Today, we talk to Tom Rasch. He has been drawing since before he can remember. At an early age he had a growing interest in the modern mythology of pop culture. He loved comics: Batman and Spiderman, were his favorites. He watched TV shows like Giant Robot, Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica. He went to the movies as often as he was allowed.
In 1977 when Star Wars premiered, something happened. It dawned on him this is what he wanted to do. He began to realize that there were people behind all this stuff he was so crazy about. He read comics for the artists instead of the characters. John Byrne, Michael Golden and George Lucas were his new inspirations.
Since then he has had the opportunity to work as a graphic designer, concept artist, flash animator and has been a penciler for several comic book companies including Marvel Comics. Today we talk about it all including a new concept character and the possible movie linked to it. So come on, tune in and nerd out. As Stan Lee would say “to Excelsior and Beyond.” Enjoy.
