Self-control is important in the life of a Christian. It is part of the fruit of the Holy Spirit. Self-control helps us to hold back and not react in the flesh. It also helps us to be patient and wait upon the Lord to act in His timing. Self-control is a sign of maturity in a child of God. "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23.
