Is the Massachusetts state seal a symbol of racism or a historical reminder? Earlier this year the Special Commission on the Official Seal and Motto of the Commonwealth voted unanimously to recommend replacing the state seal and motto. While most of the commission remains in favor of the change, not everyone is on board with the change, including one Indigenous member who is concerned that an important piece of Native American history will be lost.
