Welcome to THAT, a daily podcast hosted by Clark Sell and the crew at THAT Conference.
Our goal with this podcast is simple. I want to tell your story. I want to document these experiences in such that we can all help one another. I know that sounds a bit abstract, but over the years, I’ve talked with thousands of professionals who all have an awesome and unique story. I’ve loved hearing every one of them, and they’ve each inspired me in some way.
I started THAT Conference as a place for the community to inspire and help lift one another. THAT Conference was never meant to be just an event but an extension of the community every day.

Al is an Architect at J. J. Keller & Associates, Inc. with over 15 years of experience working with subscription based web applications. Primarily I work on web applications using the .NET stack, and recently we are working on Cloud Native solutions in Azure. These solutions are not only web applications, but there is also an IoT solution currently being built.
Since spring of 2015, I have been a remote employee. My company is in Wisconsin, and I worked out of the office until my wife and I decided to make a change. I now live in Knoxville, TN and absolutely love being a remote employee. There were some challenges early on, but we worked through them all, and now we have a number of distance employees on our team.

Erika Carlson is the Director of Training & Development at Detroit Labs, where she blends her love of programming with her passion for helping others grow. Erika was studying psychology in 2011 when she wrote her first line of Python code. She fell in love with programming, decided to change paths, and became a software developer. Since then she has built enterprise software, created websites for nonprofits, and worked on mobile applications with millions of users, as well as training dozens of software developers through Detroit Labs's innovative Developer Apprentice Program. Erika is passionate about the power of technology to drive positive change in the world. Ken and I talk about how we approach learning in today fast paced tech industry. Reading isn’t enough, do. Watch it, read it, but for sure code it. Learn that why!
Ken has been developing software for over 20 years. In that time, I have worked on a large varienty of systems: embedded avionic systems, Windows desktop applications, large Oracle based ERP systems running on Unix/Linux, .NET back-end services, and front end web and hybrid mobile applications. I also developed a couple of my own Linux based open source programs. One was a ticketing system used by a small city outside of Tampa. The other was a flash cards game for kids.
Ken is currently employed as the Senior Enterprise Support Engineer at Ionic, which means that I spend my time helping our enterprise customers take better advantage of the Ionic Framework as well as our other offerings to solve their problems and develop their products.
When Ken isn't working, he enjoys cooking, biking, working out, reading, helping my dad work on cars, and (of course) exploring various aspects of technology that are either directly or tangentally realated to my work (or, when I have time, stuff I just find interesting).

We all play a role in this change and shouldn’t accept today’s current standard.
Marisa works as the Head of Research at Clearhead, where I specialize in digital optimization, user research, and user experience flow for web and mobile applications.
I work with clients to create a more personal approach to marketing, use data to optimize businesses, and help clients connect with customers on a human level.

Javeria is a Digital Marketing Manager and has over seven years of experience in Information Technology field.
