. The only thing that can fix such an upside-down culture is a revolution! Dr Jonny calls for parents and leaders to be loud, intentional and to offer the next generation hope, purity, forgiveness and restored innocence.
Parental discretion is advised. Love is a person not a feeling. Jesus is the unending reservoir of love that fills our spirit, which in turn floods our soul and then satisfies our bodies. The world’s culture reverses this by promoting “making love” with our bodies first, with the desperate hope that they might feel satisfied in their soul. The result of this futile experiment is more pain, baggage and unhealthy soul ties. Dr. Jonny calls for a sexual revolution by engaging our spirits with the true source of love, finding peace and freedom for our souls within a boundary, and discovering the joy and value of abstinence before marriage.
Parental discretion is advised. Because of the world’s perversion of sex, we as Christians have looked at sex as perverted. Within the boundary the Lord created, sex is neither shameful nor perverted. Dr. Jonny exhorts parents to be frank, proactive and the first to inform their children about the beauty and purpose of sex. Too often our discomfort of the topic has allowed “locker room banter” to train our children in sexuality, but a sexual revolution can turn the tide and bring health and healing to our culture!
Parental discretion is advised. Our current culture is telling our children that pre-marital sex and sexual immorality is not only common but normal. The Bible sets a clear boundary around sexual behavior not to frustrate us but to protect us. Dr. Jonny explains that when we eat something outside a boundary it makes us sick. We need to stand up and call for a sexual revolution that not only transforms culture but saves the next generation from pain, sickness and even death.
We need to always balance the value for liberty with the value for safety. We have many everyday examples of sacrificing liberty for safety, but we need to be careful to not slide down the slippery slope of lost freedoms. However, as ambassadors of heaven we represent a different government. Dr. Jonny explains that this government is all about sacrifice and loving our neighbor as ourselves. Taking the Covid-19 vaccine isn’t just about ourselves, it is also about our neighbors and the most vulnerable.
Dr. Jonny uses his front-line experiences and his ability to analyze data to tackle questions from pastors on topics such as government mandates, risks and benefits, efficacy and the safety profile of the Covid-19 vaccines. He makes the case that as other vaccines in the past seem to be “tried and true,” history will show the same for this vaccine.

While there are many painful stories from dysfunctional families, these stories show the power of family functioning with health and caring for each other. This should be normal culture as kingdom families demonstrate the love and compassion of heaven here on earth.
Forgiveness is one of the most powerful and necessary act as a Christian, but is it possible that we have gone about it all wrong? Dr. Jonny explains that we have confused forgiving a debt with settling a debt. We wait until our offender is sorry and our debt is settled. However, Jesus was clear that forgiving a debt is independent from another’s repentance and directly connected to the forgiveness we receive from the Father.
Everyone would agree that prevention is better than a cure, so everyone wins in the healthcare setting when we become more prevention focused. Dr. Jonny reviews the current high grade recommendations from the United States Preventive Services Taskforce so that we can live better and live longer! We don’t make decisions from fear, but of a sound mind. We should be proactive and informed so that we can effectively take care of ourselves and our families.
As the government is attempting to grow larger and to mandate its way into everyone’s life, we are seeing the dangerous and ineffective outcomes of socialism. Despite all the recent examples of government over-reach, still the biggest and most destructive example is in the realm of healthcare. Dr. Jonny breaks down the all the players involved in delivering healthcare, and by using a compelling analogy, explains why capitalism beats socialism every time! We are at a very dangerous time in history, because the longer an entitlement is place or the longer our hand is out, the harder it is to take it back.
Our culture has been practicing social distancing long before the pandemic. Social media has allowed us to communicate from a distance with no accountability and many have adopted a “don’t tell me what to do” culture. This is counter-cultural to the Kingdom and the way the Father has hard-wired us. His perfect design requires us to need each other. As a result, self-awareness can be very difficult and we don’t easily recognize our own blind spots. Dr. Jonny looks to change the culture by having us surround ourselves with the ones that have our hearts. He never gives all insight to one person, so we become more effective for his kingdom when we position ourselves to need help and to be needed.
The current abortion law is very muddy and the precedents that have sustained it will now be under scrutiny by the Supreme Court of the United States starting in October 2021. They will hear arguments in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which has the potential to be one of the most significant abortion rulings of this generation. Dr. Jonny breaks down the issues of the case and the potential outcomes. He wants to help us recover the language of public argument and persuasion. When we are informed and in prayer, we will be empowered to bring change to the hearts of the people and protect innocent human lives.
Crisis can create a culture of division. In the midst of a crisis, we as a country need to find common ground in a common enemy. The current enemy is Covid-19, not each other, and our focus need to be getting through this crisis as brothers, sisters and Americans. We should be loud and passionate about what we believe, but if we are not speaking in love, then we are just being loud and obnoxious! Dr. Jonny also explains that “crisis mode” can sometimes feel hopeless and ineffective, but in those seasons, just having the courage to “hold the hill” can turn the tide of a war.
Our culture has become feeling dominated, as if feelings determine reality. Feelings are part of our soul and our soul is in conflict with our spirit. Our soul isn’t bad, it just was never meant to be in charge. When our soul takes charge it often manifests as anxiety, worry and fear. Dr. Jonny explains that our flesh was crucified with Christ and we have been born again in Spirit and His Spirit in us is to rule and reign in our lives. Our mind, will, emotions and feelings are to come into alignment with His perfect plan for our lives.
There has been much debate over vaccine mandates. Dr. Jonny explores the legal aspect and cultural impact of mandates. Although not an advocate of Federal mandates, Dr. Jonny understand and supports private entities taking steps to protect their employees and clients. Mandates are actually a reflection of weak leadership. Effective leaders should persuade, educate, and remind us of history, not just have us blindly comply.
Dr. Jonny discusses some of the listener’s concerns regarding Covid-19 and vaccinations, including the issue of censorship and the control of information. Frank Herbert wrote, “A ruler must learn to persuade and not to compel.” But unfortunately, our leaders today think we are dumb, need to be spoon fed information, and have our behavior mandated. Dr. Jonny believes that we can surround ourselves with real people of integrity and skill, draw from their wisdom, so that we can become informed and knowledgable about any challenge that may come our way.
Jesus is truth, and He came to be the demonstration of His realm of truth on the earth. Truth is the reality of His kingdom and the absoluteness of His word. As we see the pain and disfunction in the world, if we respond with fear, anxiety and hopelessness, then we are responding from the wrong realm. Dr. Jonny explains that the key for our world, our culture, our churches and for the next generation is the reality of His kingdom! As we become intoxicated with His Spirit and goodness, we will see a hungry world drawn to His reality.
The topic of vaccination for Covid-19 has caused division and confusion. Dr. Jonny does not endorse mandatory vaccination, but does endorse informed decision making. With his strong desire for truth and his medical experience, he answers questions from listeners who are “on the fence” about vaccination. He also encourages free and honoring discussions about these important topics that impact our nation.
One of the foundational aspects or our faith as Christians, is to not bear false witness. Our culture, from the left and right, is often ignoring this commandment by perpetuating falsehoods and conspiracies. Misinformation is either forwarded with the hopes that it might be true or with the hope that it might slow the momentum of an opponents agenda. Either way, it is counter-cultural to Biblical living. Dr. Jonny explores the misinformation campaign against Bill Gates, who is responsible for the largest, most human-driven philanthropy in the history of mankind! While it is acceptable to question ones motives and to hold one accountable, it is never acceptable to bear false witness.
Evolution is not scientific fact; it is actually really bad science with really bad consequences! Christians should feel no burden to dilute or alter scripture in any way, in fact, science strongly supports the literal interpretation of Genesis. In his third installment about creation vs evolution, Dr. Jonny explores the common questions Christians (and non-Christians) might have about creation so we can always be prepared to give an answer.
Now that Covid-19 vaccine has been distributed for over 6 months, Dr. Jonny explores its effectiveness and safety. There seems to be the beginning of a fourth surge of cases that is found only among the unvaccinated population. The majority of these new cases are due to the highly contagious delta variant. Dr. Jonny does not advocate for mandatory vaccination but rather for informed decision making. He is hopeful that once informed, many of those that are in the “wait and see” category will wait no more.
When we are on a mission in life and we begin to face resistance, it is sometime difficult to discern if the resistance is from the enemy trying to dissuade us from our mission, or from God, keeping us from going down the wrong path. Dr. Jonny explains that we can know the difference by understanding the language of heaven and how He speaks to us differently than the enemy. The enemy wants to confuse you and disempower you from your mission. The Father wants to deliver peace and courage so that your mission in life can never be stopped!
Dr. Jonny’s wife, Amy, joins him on this podcast to tell a compelling story about their recent high school graduate, Lydia, and her journey of trust and perseverance. Lydia has had a heart for Africa since she was a little girl and is currently on a missions trip to Kenya. The process of getting to Kenya, however, was filled with unexpected hurdles, frustrations and seemingly overt opposition from the enemy. Although the enemy can be loud and intimidating, he can’t keep us from our destiny. With a bulldog mentality and a perseverant spirit we can face all kinds of trials and still find pure joy!
We are not helpless victims of the culture, but as Christians, we are commanded and equipped to set the culture. Christians often take the phrase, “in the world but not of this world,” as an excuse to disassociate from worldly culture. Dr. Jonny explains, however, that we are not of this world in order to be in the world in order to transform the culture! As ambassadors of heaven we are to demonstrate His ways (or culture), and His ways are higher than our ways.
A pandemic is defined as, “occurring over a wide geographic area and affecting an exceptionally high proportion of the population.” In light of the staggering statistics in our country and around the world, fatherlessness is a pandemic in every sense, and causes more harm and destruction than any virus ever could. Dr. Jonny not only describes the scope of the fatherlessness pandemic, but explains why fathers are so important to our culture.
In celebration of Father’s Day, Dr. Jonny received one question from each of his eight children. He did not pre-read these questions, so his answers are spontaneous and from the heart. He also tries to guess which child wrote each question.
As swearing and cursing becomes more common in our culture, we might be tempted to call it normal. However, profanity is defined as “unholy” and ambassadors of heaven we are to be a demonstration of His holiness. By guarding our mouths, we set the culture for those around us. Dr. Jonny defends the pertinence and importance of this topic, because by avoiding vulgar language we set ourselves and our children into a place of influence and exceptionalism.
The recency effect is when items found at the end of a list or that are learned most recently are recalled best. In our own lives, this effect can lead us to only focus on what is before us and we forget the key moments of our journey. Dr. Jonny illustrates overcoming this effect as he recalls historical moments, famous stories and personal testimony. Through intentionality, focus and repetition we can take a remote memory and maintain it as a recent one.
Much of our culture is national or group focused. This culture allows unprecedented anonymity and is void of personal accountability. To create real change in a culture we need to stand up individually and locally for what we believe in. Dr. Jonny explains that if we assume someone else will take responsibility or if we allow a “group-think” mentality, nothing will change. Whatever we take responsibility in, we have authority over, and each of us will give an account of ourselves to God.
In the conclusion of this four part series, Dr. Jonny applies the strategies of 19th century reformer and abolitionist, William Wilburforce, to the modern day abortion issue. Woke is a political term that originated in the United States, and it refers to a perceived awareness of issues that concern social justice. Being woke has transitioned in America from being socially aware to being socially offended. Our culture, rather than focusing on becoming less offended, has ineffectively and at times ridiculously, only focused on silencing the offensive. Dr. Jonny explains that living in a culture of feeling constantly offended leads to conflict, control and rationalized censorship. Alternatively, a Christian ambassador pursues truth, frees us from oppression, and lives un-offendable.
The term social lubricant is any food, beverage, or activity that stimulates social interactions or helps people feel more comfortable in social situations. Many in this nation are feeling injustice or feeling unheard. This creates feelings of pain, anger and judgment. Jesus, however, flipped everything upside down and called for a higher way of living, where mercy triumphs over judgment. The current American Press has lost its journalistic integrity and have unapologetically engaged in propaganda. Dr. Jonny breaks down the difference between a journalist, an editorialist and a propagandist. Journalism presents all facts and allows the reader to form their own conclusions, whereas propaganda gives the conclusion and selectively presents information that supports their agenda. We need to be educated, be aware and demand truth, while filtering out and exposing those that knowingly mislead us.
With Covid-19 cases spiking around the country, there has been encouraging news regarding the development of safe and effective vaccines. Dr. Jonny shares the important and relevant information about the vaccines and advocates their use once available. He encourages a break from an individualist mindset, and promotes a community mindset where we take responsibility for the most vulnerable.
After commenting on a most interesting election week, Dr. Jonny reviewed the polls that questioned voters what issues mattered the most. It was alarming that the protection of innocent human life barely registered on the polls! Politicians only respond to the will of the people. So, if Christian families are to shape culture, then we are responsible to put what really matters most in front of every citizen. With unrelenting determination we need to fight for those that cannot, until real change occurs
John Piper, a prominent religious leader, wrote a recent essay entitled: “Policies, Persons and Paths to Ruin.” In his message, Pastor Piper defends his decision to not to vote, claiming that the unrepentant moral character of our president is as equally deadly to our culture as the anti-life, anti-freedom platform of his opponent. With honor, Dr. Jonny pushes back against his position. He explains that these two issues, while important to the heart of God, are not equally on the ballot. The President’s moral character and soul is the responsibility of the President only, and he is accountable for his actions and words. However, the defense of the innocent unborn is the responsibility of every American, and we all will be held accountable for their lives! History is filled with “less than perfect people” accomplishing the works of God and His culture.
By becoming hyphenated Americans, we have unknowingly allowed a political spirit to cause a deep division in our country. Despite political, social and racial unrest, politicians have intentionally categorized us and have pit us against each other. Dr. Jonny exposes the danger of identity politics and calls for a return to the “melting pot” mentality that is at the heart of the great American spirit!
Censorship has been around since ancient times and can serve as a protection for the vulnerable, but free speech is a critical personal liberty and should be protected from those that look to control. Dr. Jonny discusses the legal, moral and cultural injustice these brazen acts inflicted on our liberties. Censorship exposes a deep rooted insecurity of one’s position, and we should be asking, “what are you afraid of?”
Socialism may advertise “free stuff,” but it is not free and costs more to our society and culture than just money and debt. Socialism promotes class rhetoric and pits us against on another. It removes exceptionalism and promotes complacency. It creates a trap that promises short term relief and once it is given it is difficult to take it away. Dr. Jonny explains that we have seen nothing but failed socialist experiments all across the globe, yet many of our leaders are promoting the same ideas here, and we cannot budge an inch. Free market capitalism combined with extravagant generosity from God’s people will always create a healthy economy.
As the church, we carry the message of repentance and encounter, and we don’t need to water it down, dumb it down or calm it down. Dr. Jonny is concerned that the church is trying to look more like the world in order to attract the prodigals and calling it “seeker friendly,” but this misses the target. What the world is seeking is real spiritual transformation and authentic encounters with the face of God.
The nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett for the United States Supreme Court has resulted in a political and cultural firestorm as she is already being attacked for her religious views, her stance on abortion and even for her adoption of two children from Haiti. Dr. Jonny explains that the “Spirit of Adoption” is the very heart of the Father and central to the plan and mission of Jesus. Adopting a child into your family is one of the highest and purest forms of worship and is a direct reflection of heaven itself. Therefore, endorsing and adding this Christian conservative Judge to the Supreme Court will be incredibly consequential toward the healing and restoration of our culture.
Ronald Reagan said, “There isn’t a problem we can’t solve if government will give us the facts, tell us what needs to be done and then get out of the way and let us have at it.” Many state governments have handled the Covid pandemic by overreaching with the authority given to them by the people. This has resulted in anger, mistrust, frustration and even conspiracy theories. Dr. Jonny postulates on what would have happened with this crisis if the government informed us and then got out of the way. More importantly, he exhorts us to be informed and vigilant so that the micromanaging of our lives by government doesn’t become the new normal.
The Black Lives Matter movement has brought attention and started conversations about our racial tension and inequity in our country. The movement is seeking justice, answers and real change, however, the messaging has often been confusing, divisive and distracting. The term “cancel culture” came to the forefront again after President Trump mentioned it during his 4th of July speech at Mount Rushmore. He defended our Judeo-Christian heritage and our forefathers that fought to defend it. Dr. Jonny passionately explains that no person who has walked this planet has been perfect or sinless (except one) and we can honor their sacrifice and leadership without agreeing with every action or word. The definition of “culture shock” is: the feeling of disorientation experienced by someone who is suddenly subjected to an unfamiliar culture, way of life, or set of attitudes. Just talking about racism doesn’t bring about change. Dr Jonny explains that real change only comes from a change of heart. Tragedy has struck again this week, and our nation is hurting and angry. The death of George Floyd has triggered painful shock waves through our culture and racism is once again in the forefront. Dr. Jonny explores the role of Christian Americans to bring truth, identity and healing to our culture. We may not be able to remedy all the injustices from the past, but we do have an answer for the future!
Religious and personal liberties have been challenged this week. It is no coincidence that many of these conflicts took place during the week of Memorial Day, when we remember those who fought and died for our liberties. They were willing to die to give us the freedom to speak up and pushback. What are you willing to die for? A primary relationship is a husband and wife, parent and child, or brother and sister. This means, by definition, that all other relationships are secondary. It is time for our culture to prioritize primary relationships, which means we consider them priorto all other life decisions. Our marriages are the "primariest" of all relationships and the world should see that you honor it, defend it, protect it and even fight for it!
If we aren't careful, something that can start as noble can turn into an unhealthy, negative mindset. Our country was founded on a Declaration of Independence, but an independent mindset is counter-cultural to God's plan for His people. Dr. Jonny calls for a cultural shift, starting with marriages, toward a healthy dependence on one another. He is a relational God, and He designed us to need Him and each other!

The current culture is trying to convince us that boundaries are constricting and limiting, but we all live in boundaries, and they were created by our Father, so that we would feel safe and secure. In fact, only within boundaries can we and our children live in complete freedom! As parents, the boundaries we place are beautiful and desperately wanted by our children!
