A survey conducted by the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce Foundation found that 25% of the 20–30-year-olds that they surveyed, plan to leave Boston in the next 5 years. Job availability, the cost of rent, and ability to buy a home were the top deciding factors. In addition, the Boston City Council is expected to discuss a proposal to provide workforce housing for city employees who struggle to afford a home in Boston.
