Hello, welcome to another episode of NancyTalks. I'm Nancy Okereke.
Today, I talk about how our responses to conflicts contribute to violence in our society.
Conflicts are inevitable, but we can prevent some and even manage them when they occur. In spite of the efforts that have been put into managing conflicts, African societies are still largely defined by conflicts which are sometimes violent.
To solve the problem of violence, we have to go down to the roots of conflicts - the small scale conflicts between a few people - because it's the people in the small scale conflicts that take part in the broader ones.
So, if most people resort to violence in small conflicts, then we'd have a lot of people resorting to violence in broad conflicts. Because how we do little things reflect how we would do bigger things.
But if we can adopt peaceful methods of resolving our conflicts, then the society at large would adapt to using peaceful measures to resolve conflicts on any level whatsoever.
For us to really solve any problem, we have to begin from the roots. So, if we are to eradicate violence from our relationships, we have to start with how you and I respond to conflict with each other.
Thank you very much for listening to my podcast. If you would like to make contributions, please leave a message.
Until next week. Bye!
